Hello 2009'ers.
I'm afraid we have decided not to go in January 2009. The reality of our 2008 vacation costing far more than in the past (we had always stayed with family in the past/now we are renting a house on the beach + renting a car + higher flight prices + a possible side trip), the highly likely need to purchase a new vehicle this year and now, not only does one DS need braces this year -- but now 2 do -- all points in the direction of no 2009 WDW trip.
Making the decision to cancel my tentative thoughts and plans now will in the long run be easier than holding out the hope, just to have to cancel months down the road. I will hope toward the early part of 2010 -- which seems lightyears away!
So, goodbye. It's been fun, but I need to accept reality. I'll still be on here every now and then as I am still working on scrapbooks for our 2004 and 2007 trips and visit the Scrapping board here on the Dis for ideas and resources.

I was so excited, because we were planning our first ever trip to WDW over the Thanksgiving Holiday. Well, that doesn't work

Since pulling the kids out of school isn't an option for us, we're debating between Easter, Christmas, or summertime of '09. That seems so far away. I saw this thread and knew I'd find kindred spirits here.

Now we are looking into 2 nights at POP and renting points from a DVC member for 5 nights at AKV, BCV, or BWV. Also looking at the 1st week in May rather than April. Anyone have any experience in May crowds wise??

I am in the same boat as you! The kids are too old now to take them out of school, so we have decided that we will be going over spring break in March 2009. I am afraid that Christmas time will be just too crazy for us. Hopefully spring break will be better?

I guess I'm the only Disney nut in this house. We will surely make plans for 20010 or 2011 when the Harry Potter attraction will be up and running at Universal and by that time who knows maybe we could offered to upgrade and go in a moderate resort.... For those of you who are going have a magical time
