2009 Dining Plan questions

I'm planning on being in WDW solo for 2/1 -2/7 and need to clarify exactly what I credits I have to use on the Deluxe plan. Hoping someone can answer this:

I check in 2/1 around 10 AM - do I have 3 TS credits that day? I think so.
I checkout 2/7 - so do I have 3 TS credits to use that day as well?

Prior experience in Oct 08 (w/3 people on Deluxe)
- last day ate TS breakfast and lunch - receipt indicated we still had 3 TS credits left.

This is where the wording "night of your stay" confuses me no end.

You get three meal credits per NIGHT of your stay. (on DXDP they are not TS credits - they are meal credits. You can use them for any meal, TS or CS, your choice.) You are staying 6 nights so you will receive 18 meal credits. You receive them ALL when you check in. You then have until midnight of the day you check out to use all of them. You can use as many or as few of them as you want on any day - how you use them is entirely up to you.

The only exception is that if your key card shows there is one adult on the dining plan attached to your reservation, you will be permitted to order only one meal per transaction to be paid for with credits.

We are going to try the quick service plan on our May trip simply because we will be there with a two year old who is hard to entertain while dining and a four year old who doesn't like to eat period . We think for us that it is our best option. The 2 year old won't have credits but we figure we will share or buy an extra meal. Plus the refillable mugs are great.

Thanks for the answer, I am still thinking we will do the basic dining plan, I just wish that they would have chosen to either bring back the appetizer or gratuity.

This is what I was thinking of doing also. We will have a 2 yr old, 5 yr old, and a 9 yr old, and I think the quick service plan will work out better for us this time. Not to mention all the problems I will avoid by not having to worry about ADRs and that mess.

Question 2: My 11 year old will be given adult credits, can he still order from the child's menu if he wishes?

Yes and Yes to both!

Though the number of credits you receive is based upon nights stayed not days. (If you're going for 6 nights/7 days - each person will have 6TS 6CS and 6 Snack credits)

When I was planing my last trip this month and reading the posts there was alot of people going the same time I was that got free dining. I saw the code but every time I called Disney with the code they told me it was all taken up. So I missed it last week.
But I will be going back this time next year and I was wondering if anyone knows when they might offer a code for free dining....Maybe this summer?

Free dining for checkins Dec. 14-20 was available only to Disney Visa cardholders or to those who received a postcard or e-mail with a nontransferable PIN code. This was not a general public offer.

Whether or not they will have another offer in 2009 depends on what they feel they need to do to fill up rooms in that time period.

I'm new to the boards and need help with the plans. We are staying at the campgroung in Aug. When I made my reservations awhile ago they asked me about the Dining plan and I turned it down. Well thinking about it I'd like to do it 3 days out of our 8 day stay. When I just called I spoke to a man I could not understand very well and he said I could get tickets to the parks for 3 days but my dining plan was for all 8 days. I told him I only wanted 3 days as we are doing other things and he said I could not do it for 3 days. Is this true? The first lady I spoke to awhile ago gave me the impression I could do any amount of days I wanted for the Dining Plan. Thanks for any help you can give me.

No...the dining plan is for the entire length of your ressie. So if you have an eight night ressie then the dining plan would be for all eight nights. You cannot pick the amount of days that you would like to have it. You can however pick the number of days that you want park tickets for.

You do have to take the dining plans for all the nights of your reservation. You could split up the days and make multiple reservations but that is kind of a pain.

I have heard that you could get two seperate ressies- one for three nights so that you could get the dining plan, then another for the final 5 nights without the dining plan. While I haven't done this, I think that this is the only way to get around the entire thing

What can you get with the snack credits? We are going Jan. 21 and we are getting the basic dining. We've never done the dining programs before so I just want to make sure we can get the most out of everything.

We won't have a confirmed list for 2009 until we start getting reports back in 2009. However, there is no rumor of huge changes in 2009, so you can probably feel fairly comfortable using the 2008 list as your guide.
