2009 DDP, DxDP and QS plans - Everything you always wanted to know

New offering "Picnic in the Park" at Animal Kingdom We would really like to do this but it says adult credits and we still have 3 kiddos 9 and under. I wonder if this will be one of those counter services that when a child option is not available they can order the adult option?

As I noted in the "picnic" thread, since CS credits aren't tracked separately by adult/child, there's no question of using adult or child CS credits for the picnic package.

The real question becomes, will they let you order a package up to your listed party size (5 in your case), even if some of those party memebrs are kids?

Yes, yes, and yes. A "fixed priced" meal can be ordered (in most places) using basic DDP. In the case of Le Cellier, absolutely no substitutions are allowed.

I love this board! Thanks for answering so quickly!

According to the reports we have, Le Cellier and Chefs de France currently allow the three course fixed price meal (no substitutions) for basic DDP users. Artist Point has one, but at last report they didn't allow basic DDP to order it. Marrakesh permits ordering multi-course meals with a surcharge.

Hi can anyone answer this question for me please. We are a party of 8 in 3 rooms- however it is booked as one booking. Is it possible to have the dining credits allocated to each individual room rather than lumped together as a group? thanks

If they have seperate reservation numbers you should be able to do what you are talking about (I think this is the default, although if you booked a grand gathering I do not know if that has an impact).

Many apologies if this has already been answered but I've just found this board and haven't had chance to read every page yet.
We have free dining on the regular plan. I never eat desserts except fruit [not being "good", just a medical condition]. However I believe it's impossible to exchange a dessert for an appetiser. Is there any way round it?
Many thanks!

Most places will offer sugar free cheescake if that works for you. :)

Wow! Thank you for answering so quickly. I do love the sugar free options but sadly my stomach does not and it can have disastrous consequences which I won't go into! :rotfl: Maybe fresh fruit is available most places?

Yes I also would think that fresh fruit would be an option. :)

No, there isn't. You can ask for fruit or a substitute dessert but you can't get an appetizer instead of dessert.

Thank you. Actually we have found in the past that we're always way too full with just the entrée! I was just wondering if anyone knows the reason why you can't choose whether you have an appetiser or a dessert?

Because if each person in a party could choose between appetizers and desserts, half the party would choose appetizers and half desserts, and they'd share them. No gain for Disney there, once they cut back to two courses on the basic plan. Appetizers were likely eliminated because they are more expensive to produce and serve than desserts. In 2008 Disney stopped offering an appetizer with the basic plan and added the deluxe plan, which includes both appetizers AND desserts, for a higher price. That way they can turn over tables faster from those on the basic plan, and those who want all three courses are laying out more cash to justify the time they'll be taking at the table.

Thank you, that does explain it if people are buying a dining plan, but offering free dining sort of negates those reasons. Anyway thank you for your very helpful responses TDC Nala and Mom Poppins!

I have continueing ressies. The first reservation-Check in is Nov. 12 and check out is the 15(3 nights). I have a 10 day MYW ticket +dining on this ressie. The 2nd Reservation is the 15-22 (7 nights) with a 1 day base ticket plus dining. How many credits will this give me. I thought I remembered the CM on the hone saying I will have an extra days worth of dining because I have 2 reservations so I am confused since it seems to be attached to nights stayed. :confused3. Thanks in advance

You'll have 10 nights' worth of credits total. You aren't getting any extra days' worth than you would with a single 10-night reservation.

What they mean is: Your dining credits for the 3 night stay will expire at midnight on the day you check out, which is also the first day of the 7 night stay. If you have any dining credits left over from the 3 night stay on that day, you will have those to use as well as all the credits you receive upon checking in for the 7 night stay. After midnight on the day you check out of the first stay, you can use only the credits received for the second stay.
