2009 Anyone??? Im new hello!!!

Hi everyone,
My second post EVER ha ha. Hubby and I have decided we would like a very adult, luxurious, action packed fun holiday to the world in 2009. Anyone else planning for then???

So far we have sent off for the brochure etc and thats about it. It all seems very confusing so far, but Im sure I'll get the hang of things- I have 18 months or so

Does the 3K include spending money? If so it will be pushing it to stay on site in anything more than possibly a value resort.

It might be possible. If you were to go in September and if they were to offer free dining again, and you were to stay somewhere like the Port Orleans French Quarter (we've stayed here during free dining and its a lovely moderate resort!) you'd be looking at around £1750 for tickets, hotel and the free dining (probably a bit less actually). Add around £700 for flights as you can usually get great seat sales for September with BA and Virgin (we've never paid more than £630 for both of us to go at that time). That would be £2450.

You could take the Disney Magical Express to and from the resort to save on car rental. As you want to do Seaworld and possibly a bit of shopping (you just have to!) i'd probably rent a car for the last week, that will be around £120-£150 depending on the size of the car.

So that brings you up to £2600 and you haven't bought tickets yet for Seaworld and Universal Studios, so that's another £200 or so, so we're at £2800.

So you wouldn't have a lot of spending money. But this is just an example. It would be cheaper if you could stay in a value resort but as its just the two of you it will probably be noisier, more kids etc as the resorts are larger and we're not sure if Disney will be offering free dining to the value resorts anymore - if at all! Fingers crossed they will though as its a pretty good deal.

We too are planning a very adult, very luxurious and action packed fun trip back to the World in 2009. We will be going for Christmas though.
I won't start to even think about planning it though until we get back from our trip to Disneyland, CA and Las Vegas next summer. You are not alone about wanting to plan so far ahead, loads of peple around here do that! I have been planning my Disneyland trip for over a year already and we don't go until next August!

Well, to give you an idea, Vurgin holidays next August (between 18th-31st) to, say Carribean Beach, a moderate resort, is £1179 including flight, car for 7 days and rooms for 14 each, so yes, £3,000 should be fine.

The last time we went was during free dining so we didn't have to pay much for food, only the extra things we wanted. The quote I gave above is about right for the free dining plan (we book through Dreams Unlimited which are an agency that specialise in Disney...my agent Rhonda is brilliant at getting great deals and very helpful too!). Although you get free dining you are paying rack rate for the room. The quote above also included 10 day park hopper plus tickets for both DH and I.

Next time we go we probably won't be on the dining plan (which costs $37.99 per person per day for the whole of your stay if you choose to add it - not a bad deal I guess!) and for the two of us (and baby!) we plan around $100 a day for all 3 meals and a couple of beers. Cocktails come out of spending money! I do like the dining plan but I don't think it will be practical to make all those dining reservations in advance with our baby girl. And this time we want to eat off-site a bit more (i'm addicted to Parrot Bay coconut shrimp at Red Lobster i'm afraid!)

They've changed the dining plan for 2008 so now it includes 1 snack (pretty much anything under $4), 1 Counter Service meal (includes drink and dessert) and 1 table service meal (includes drink and dessert). This includes tax but not tip.

Yes I agree $100 a day for food including alcohol is about right for 2 adults, so that would be about £700 for 14 nights add another £200 - £300 for extras should be sufficent if on a budget. I was just wondering if the OP meant the £700 spending money included a budget for food or if it was just for extras.

We will be going in 2009 but still to plan 3 trips for 2008 yet, will not be thinking of our 2009 trips until middle of next year.

At the moment for THIS YEAR VA flights are £319 for departures Nov 30th to mid Dec, so if you can hold your nerve then you may get a good price next year. A value resort would be about £650 for 14 nights but a moderate would be about £450 extra, so that may be a bit over your limit as Nov/Dec does not have free DDP and that costs nearly $100 for two adults next year. October means higher flight prices and room rates are higher.
