I am not sure that I will make much use of this calculator, as I don't plan too far ahead, and often don't have a choice when making reservations, but this is sure a great tool to have for those who like to plan far ahead.
One thing it doesn't take into account is AP discounts or the 4/3 deal which right now, brings the cost of the cabin down to about $1750 in the example you're showing - and that includes a 1 day base ticket plus a $200 gift card.
Last summer, on an AP rate, a cabin for a week in July with 1 day in reg. season and 6 in value came to under $1400.
I wish I had better Excel skills so I could monkey with additional variables.
I didn't even think of AAA, etc rates. I think those discounts are fixed based upon season - either 10 or 15% off. You could add those and be fairly safe.
I agree with the rest of them. They're so variable it's not worth it to even try.
Still, I don't know anyone who normally pays the rack rates listed, unless they go at Christmas
Yes, I was talking about discounts on the cabins. I don't pay attention to the campsites.
But yes, I can't remember if I've ever paid rack rate for any room on Disney property. Using it as a comparison really isn't all the informative, and can even give the impression discounts aren't available.
I agree that if you want the 4/3 deal for 14 days it would be difficult to get that into your scenario. But, I think you could break it out by day and then multiply by number of days to get a 14 day total.
This is what I found on mousesavers re: AAA discounts:
Value Season: 15% off at Value, Deluxe and Deluxe Villa (Disney Vacation Club) resorts; 20% off at Moderate resorts and Ft. Wilderness cabins and campsites.
Regular Season: 10% off at the Deluxe and Deluxe Villa (Disney Vacation Club) resorts; 10%-15% off at Value and Moderate resorts and Ft. Wilderness cabins and campsites.
Peak Season and Summer Season: 10% off at all resorts.
