***2009-2010*** cheer parent thread!!

Somehow I am able to post a picture as an avatar but not on the post itself...........still open for suggestions as to how to!! thanks.....

if you go over to the photography board, there is a sticky that explains step by step how to do it. That is how I managed to post mine.

Does she throw a standing tuck? If so have her do standing tucks up onto a panel mat...start out with just one panel and then keep folding them up higher...it'll make her set higher.
She is trying to throw it without a spot but since she is not tucking tight, she is landing on her knees.

We made it through tryouts successfully!:cheer2:

Haley, DD 15 made Varsity
Hannah, DD14 made Junior Varsity

We will be attending A LOT of ballgames this year!
JV football Thursday nights, Varsity football Friday nights.
Basketball 2-3 nights a week, that includes JV girls, JV Boys, Varsity girls, Varsity boys (all games, JV and Varsity, are played in one night). So in reality, thats about 8-12 games a week. :scared1:
We will be tired and somewhat broke, but it's worth it because the girls are so happy!!
Congratulations to them both!:cheer2::cheer2:

I've got three in AllStars - doing LOTS of fundraising because it is killing me! Anyone wanna be a sponsor? DS12, DD9 and DD6 all love it. This is their second year and they were all three on the same Y1 team last year and they came in first in 5 of their 7 competitions. The gym split this year - long story but our coach opened a new all cheer gym. Much better than sharing a gym with gymnasts. We have a new tumbling coach and the kids have learned more in the past month that they did in the past year. My DD9 got her front tuck on the trampolene in a week. The kids are ready for choreography because that is when it really gets fun for them. WooHoo!

Can I join?

My DD (12) just tried out and made the All Star team for the gym where she has been taking tumbling classes. This is our first experience with All Star cheer. I was a rec/school cheerleader myself and she cheered for a rec center/school team for 4 years prior to this. All Star is so different! I believe she is on a Level 3 Senior Open Large Gym team. Does that make sense?

She LOVES it. It's so much flashier and high energy than the rec center team. She is doing great and having a blast. The costs are giving me pause and I feel like we live at that gym, but seeing her so happy and motivated makes it worth it.

I look forward to getting to know you all and perhaps learn more about All Star cheer through you veteran cheer moms.

Congrats to both girls!! :cheer2:

One way to do it if you don't have a photo sharing account somewhere:

On the main menu above, there is a link to "DISer Photos".

Click on that and then log in using the same screen name / password you use for the DISboards.

Click on Upload photos.
Click Browse and add the photos you want to upload.
Follow the instructions to upload.

Then when the pictures are uploaded, go to your gallery and double click on the thumbnail.

When the picture is up, right click on it and copy the "properties" location.

Then come back to your post and click the little yellow box up on top of the message box (Insert Picture). Paste the location you copied from the properties here.

Or you can just paste the location into the post and put
around it.

After much pleading from DD9, I have just signed her up for our local competitive Pop Warner Jr. Pee Wee squad. I think the clincher for her in her decision over whether to be on a non-competitive or competitive team was that the Nationals are held at Disney World in December and 4 of the last 5 yrs, our PW club has sent a team to Nationals. Yes, I have created a little Disney World fanatic in her (and DS12 and DD4). I'm not quite sure what we've gotten ourselves in for, but it should be fun. I have never seen her so excited about something! She has decided to take a break from gymnastics after 5 yrs. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and look forward hearing about what all I can expect from PW competitive cheer. And if I get to go to Disney World too, then that will be icing on the cake! :cheer2:

Hey all!

Well my DD has decided that she didn't want to do cheer this year (I think it has a lot to do with the tumbling issues) but then one of the girls from her squad sent her a message through my Facebook saying that they wanted her back! She was so excited to see that she was wanted and needed that she decided she wants to do it again! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Now the problem is talking my DH into it, I think he was looking forward to not having the expense!

We are taking the tumbling one step at a time. Each little step is a major victory for us! She was doing her standing BHS on the hard floor on Monday!

Tell your daughter congrats on the BHS and having such great friends on her squad that make it known how much she is wanted!

Good for your DD! She will get her tumbling going again - one step at a time. :)

We're headed to Disney this week - yay. But dd will be missing the first 3 practices with all of the new girls on her level 2 all star team. I'm feeling so nervous about this - I don't love that she is missing during this crucial time. I actually don't like her to ever miss practice - but this is just how it worked out. Do you think I should be worried?

Hi everyone, just finally checking in for the new thread! All is well, just got back from 9 days in Disney! Good news, Jenna started to run on the treadmill at PT yesterday so tumbling should be around the corner. (to all that don't know my, my dd,(15) tore her tibial tendon and pulled a bone chip fracture in Feb)
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer! :)

That is so wonderful for Jenna!
Bring on the 2009 - 2010 season!

Will you let a cheer Gramma join? DGD, 9, just made the competition level 1 cheer team at her gym. We are excited. She seems to have progressed so much in the last month after attending camp with the team.

Congrats to your DGD! You are going to have so much fun watching her progress and compete. :cheer2:

Anybody have their competition schedules yet?

Ours will be released soon and we are waiting to see where we will head to for nationals. Rumors are swirling that our team will be heading to Dallas instead of Cheersport.

So, where else is everybody going?

we've had ours since May. We are dialing it back a bit this year. Only two fly aways and 3 hotel stays for the season. :cool1::banana::woohoo:

Our big Nationals are Cheersport, ( a Comet staple.. they never miss it!) Spirit of Hope Charlotte, (went last year and loved it!) and WSF in Springfield MA. We are also going to Several Jamfest, WSF, and Cheersport regionals. All are within driving distance, either in NJ or Philly so it should be an easy season on us moms!

Last year, our gym did 4 flyaways, including Worlds. Haven't heard if they are scaling back or not this year.

DD's team is dependent on where the level 5 teams go as they are our junior coaches. If we only do Dallas this year, I am going to miss Cheersport. That was a blast last year!

My niece is doing a year on the rec team (J1), but is thisclose to her tuck, so will be trying out for the competitive teams for the 2010-2011 season. Since I am basically her "mom" as my brother is a single dad, I will get to do all the travel next year

I can't believe everything is already in full swing again. :goodvibes
