Hi,
Is there anywhere on this board where people swap or purchase other members 2008 refillable mugs?

I've seen them on Ebay and I figured why not let other DIS members buy them first using Paypal or by buying from someone in your area?

I know some people keep them as souveniors but maybe some people would like to get about half their money back?

This way the mugs only cost half for everyone although we would need to control the shipping otherwise it cancels out the savings.

So...is there anyone into this? I figure we have a fridge swap so why not a mug swap?:lovestruc

Violation of WDW rules to have a mug swap.

The mugs are specifically for the length of stay during which they were purchased. It is stated right on the mugs. There will be no mug swap on the Budget Board. And for sale posts are not permitted on the DIS, so there will be no re-selling of mugs here either.

ETA: Let's not debate whether old mugs can be re-used on subsequent trips. The subject is like a dead horse. Don't beat it.

I am not sure if you are joking or not, however, if not... NO! Mugs are good for your length of stay only! A swap would violate Disney guidelines/rules, and I am sure, the Disboards.

No I was not joking. I aske a simple question. If it is against the rules than it is against the rules-So apparently the fridge swap is not against the rules? Disney doesn't mind people not paying full price for the use of fridges (which btw is $10+ per day so you are, in essence, cheating the poor strapped Disney machine out of a lot more than $12 each mug) but it is a terrible thing to ask about the mugs-sounds like a big old double standard to me but feel free to keep laughing-I'll buy the mugs on ebay and you keep paying $12 for a piece of plastic that hold the least expensive liquids known to mankind.
Thanks for the kind introduction to the Budget Boards

Even if it wasn't against the rules, I would definitely NOT buy a used mug or swap mugs with anyone. GROSS!

Perhaps if you researched a bit before posting you would not feel like you received a "kind introduction to the Budget Boards"

Not at all commenting on the mug swap idea -- but honestly I don't know why this would be gross....assuming you eat at restaurants...or even plan to eat at Disney restaurants on your trip. All those dishes have been used and used and used and used probably way more than a mug you would purchase from someone and can still be washed/sanitized.

Thanks but I did my research and I saw lots and lots and lots of fridge swapping. I asked politely and recieved ridicule-- if the answer is no-state "no" leave the LOL out of it and if you feel like explaining then explain and leave the "you must be joking!" out of it.
People ask a lot of questions on this board, not all of them are going to be asked with actual live experience or reading the entire board experience. Give people the benefit of the doubt and leave the mockery out of it.

As for "gross".
When it gets sent to you use your dishwasher--- Its just like every other mug or glass you drink out of in Disney or anywhere else-Do you wash out your brand new mug before you use it? Do you know where its been? Do you think its hermetically sealed and sanitized before it hits the resort shelf?

I already have the picture that it is against the rules to try and swap refillable mugs on this board. I heard you.
Any other comments are superfluous.

If you can't laugh in life, what do you have? I thought you were being facetious. It happens around here. Hope your day improves, and you find a good reason for a solid laugh!:upsidedow

Sorry you got zapped by the mug police! It's a hot subject on these boards, not just the budget board. I usually skip the mug threads, but came in out of curiousity. Are the 2008 mugs different than the 2007? I have quite a collection of resort mugs and I can see where your idea would be nice for people who collect them! Sorry you got offended!

They are the same as last years version but where there was 2007 there is nothing - so very generic this year.

The new mugs are awful. I'm glad we have ours from years past. I wouldn't buy one now. We don't drink enough soda to warrant buying an ugly cup!

Thanks, I was hoping they were gonna be different!

I think they look Christmassy - that blue and white and the way Minnie and Mickey are dressed -- I know its suppose to signify YOAMD but that isn't what I see.

Actually, you are lucky you asked here on the Budget Board and not the Community board! You can't even IMAGINE the reaction you could have gotten over there! Sorry that you got blasted on your first post here on the Budget board. You just happened to hit on one of those taboo topics that you don't know about until you've been around a little while. Don't take it too hard, ANYONE would have gotten the same responses to that question.

I thought I just read that the mugs are actually the same for all resorts now - something about year of a million dreams on them.

I've never like coming home with a new mug everytime as it just fills up the cabinets. I would LOVE to see Disney come out with a policy that if you bring your mug back from previous trips you buy like a refill sticker good for the visit. It could be cheaper than the original full purchase price but would still be "paying" for your drinks. Additionally, it would cut back on the amount of mugs they would have to sell overall AND help the environment as well (go tree huggers :lmao: )

That is actually a great idea! You should send that to Disney! I would MUCH rather do that then have to buy a new mug each trip (especially since they keep doing the same boring design).

They are right now. I'm assuming (hoping) that they will go back to the individual resort mugs after the current promotion!!! I like having the different designs from each resort! I keep one from each resort, I just gave away a bag of duplicates to some people at work, they were thrilled!
