Ok, now that I got your attention, yes that's right it's May and this is a review of the food & wine festival (ok, we don't drink, so the food portion only), from yesterday..................at Disney's California Adventure that is :lmao:

Ok, we finally got the pictures uploaded!

We started off by going to one of the free presentations where we learned how to make a Lime Mouse "Cheesecake", not really a cheesecake, but a lower calorie version that tasted very good for those watching their weight. It uses very little fat and only had about 200 calories per serving. And of course they gave us a sample one after. (A decent portion too, I might add) Oh, this demonstration was called Coke Secret Ingredient Recipes, and it uses Simply Lime (a Coke product) for the lime flavoring.

Sorry, we didn't get a picture of the cheesecake, I thought we had :(

We then bought some food (turned out to be our lunch) at Lucky Fortune Cookery (ok, I am almost certain that name isn't right, I will correct it later) where they were selling samples, we got a Shredded Beef Slider, with onion straws served on a roll (this was delicious). We also gout a mushroom risotto, also great. We also got a Berry Shortcake kind of thing, which my wife really liked, I thought it was OK, but I don't go for lemon too much and it used lemon pound cake, I got a Ghiradelli chocolate thing for desert, this was delicious and I will try to get the names right from the pictures later when I upload them, sorry about that.

Ok, here's the menu of what they were selling:

Then we went over to Marcie's Produce presentation where they gave us samples of:
Pixie Tangerines (two slices each, my DW thought these were the sweetest she tangerines she had ever had, she never had the ones that my Grandma grew when I was growing up, those tangerines were the best and to just go and pick them off the tree when they are ripe...<Insert Drooling Smiley here>
Kumquats (I don't like them and apparently neither does DW)
Passion Fruit (I think it would have been better if it were in season, but still pretty good)
Some sort of fruit related to the Lychee (I forget what it is called, but it looks a bit like an oblong Koosh Ball and tastes a lot like a grape, I will get the name when I get the paperwork and notes out of the car and add the pictures in here).
Mangostien (pronounced Mango-steen) - Apparently until this year it was illegal to bring in fresh ones into the U.S., these were great.
Baby African Pineapple, tastes just like regular pineapple, but the core is edible.

Ok, now back to another Coke Secret Ingredient Recipes, this time with Coke Zero, now I don't drink coke at all, can't stand it, so I didn't think this would be any good, but they made an asisan chicken with Coke Zero as the sauce and it was great, had a bit of kick too. I also don't go for asian cooking too much, but this was good.

We then had some time to kill, so we got some San Adreas Milkshakes (ok, no pictures will be coming of these as we forgot to take them oops). which were great as always, Eva got the Shaker O Mud (Bugs life theme shake with chocolate cookies mixed in with gummy worms) and I got Butterfingers in mine.

So, now over to the presentation from Boudin Bakery, we learn how to make Creme Puffs! Yummy, not just creme puffs, but swan shaped creme puffs. These were great and the baker showed us how to make them easier as they are normally quite complicated. I so hope they put the recipes online again this year, as I don't think our notes were very good from this one. Well, at least I have pictures of our samples before we devoured them.
O, this sign was made entirely out of Sourdough Bread:

Then afterwards we did the Bread Factory Tour and the Tortilla Factory tour, then we got Non-alcholic frozen drink (a Rasberry Pineaple flavor) - Sorry no pictures from this one either, but there wasn't anything fancy to it.

Then we got two cups of cold water.

Ok, sorry, this is all we did for this year's festival, since we don't drink we weren't sure how much we would enjoy it, next year I am sure we will be there more.

We have a video of the Chicken Recipe, if I can figure out how to upload it.

great review and description of the DL F&W - have seen photos of the food offerings, and although the quantity is less than the WDW F&W, the quality and presentation of the DL foods is outstanding!!

Those demos sound really interesting! I posted a gazillion photos (and still have a few gazillion more) and thought they really had a lot of great stuff for the festival. My review is still in a work in progress, though. ;)

If nobody's complaining that I'm posting mine, I'm sure you can post yours, too.

The cream puff swans our so cute. I have a couple dinner parties this month and would love to know how to make a dessert like that. Did they give out any printed instructions? Looking forward to seeing your video when it's uploaded. YouTube is probably easy to use. We have a Disney recipe exchange in case you wanted to add any recipes from the festival.

******BUMP******

Because more people should see the "other" food and wine festival....:cool1:
