2008 Epcot Flower Power Concert Schedule

Who are the Tokens and why do they have to be playing while I am there???

Disney found out when you were going and conspired at no expense spared to make sure the Tokens were there when you were going. Please advise them of any changes in your schedule.:dance3:

Jose Feliciano - not to be missed. We attended three of his concerts last year and he didn't repeat a single song.

He does it all - Jazz, Blues, Rock & Roll, Classical Guitar, Country. His voice and his guitar work is phenomenal.

Once each set he was joined by his two young sons on drums and guitar. He said they call the group "Two Kids and a Blind Guy".

The last Madman of Rock and Roll. Love this guy and his cornball humor. He'll be 70 years old for next year's performance.

Think if you will, of Rip Taylor playing the keyboard!

That is what you get with PR and the Raiders. Very entertaining- and corny!

GOOD FUN!

by the way... another great pic Otter49!

and when they get serious they play some great music as well. Their version of "We gotta get out of this place" last year really brought the house down. A really entertaining show.

Thanks for the schedule.

OK, so it appears that, during our trip, B.J. Thomas will be playing. I have just 2 questions:

Who the heck is he?

What kind of music does he play?

Thanks.

BJ Thomas sang Raindrops Keep Fallin on My Head, Hooked on a Feelin and had other hits. Think late 60's pop music. :)

B. J. Thomas born Billy Joe Thomas, 7 August 1942, Hugo, Oklahoma) is a country and pop music/gospel/soft rock/easy listening singer.

Career
Thomas grew up around Houston, Texas, and is an alumnus of Lamar Consolidated High School in Rosenberg, Texas. Before his solo career, Thomas was with the musical group The Triumphs[1].

In 1966, B. J. Thomas and The Triumphs released the album, I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry (Pacemaker Records). The album featured a hit cover of the Hank Williams song, "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry". In the same year, Thomas released a solo album of the same name (Scepter Records).

Thomas achieved mainstream success again in 1968, with the single "Hooked on a Feeling", which featured the sound of an electric sitar. "Hooked on a Feeling", was first released on the album On My Way (Scepter Records). While the 1969 film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, featured Thomas performing the (Burt Bacharach and Hal David) song "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head". "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" was the number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 1970. The song was also released on the album of the same name.

In 1975, Thomas released the album Reunion (ABC Records), which contained what would become his second number one hit single, "(Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song." Earlier hits include, "Just Can't Help Believing" (Billboard #9 in 1970) and "Mighty Clouds of Joy".

Noted tracks of the 1980s, include, "Two Car Garage", "Whatever Happened to Old Fashioned Love" and "New Looks from an Old Lover" (see 1984 in music).

Thomas scored another hit, recording "As Long As We Got Each Other", the theme to Growing Pains with Jennifer Warnes. A later version, used for the show's fourth season, was recorded with the British singer Dusty Springfield. Thomas first released this track on his 1985 album Throwing Rocks At The Moon (Columbia Records).

Thomas has also authored two books and starred in the movie "Jory". Several commercial jingles, to include Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and Bell phone systems, featured his voice and music.

Thomas has continued to record and tour, maintaining a smaller but loyal fan base. He has also found some new fans in Contemporary Christian Music. In 2002 he charted his first single since the late 1980s, with "You Call That A Mountain" from the album of the same name.

I saw B.J. Thomas at EPCOT a while ago. The years have not affected his voice at all, and that is rare.

However, he is not much of a showman- he sings the songs and that's about it. No jokes, no patter with the audience, no fancy costumes, no charisma.

Maybe that has changed now. Like I said, I saw him a while ago and I just don't remember much about it.

I'm pleased that someone else remembers when Steppenwolf was there. I, too, would love to see them come back. However, I heard that Disney deemed them to be too loud (Hello...didn't the Disney people listen to any of their music beforehand?) Listening to Steppenwolf sing "Magic Carpet Ride" as we all sat calmly in Epcot seemed so funny!

I am trying so hard to be patient but it is driving me crazy waiting to see who will be there when we will be there May 28th thru the end of the festival!!

Are there any strategies/tips for securing a decent seat? I'll be there on Davy Jones' last day, May 15.

TIA:goodvibes :flower3:

Last year people were already in line by 2:00 the day I went to see him. So, my only suggestion is to get in line early if you want a good seat. But Davy is all over the place on stage, so no matter where you sit, you'll be able to see him.

I hope they add the Turtles in there somewhere. I'll be really bummed if they don't come this year.
