2008 Disneyland Half - Who's Going?

Does anyone have a phone number to call Disney Endurance/marathon people? I tried emailing them regarding the email that was send out about the "special " coast to coast medal that I never recieved that email. I am elligible for it and want to make sure that I get my wrist band.

Tracy, you have to bring your medal, your race number, and your race ASI photo of you crossing the finish line as proof of you entering the half last January. :lmao:

Don't sweat it, just check with the customer services at the Expo. As long as you finished, you must be in their system.

Anyways, here's an email for them: disneylandhalf@trackshack.com

Here's a link to search for your waiver (you must print it at home and bring it to the expo): http://www.trackshack.com/disneysports/dlwaiver/dlverify.php

Thanks Jeff, (also for the emails!! haha) I tried that email but it is not working any longer and so I try the return address for DL 1/2 that was on your email. I don't think I will have any problems but want to make sure!!

Tracy: Try this email address disneylandhalf@trackshack.com as I recived a response last week from them. They changed from EMMI to Track Shack. Jon Hughes owns TS and is the RD for WDW & DL. EMMI was sub company he used for the races.

Now I have this vision of walking thru the parks and Jeff walking by yelling WISH WISH WISH and expecting me to snap off photos :lmao: Jeff I would love to be behind you as you run by the ASI photographers yelling at them, I'm sure THEY will give strange looks but then again maybe not especially with Bananas running the races (at least in 2006 they did)

I will be in my shoes a LOT. :thumbsup2 I kept thinking I had more time/miles left in these shoes and last weekend proved I was very very wrong. I have more confidence in these new shoes than the spare New Balance I have that are low in mileage still. (btw... I do like new balance but my feet and my 1223's just are not feeling the love towards each other).

Going to toss in the cow bell. I will introduce myself by saying 'Say Cheese Jeff" and snap! Photo taken ;)

Can't wait to say Hi next Friday!!! Jambo Juice? I will double check the location and find it on the DTD map so I know with the hope we make it over there Friday/Saturday.

Diane,

I recommend that you wear those shoes every moment you get between now and next week. New shoes for races are a big NO NO! Get used to them, so wear them around the house, and to work, and anywhere else on top of the training your doing. You need to break them in, even if your old pair were the same make and model. You don't want blisters.

Bring the bell, annoying is good when it comes to spectating! :thumbsup2

Is that what I have to do to get my picture taken, see anyone with a camera and shout WISH!!! WISH!!! They'll all be looking at me funny, and wondering out loud "what the hell did he say?" :lmao:

Tracy, we printed out the e-mails (one addressed to each of us) and are bringing them with us, we figured that would be proof that we deserved the wristband!

Reminder WISH meets on Friday and Saturday, 7 pm in front of Jamba Juice in Downtown Disney.

Because some WISHers wouldn't have park tickets, or park hoppers, it would be easier to meet where there lots of food and drink options.

Post 5K and half marathon meet up at the family reunion section, under "W" tent for WISH.

Hope to meet you there, and put a face to your AVATAR name!

Duplicated from my Disneyrunning.com thread post. For your viewing enjoyment.

this being my first race, I have to ask...people really dress up like that to run the 1/2?? lol

Yes, I have run with Mickey a few times and Minnie more times than I can count. My first or second year I ran with Cruella DeVille and about 20 of her puppies (guys dressed as Dalmations). Last year I ran with Mr & Mrs Incredible and started the run with a spartan warrior. I have run alongside both the American and British flag carriers, Pizza Dude and a guy in street shoes.

I saw Spartan Dude. Amazing that he runs in that full suit.

Here at the Honolulu Marathon, there are Hawaiian Warriors barefoot, Robo Cop, all kinds of Japanese characters, Japanese wooden Geta slippers, guys in Crocs, brides and grooms, and the list goes on and on.

Here's some outfits from the Mickey Marathon in January.

Testing, testing, testing. Check one, check two, check three.

Hellllllllllloooooooooooooooo is anyone out there?

Testing, Testing, 1 2 3, Test......This is a test.... Haha.

There was much more chatter on the Minnie May15K thread right before than this thing!!!

I have 6 more sleeps until I leave. I got over to my Mount Trashmore last night and it was awesome with all the wind and especially the wind at the top!! I am doing well with the taper. Could not get my 4 miles in tonight do to FAY's feeder band rains that are just trying to flood all of Florida!!. I will try to make it up tomorrow. Off to the bank tomorrow to get my cash for the trip!!. I am pretty sure I have all my paper work that I need for the trip. I think I will pack my laptop so I can send photos as I take them and put stuff on my blog.

Hope all is well with everyone and can't wait to see all the Wishers!!

me! me! getting ready to go home, though...

I have to add about the Flamingos. They took their color seriously right down to their PINK Clif Shots. They were a HOOT! You just had to grin when you saw them all together!

That Ninja dude was in the 2006 DL right? I forgot about him.

Mr Incredible has been seen at most of the longer races. I know he did the Goofy this year. I had to stop and talk to him after the Full. We had dinner at the same place. I have spotted him at a couple (if not all) of my longer Disney (and the 2006 DL) races and found it funny that I don't know this guy but see him often at these things. Come to find out his Mom I think lives near me and Mr Incredible trains at a nearby park. Funny to be in FL talking to MR Incredible and come to find out he knows and has been to the park I train in. The world is truly a small place. :)

Today i did 2 miles at the gym on the TM. Did really good actually. Then followed it up with 4 miles at the park with DH mostly slow then ran the final 1/2 mile so we could finish up and get dinner :thumbsup2 Tomorrow we'll do 6 miles but will probably be a lot of trip talk ;)

Tomorrow night is the Marathon so we'll be glue to our tv :cheer2: I haven't caught the Olympics for the last 2 nights.

Tomorrow night is the Marathon so we'll be glue to our tv .

I had to catch the women's marathon on NBC replay site. Unfortunately there is no commentary, just the race.

Did anyone else catch Paula Radcliff take a detour to the side of the road just at the half marathon mark? She had to squat down, pull her shorts to the side, and PEE!!! There is even a slow motion replay of it. Fortunately it wasn't a close up shot. :happytv:

Counting the days!

It's been an insane week -- we're interviewing for a new tech writer at work, my three kids go back to school on Monday (which means "open house" at their respective schools was this week), and I need to nail down the last minute details of our trip (like our Ridemax schedules for the Disney attractions). I'm really excited. The weather (considering it could change) looks pretty darned good -- which may result in both a more comfortable race and more crowded parks than last year. But I'm not going to obsess about it. It is what it is. It's Disneyland with my family, and that is going to be AWESOME! I think I've finally gotten over the summer cold that has plagued me the last week or so, though I still feel a bit tired. Not planning on much of a long run this weekend, just to make sure I'm rested and ready for the travel and time change and all that park trekking! Wahoo!

Jamba Juice -- 7PM. I think I can remember that!

Wendy:
Thanks for the RideMAX info. I just signed up so I can get a schedule for the parks on Saturday since that is the only day I can do both parks. I just want to see the major stuff and mostly stuff that WDW doesn't offer.

Tracy

Hi All,
Just checking in with everyone. I'm totally excited about next week. I hope I can get some miles in this weekend (even with my recovering foot).

If not, I'm not going to worry about it. I'm just going to do my best to finish AND help motivate any other WISHer's along the way... but I'll probably be the last one to finish. :lmao:
