Sorry, but a search didn't give me any definitive answer.

Does the 08 Dining Plan pricing (which dumps the apps and tip) still include tax. I saw a post saying that you may pay the $38 (or so) PLUS tax up front, negating even the tax savings that we had before.

The plan is looking like a real loser to me now, but with my trip just over a month away, I'm trying to find out as much info as I can. I loved the 07' plan, but losing 20% of the value (even if you couldn't eat it all) is discouraging.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the tax is included in the total package.

The per day price includes tax on all meals (TS and CS) and snacks.

pretty sure the $36.99 - remember a dollar less than $37.99 (this year's) includes tax

otherwise Disney would be saying $39.21 - they have been pretty good lately about including tax - even in their room quotes. (which they didn't use to do)

just be sure to include the tip (which this plan DOES NOT)

But the new plan DOES NOT include TIPs so in reallity, it is much more expensive now. :cool1:

Confirmed, $37.99 TOTAL cost, no appetizer, no tip. I'm very dissapointed with the changes, but it's still cheaper than MY family would eat otherwise.

However, in some ways it's good. The servers will actually have to EARN their tips now, as many of them certainly didn't on our last trip. I tip well for good service, but poor service gets......

It is a loser in comparison to 2007, but you still can maximize your savings IF you pick your restaurants carefully and make advance reservations of course.

If you dig a little on the mousesavers.com site, it has a page on how to get the most out of the 2008 dining plan. There are some common sense things (like picking table service for the evening meal), but it also lists the most expensive restaurants for table-service and more substantial restaurants for quick-service. There are a few quick-service locations that sound great and I never would have thought of. Their article convinced me that I could still do the dining plan in 2008, and it would be like paying for my dinner but getting my lunch and snack for free. The only thing that I'm not happy about, is that my 10 year old is an ADULT in the eyes of Disney, but still would have been happy with the kids meal. I certainly won't get my money's worth -- I'm sure she'll want to order the cheapest, plainest past she can find!

One other change for 2008 DDP is snacks are changing to single service item only. What I was told on our Dec. 2007 trip from SSR CM's is that no longer will you be able to purchase a box of cookies, large bag of chips, box of donuts etc.... I was told a single service example was a brownie, a muffin, bottle drink, etc... Another change that strikes a major blow to the value of the 2008 DDP. I wish Disney would not be soo money hungry and leave somethings the way they were. I suppose the only recourse we have is not to purchase the DDP and eat offsite, but that is very inconvenient, even with a car.

But why do you have to eat offsite? We can still eat more ecconomically by using the DDE card for a 20% discount and then eat breakfast and a snack in the villa. That's what the kitchens are there for.

We will likely go back to our old way of doing things, which is one sit down a day with breakfast and a light lunch or supper in the villa. It was always more ecconomical that way before, and it will be again...just not as convenient as the DDP was.

I WISH I could get a DDE card, but am not a Florida resident or an Annual Pass Holder. There's no other way to get one, is there?

So, if you can get the DDE card, do you think that's a better deal than the DDP? I have the same issue a previous poster mentioned. My 11 yr.old eats like a bird - is very happy ordering the majority of her meals off the children's menu. Don't think I'd be getting my money's worth if I purchased the dining plan and had her charged as an adult. We do like to do TS every night of our trip - but I'm a drinks and apps. kind of girl - think I lose out there also with the DDP. Am I missing something?

I have to throw in here.. i'm leaving for my first trip "Home" tomorrow... DH wanted me to do the dinning plan, which we did our last trip, but I didn't like the changes in 2008. So I sat down, figured out where I had TS meals and how much I would spend on those meals OOP.. added a $13 CS meal a day and a $5 snack and still came out ahead.. it would have been at least $120 OOP with DDE and it's $114 w Dinning Plan... and that gives me a bit more food then the $120 does.. so that turned out to decide for me... and i so wanted to get the DDE this trip :)

I did the same thing as some did about the 2008 DDO. I calculated the cost for most of the meals and where and what we like to eat. It will still be a better deal for us to do the DDP. If we ate off site at a decent place, we would probably still spend 15-20 dollars each. Add in the character meals we like to eat and the snack and you have more spent than the DDP. This will be the last year I imagine. My grandson turns 3 before our next trip in 2009. He for sure won't eat that much food so we won't be doing the DDP or many of the character meals. Most of the character meals are buffet and they will require he has his own meal. He eats very little and not what the kids meals include. One more year for good food!

I know thats too bad.....you could get breakfast makings for
the week with the snack credits....

Figures....I just figured that out on my last trip:lmao:

I think this was a loophole that Disney never intended and boy folks used it....

It's said "Snack" not "meals for a week" I am truly shocked it took them this long to fix this loophole!

Does anyone know if this is true? Did they eliminate the box of donuts??:scared1:

LOL I loves those!!:rotfl:

Seriously though, did they make these changes? Can anyone confirm?

Since this thread is DDP specific (not DVC) with continuing questions, I am sending it over to the DDP board where the answers should be available. Thanks all!
