****2008 Ddp FAQ****

Tips are paid out of pocket, just like you would do at home if you ate at Chili's, TGI Fridays, Saltgrass Steakhouse, etc.

From what I read the deluxe plan allows for EVERY person to get an appetizer and dessert at a TS resturant. Is that correct? We have 7 people on the deluxe plan so does that mean we will have 7 appetizers?

There have been a lot of people having problems with multiple posts.

Yes, everyone on the deluxe receives an appy and a dessert. Many have posted recently, that the portions have decreased in size. I don't think it's easy to share your appys, desserts, etc as it once was.

That is interesting they added appitizers for 3-9. huh....

Nevermind, my mistake. Its says for guests 3-9 :headache:

I am new to the DDP.. never considered it b/c of the cost for 6 of us.. But I got the PIN code for 40% off and I downgraded from a deluxe to 2 rooms at POP and added the 1 day base tickets and DDP for only $600 more than my 10 nights at Poly. So for 10 nights, 2 rooms at POP, 1 day base and the DDP, it was $2900.

Now, I see the kids get an appy.. I have 3 kids (one is 10). Can I hubby and I use their appy credit? They will use them sometimes but not always.

The 10 year old will not receive an appetizer. No, you can not use the kids credit for an adult appy. A kids appy is something like chicken noodle soup or carrot sticks.

Unless you are getting the Deluxe Dining Plan, there is no appetizer. Only DXDP has an appetizer, regular DDP TS does not.

I've just started really planning for our April trip. Now I'm obsessed. I've got so much "non-disney" work to do, but who wants to do that? I want to go to Disney, or at least know what I'm going to do when I get there. I'm desperately trying to decide if the dining plan is right for us. The gratuity thing is really throwing me. Our daughter is 11 so we'll have 3 adults and one child, so to think we'll pay 130 - 140 per day (depending on tax) plus whatever else we buy as I'm sure there will be an extra soft drink or two at least throughout the day plus tip. Our last trip I planned for each day by listing what type of meals we would eat and I put cash in envelopes labeled for each day. We never used all of the money and then had the extra to roll over for souviniers etc. I also didn't spend near that per day. We didn't eat table service for every meal, but I don't know if I want to take the time out of the parks for that anyway. We have a toddler and nice meals out aren't always nice!! I need to do the math and decide. I dreamed about the DDP last night. I need help! ;)

FWIW, the DDP includes one snack per person per day, tha would cover a bottled or fountain soda.

WHAT PIN CODE FOR 40%!!!??? TELL ME PLEASE!!!!

Quick question - we just returned (1/10-1/15) on DDP. We were always able to use our cs for breakfast for one entree, one juice and one water or coffee. This time (Gasparilla's at the GF) the cashier insisted it was only one drink with a cs breakfast. I didn't have time to argue so I just used snack credits for the water.

Has this changed or was she mistaken? We're doing a Grand Gathering in July and I don't want to give wrong information! Thanks.

It's definitely still 2 drinks at breakfast. It's stated right in Disneys 2008 brochure. If you think of it in July, maybe you could have one with you to show the cashier.

Thanks - for some reason the cashier at Gasparilla's had some really bad information about the dining plan. She gave me (and another guest) a hard time about the kids meals having fries and grapes with them. She wanted to charge me a snack credit for the grapes - luckily the girl making the food explained it to her.

Just another note - when I was checking out at Main St. confectioner's (rice krispy mickeys for a snack credit) I heard the cashier telling another guest that anything under $4.00 was still a snack credit. I don't know if she was misinformed or if they are still doing the $4.00 and under in that particular store.

Is the price per day on the DDP taxed? If it is, I will almost exactly break even. Otherwise, I'll save the amount of the tax.

The price per person for the meal plan in the current 2008 DDP brochure does not include tax; I don't know what the Florida meal tax is, but that percentage is added to the meal when the expense is incurred and is included as part of the package costs (not an additional expense to you).
I know it's a struggle to decide if it's worth it.
Our family really saving a lot of money, and went to some great restaurants (LeCellier, Boma, 'Ohana), and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. But, we were willing to take that time away from the park each day to relax at dinner.
Some people might want to keep on touring the parks - especially if it's during a busy season - and only eat semi-quick counter service meals.
It's really something you just need to think about , but don't over stress, you don't want to burn out before you get to disney! Have fun on your trip :)

Does someone know--I don't think this question was every clearly answered--are DVC members entitled to participate in the "upgraded" plans (i.e., Platinum) and if so what are the daily costs?
