My DH came home tonight with the 2008 Birnbaum Book and it has 3 paragraphs specifically dedicated to DVC. Below is a quote:

"For a one-time purchase price and annual dues, members can enjoy vacation stays at Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas, Old Key West Resort, Contemporary, BeachClub Villas, BoardWalk Villas Resort, the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge and Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa at WDW."

It then goes on to mention Vero Beach and Hilton Head.

Did I miss the official announcement, or is this just speculation?

I would say this is a case of the cart getting before the horse, but I think it is a done deal anyway.

Birnbaum - isn't that the 'official' guide book?

There you have it - it's been officially announced :teeth:

Note it didn't say that Contemporary was a DVC resort. Technically, we can stay at the Contemporary Resort using our points.

Hey, just trying to give Disney a graceful exit strategy and plausible deniability! :rotfl2:

That's a nice slip up.:thumbsup2

I cant wait to stay there. I'm not sure if I will be buying points there or not. It depends on how large it will be. I know it will be in high demand.

OP nice catch:thumbsup2 and to think that i thought that guide was no more than a fluff piece for Disney.;) what proofreader/editor didn't catch that slip?:rotfl:

What! No mention of the Grand Californian Villas?!? Perhaps they made a boo boo.....

Direct quote from the Birnbaum's 2007 Walt Disney World : The OFFICIAL Guide:

Disney Vacation Club:

Disney Vacation Club grants members the convenience of flexible vacations from yeart to year, with the ability to choose when and where to visit, how long to stay, and the type of accommodations. It starts with the purchase of a real estate interest in a Disney Vacation Club property. For a one-time purchase price and annual dues, members can enjoy vacation stays at Old Key West Resort, the Beach Club Villas, BoardWalk Villas Resort, the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, and Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa at Walt Disney World. There is no mention of the Contemporary or the ability to stay at "regular" Disney Resorts in the 2007 Guide.

Here's to hoping that Disney's Contemporary Villas are soon to come, and that the Birnbaum's 2008 edition just jumped the gun!

I was at the Mouse HOuse last week. Isn't all that construction at the Contemporary for the new Villas???

"We can neither confirm nor deny the presence of a child in Monstropolis." :rotfl2:

This quote in the "Official" guide was almost certainly written by someone without inside information, just trying to keep things up to date for 2008. DVC will tear its hair out the next few weeks/months as it tries to gently remind such WDW personnel that (unlike the rest of the world) they don't know what is being built at CR.

With the new policy in place, would not a stay at Contemporary require a processing fee to use points, therefore, I submit that it would not have been included in the list. As one can see there is no listing of other Resorts because of the need to pay the fee.

Good find!

So, do you ALWAYS believe EVERYTHING you read???? I've learned never to take things word for word.... Especially when it is something that is being reported on.

Of course I believe everything I read, all the time:thumbsup2

especially what I read on message boards:teacher:

and, if it's what i want to hear:banana: :dance3:
