2008, 24th/28th Aug - *Double Dipping with the Bahama Mamas* (Part 2)

Hi everyone~
Jen it sounds like your trip has been extremely rewarding for Em (and you too!!) I can't wait to hear all about it

I am getting ready to turn in for the night as I have been up since 4:30 am. I had to take my sister to the hospital this morning at 5:30 for surgery and she didn't come out of recovery and into a room until 3pm. Needless to say it has been a very long day. Long story short she swallowed something as a child that never passed through her stomach and now at 37 years old it was finally bothering her to the point of only weighing 95 lbs. today at check in They were going to try to remove it either through and endoscopy or laporoscopy, but in the end they had to make a six inch incision up from her navel. Poor thing thought she was going to be out in less than 24 hours but she will be there for a few days at least. My nieces are with their dad (divorced) so I felt so bad leaving her She was pretty out of it though when I left and I will go back up in the morning so I probably won't be around again The surgeon brought the thing they removed out in a specimen jar for us and it looks like an oval shaped link of some sort We are thinking it may have been a barrette or something so tell all your young ones NOT to put anything in their mouths

Mandy, how is the painting going, I wish I had walls to paint, So far ours are just studs, I wanted it done, and painted before we go so that the transition back to school was smooth, but that is not going to happen. I'm wondering how to get the fish extenders finished.

Yes we are going to Emerald Mountain.

Jen, That is amazing about Em. It is so cool when someone actually does something that others said was impossible.

Suzanne - Sorry to hear about your sister, hopefully your sister will heal fast and start to feel better!

Hi

I'm back from our trips. Sunday to Tuesday was camping with a friend and the kids then it was home drop off friend and pick up DH and head to Smithers (six hours away) for eye doctor's appt. for DD. We stayed over night as I absolutely love Smithers. It's a small town also but at least they have seasons. It was 35C hot and humid. It's actually been hot and sunny here all week but our one week of summer is just about over as it's supposed to rain for the next seven days.

We leave one week today for WDW!!!! Guess I better start thinking about packing. (and no we still haven't received our cruise documents - I'm starting to stress!!!)

Jen - so glad to hear that Toronto went well.

Hi Guys

It is hard to beleive it is Friday and Em has just one more session with Simona. I am really sad to leave as this has been an amazing trip for Em and for me too. Simona is one in a million and I have developed a bond that will last a lifetime!

We meet up with Jeanette and Teya yesterday and that too was a very emotional meeting. Sarah and Teya really hit it off despite the language barrier as Teya is deaf. Sarah is gung ho to hook up with the teachers in school who sign so she can communicate better with Teya when we come back. You have no idea how good it felt to talk to a person in real life who totally understands what I have been going through. Jeanette really gets it. She knows.

So here we are. One session to go. It has been a lot of hard work for Em. She has worked beautifully with Simona. She is testing me of course. I most nervous that I won;t be able to do the exercizes justice. I just want to keep her moving forward until we see Simona again - Hopefully in October in Montreal..

It sounds like everyone is really getting geared up for our trip! I'll be able to focus on that once we are home.

I love reading about all of your preparations!

Hi All

I've been off work this week, so have got a lot done.We got to the lake twice!!! However I missed the inside of my arms with the sunscreen on Thursday and now have a sunburn, Hope I don't peel. I did a truck load of laundry and packing. And for all of you who have daughters that won't give up their clothes, you should have my daughter who emptied all her drawers and closet and I had to put back more than half of her clothes

I am a little behind but will try to catch up.

Diane- Sorry to hear about the foot. Maybe with a walking boot you might get special treatment. Sounds like Rebecca is on her way to a future Olympics. Good luck with that

Jen- Glad to hear about Em, and glad you brought a video camera to capture the moments. It is such a struggle and a blessing to finally find the right therapist

Sandy- Good luck on your FE. You are a braver soul then me. I got mine on e-bay

Suzanne- Hope your sister makes a quick recovery. Must have been a shock going in for a minor procedure and coming out from a surgery

Mandy- I have been promising my son that I would paint his room for about 6 months now and have not even started. So you get the Good Mom Award

Well we are leaving in 1 week Friday afternoon, but we need to take a side trip to visit with our nephew. He is in a rehabilitation center in Charleston SC but he is due to be transfered to Atlanta GA this Monday. A little bit out of the way but not too far.

I had a busy day at work today, working on my Disney stuff. I started to organize a soft binder with all of my travel information, made my mousekeeping tip envelopes for WDW and made copies of our passports to leave with my parents. I finally finished my FE shopping and will organize this weekend. And of course since Taylor is done with camp I will have to start packing I hope that everyone has a good night! I'll check in tomorrow.

Sorry I've been scarce lately! Been busy as usual - seems as the trip gets closer there is more to do - and not so much TRIP stuff, but stuff to do here and at work before the trip, ya know??

Anyway - I will TRY to catch up this weekend if I can, but forgive me if I don't!!

We had "Frosty Friday" here last night - too much partying going on! LOL I am prepping for that trip that way too!!!

Mandy - I am doing single digit dance today - according to my DVC countdown I have 9 days, 13 hours and 43 minutes!! So, are we going to see any pics of your painting???? I HATE to paint! LOL

I forgot to mention that I had a great morning with the girls in town. I got Kerry a lovely top (which she refuses to put away for the holiday - she drives me nuts !!! ) and I got Becky some PJ's and some bits and pieces.

Kerry bought herself some cute heart shaped sunglasses and a Sex and the City DVD and Becky bought a Fall Out Boy poster for her freshly painted bedroom

The girls have gone to their friend Bex's tonight, so Paul and I have got a night out - woohoo !! We're going to see the X Files movie and have a nice meal somewhere

WE ARE FINALLY HOME!!!

The train was uneventful. Then the fun started. It took us an hour to cross the bridge from Canada to US Customs.. In its self this would not have been bad except we had been on the train for 4 hours.. So we get up to customs, hand over our passports and when the guy asks us what we have been doing in Toronto for a week and we say physical therapy for our daughter we are pegged to get inspected!They confiscated our passports! We had to pull over, go into customs, fill out paperwork and they inspected our car! Can you even believe it???!

Needless to say it took a heck of a lot longer to get home.


On the bright side I can't wait to meet you guys in just 2 weeks!!!

I'll check in tomorrow! I think I'll even be around for sailaway!
