2008-2009 Cheer Parent Thread!!!!

Yes, at our old gym, (me, the twink and O mom) we were discouraged from interacting with others, lucky for me I am at a gym that lets us be "free" now too! I LOVE it, I even can room with my WC peeps when we go to the same comps. I could have been kicked out of our old gym for that last year! Sometimes you just never know how green the grass actually is on the other side until you go. LOL about the OKW! that's a true Dis mom in action! You will be at cheersport right? I can't wait to see your daughter's team!

No Cheersport for us this year!! Steph's team is going to Dallas!!

I congratualted a few of the parents of my DD's old gym yesterday. I said their Dd's did very well. NOT ONE of them asked how my DD was nor did.

BUT..........it was evident (a few of my still friends from the old gym) told me they never saw her so happy and confident in the air!!! My good friend said she nearly cried when she saw her shining!! That was such a great compliment.........

Oh darn... about cheersport but I LOOOOOVEEE NCA! you will rock it for sure! Take Spirit of Texas down a notch while you are there will ya? lol! They are so darn clean!
Sometimes the ones left behind are just a bit bitter, proud or jealous so ya just gotta let it go, your true friends will be happy for you, (as they were!) Good Luck in Dallas!!!! get those NCA jackets! to me they are the holy grail of cheer jackets! lol..

Rosemary...I absolutely love Celeb's Youth 5...they are the bomb! I got to see them both days. I missed Steph's team both days though!!!

Our Jr 5 kids were ecstatic..not only their first Nationals but their first time on the mat this season!!!

Your Jr coed team was AMAZING!! I really enjoyed their choreography, routine and skills. So happy they got a bid to Worlds.

Steph had a GREAT weekend. She did a fantastic job and it was great that so many of my friends from our former gym came up to me and let me know how fantastic she looked and how happy she looked. This change of gyms has been such a positive move for her and it is great to see her so happy doing what she loves to do.

Next stop for our team will be JamFest LIve in Providence. I think it is on Valentine's Day and then Dallas!!! Where she will try her damndest to get that black jacket!!!! LOL!! The SuperBowl trophy of all!!!

How did your girls do?

We had a great weekend. Went to a small ASC regional competition to work out the kinks of the new routines before Cheersport in a couple of weeks. The new routines looked great and everybody did extremely well.

They did pretty good. The didn't win but they scored high enough for a bid to South Carolina.

We leave for Orlando on Wednesday for UCA Nationals. Is anyone else going? I can't wait! Keep your fingers crossed for us.

I think any time you get a large group of teenagers together you're going to have noise and excitement. The posters see groups of girls clapping and making noise - I see teams of girls proud of their squads, gyms and schools.

Hey Guys!!! I havent been on the Dis in MONTHS!! How is everyone doing?? Good luck in Georgia!! Anyone going to Tampa Fair this weekend??

We don't have another comp until March, but our Small Senior 5 squad (Central Mississippi Cheerleading) is going to be at Cheersport in Atlanta next weekend to try and get a Worlds Bid. Wish them luck!!!

For those keeping up, my dd still has not gotten her BHS back. She will do it in the pit and on the floor if someone is standing there but she won't do it herself. I am contemplating letting her go to the other gym to see if working with other coaches will do the trick.

Thanks - We really needed today - they did so awesome!!!

They competed against 9 other squad's in their High School Varsity small squad and they got 1st place as well as best stunt's (a plaque) and Grand Champion's.

The girls are so excited and on top of the world. Tomorrow they have a competition in their own High School, so it's a great that they go in to tomorrow on this exciting awesome win........

After the girls fell apart two weeks ago - the girls were arguing with each other, just all together melt down. They spent a whole night talking about their attitudes, went through some team building activities - including midnight bowling last Friday night (very strange having your 16 year old coming home at 2am, lol). I swear it seem's every year they go through a meltdown and then they bond again and go on to do well. I think it's because they have been working so hard doing football cheerleading, basketball cheerleading (both boys and girls), gymnastics, practices and competitions. That much being together for so many month's sort of leads to them having a meltdown. Glad it's over and they moved on. Today was priceless and it was so good for them to hold their heads high after the fiasco two weeks ago where they walked away in last place. Course they were orginally competing by themselves two weeks ago after the other team in their division dropped out, but the girls moved to the large squad division because they wanted to compete against other squads.
