2007 Transatlantic and First Med cruises thread

Happy New Year to all!

Ken - that was our favorite float!

Kelly - great pictures, makes me want to get there in person one day!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey Everybody - Happy New Year! Great photos Kelly - loved them all. Glad to hear that everyone is doing well. Hadley, I am miserable, sad and down and out taking down all the decorations - I would REALLY be sad having to put them away for years. I know you, you will do something special for when you are in Germany. You always have something fun up your sleeve. Deb, I tried to contact you at the Boardwalk, but apparently I got the wrong date or something because we didn't meet up. Sorry we missed. Checked the boards to see if you were checking in, but maybe next time. Hope mom had a great time while you were here. Weather was perfect! I am about to make some crab dip and go to the neighbors for dinner. Everyone have fun and will catch up again soon!

Hi Everyone.

Ken--tell your DD awesoem job:thumbsup2

Kelly--love the photos

Lynn and Scott--have a fantastic trip:goodvibes

Sandi--we will make it fun next year for sure. I am not sure how/what but we will do it;) I am jealous of your warm weather. WE warmed up here today--al the way to 22 degrees:rotfl2:

Just popping on to bag about Marika:goodvibes

After a nearly four hour long, grueling test she has passed and is now a black belt:cheer2:

 We best stay on her good side I guess:rotfl2:

Congratulations to Marika. Curt also received his black belt this weekend. It was also almost 4 hours.

Good Morning Cruisers!

Congrats to Marika! Congrats to Curt! That is quite an accomplishment!

We are safely home, the dogs have been picked up from the kennel and are romping in the back yard! The birds are back at the bird feeder now that it is full again!

Yesterday was a long day, one bag did not make it in on our flight, but was on the next flight - so we waited at the Denver airport for an extra 2 1/2 hours for our bag - it was the one with all the souveniers from the races, we did not want to lose that! Delta did buy us dinner - not a fancy dinner, but dinner none the less. We got home at 11pm, went straight to bed, as on the time zone we had been in, it was 1am!

Almost the whole time we were in WDW, it was only about 2 degrees warmer there than it was here in Cheyenne! Our sweatshirts got a good workout!

Have a great day!

Lyn - I wish I would have known you and Scott were in town. We would have loved to see you. It has been cold here, but not as cold as Cheyenee! Did you find the parks crowded?

Susie--tell Curt congratulations:cheer2: that is such a huge accomplishment.

Lynn--sorry about the cold weather in FLorida (it was worse up here--high of 4 one day and 6 days in a row with highs in the single digits--all that before wind chill:faint: ) NOnetheless a January vacation to LForida is supposed to be WARM and relaxing. I am glad your suitcase made it eventually. We are looking forward to seeing you and Scott Firday.

So everyone, we had a surreal weekend. We leave for Germany in only 9 days :crazy2: GULP--so we posted that we were having a big inddor moving sale (remember those single digit temps?). It is strange watching people walk through your home and buy all of your belongings. The dining table is gone, the chairs are gone, so are the TV, bookcases, many toys and games, the desk, Rio's bunk beds, etc. The sofas are sold but luckily to a friend so we will have somewhere to sit and they will pick them up the day before we leave. Weird, weird feeling!

Hadley - I cannot imagine selling everything! You are a strong woman and if I were in your shoes, I would be crying and I know you are not - sending tons of hugs and smiles your way. I cannot believe 9 days!! We are sooo excited for you.:grouphug:

I think I would be crying a combination of tears because of getting rid of all my stuff...tears from the stress of it all...and tears of joy to actually be able to SELL all the stuff. I'm thanking Hadley's lucky stars for her that many of the planets have clearly aligned (*knock on wood*) in her favor....from the ability for Dave to find a job without having to spend a long time unemployed...to the opportunity (even though it's a huge undertaking) to move overseas....to finding renters for the house and being able to sell lots of their things to both lighten their load and make a little money which will undoubtedly help with the move and settling in to their new environment!! I'm sure this is a crazy crazy time, but it's fortunate that things are really working out in great ways for Hadley's family!! Of course.....that's the way karma is supposed to work, right? Good things happening to good people!! :p :thumbsup2

OK....so I will throw out a question of the week for this week's amusement:

What is/are your favorite NON-BROADWAY Disney stage show(s)? So the Broadway versions of AIDA, Beauty & the Beast, Little Mermaid, Lion King, Tarzan and Mary Poppins don't count....but you can pick shows from any of the parks worldwide or the ships!!

Do you like how I worded the question with the door open for people to have multiple answers? I'd like to say that I did that for everyone's benefit....but it was mostly selfish because I know I can't name just one! :lmao:

My/our favorite CURRENT shows are:
"Festival of the Lion King" @ Animal Kingdom
"Finding Nemo: The Musical" @ Animal Kingdom
and "Twice Charmed" aboard the Magic

Other shows we love that are not in production anymore include:
"Tarzan Rocks!" @ Animal Kingdom
and on the TA in 2007 they did a show called "Art of the Story" on the ship. I know this was not a universally popular show and, actually, I think that a lot of people really hated it----but we LOVED it!! It had a bunch of my favorite songs/shows included so I thoroughly enjoyed it and I would not be one bit disappointed

Just as a note, our least favorite shows:
"Mickey Dreams" which they did as a special show on the TA, too. (And I heard a rumor they tried to do it on the most recent PC cruisings, too, but they only did it in one direction because it wasn't very popular)
"Hercules: the Muse-ical" which used to run on the Wonder. I never really got into that show and wasn't sorry to hear that it is gone now...but we are very much looking forward to seeing the new "Toy Story" show that's on the Wonder now when we sail in May!

Regarding my previous post.....I'd certainly love to hear anyone's answer....but I got my TransAtlantic threads confused and meant to post it on the other thread for the 2010 cruise where we're still all getting to know each other! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Erik you crack me up:lmao: Oh and :grouphug: for the karma coment

Sandi--I did pretty well. I did not break down except once. Our friends form the theatre group ahd a book made for us and came over with it during the sale. It is filled with photos of us and all our firends at the theatre during performances, poker nights, cast parties, etc and had the nicest inscription and i did loose it then:sad: THAT is going in my carry on as I do not even want to risk it getting lost somehow.

In my meager bit of things going across the Atlantic my TA "family" is well represented. Our two good photos of all of us with Erik and Jason and a gret photo of Rio and Erik after they won Mickey Mania on the TA, our photo of us as pirates with Chris and Rob and our TA album we made in "class" and the lovely double dip album Sandi made me are all finding space to go--TOP priorities. I am also squeezing in my fish extender. So many good memories of this group I cannot leave behind:goodvibes

Safe Journeys! To pack up your life and move overseas with 2 kids is a huge task!

I would have thought the Fish Extender would be the first thing packed! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

Good Morning Cruisers!

The parks were only crowded on the weekend - we did not go into parks during races, but the next weekend it was fairly crowded. We could have used the cooler weather on Marathon day, which was the warmest day while we were there, I think.

Hadley - we are looking forward to seeing you also on Friday. Did you need a bed, or are you staying in Denver?

After our last move, we have said if we move again, we are selling the house furnished!!!! Just packing up a few clothes and starting over!!! (Of course, we will not do that, we are too attached to our stuff!)

My favorite show is Festival of the Lion King at AK. But I really like all the shows on the cruises, and unlike Eric, I really did enjoy Hercules. Finding Nemo is a great show also.

Have a great day everyone!

Has anyone seen the Musical of 101 Dalmatians? I had not even heard of it, but it is coming to Broadway San Diego. Curt isn't big on Musicals so I don't want to press him to go to it unless it is good. Also Wicked and Lion King are coming back to San Diego. I wouldn't mind seeing both of those again.

As far as non-Broadway shows go, my favorite is Aladin at DCA. I haven't seen Nemo at AK yet.

All of those! I can't even sort them out - I like them all... love, love, love Art of the Story, Festival of Lion King,

Also, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin.

I've never heard of the dalmations... very interesting.

Hadley, Wow, you are really moving!!! Are you going to homeschool there?

Lynn, I forgot that you guys were going to the races? How did you do?

Well, we've been really busy here. I've been squeezing in the school spring benefit on top of my other work and school. I'm still trying to figure out how to donate DVC points for our school auction and how people can write off the donation on their taxes. It never occurred to me that there are so many people who don't use all their points and DVC has no connection for these people - it seems like all of us here use em up with no problem and never have enough. And we still don't know the new points for GC -anxiously awaiting that news.

It was a big Obama day around here this week. Every where I went yesterday it was on the radio and TV, nice to see so much national spirit regardless of who they voted for on election day. :cheer2:

Sandi, I think we sent that cold weather to you from ours last month.

Congrats to Curt and Marika, major accomplishments!!!! :thumbsup2

Good Morning Cruisers!

Hi Kelly - Scott did the Goofy, and did a great job on times, I did the marathon, and finished in 07:07:02 - so I was 7 min over the time limit, but there were lots of folks behind me. The marathon was really tough for me, so I am going back to 1/2's until I get into better shape! Scott has signed up for the Goofy again next year - actually the Dopey, and I understand that Shari has also signed up for the Goofy next year.

Beautiful sunrise here this morning - amazing colors!

Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning Cruisers!

We had a great visit with Hadley and Dave, they were in Denver area visiting relatives before their move and drove up to see us for a few hours - in terrible weather (for us). It will be fun visiting them in Germany!

Have a great day everyone!

Hi Guys. We had a great visit with Scott and Lynn:wave2: Their house is so nice nad I LOVE their basement. It was like being in the Adventurer's Club. WOW. I we were so impressed:thumbsup2 Our townhouse in Heidleberg will not be nearly as impressive--but we hope they'll come visit anyway:goodvibes

Kelly--yes we are moving on Firday:scared: Too much to do and too little time to do it in (add in that Rio broke his wrist while Dave and I were in Colorado and we are running around taking care of that too boot!) It is illeagal to homeschool in Germany, but we found a great international school for Rio and Marika.

Susie--the only 101 Dalmations stage show I have ever heard of is the boradway Junior version designed to be played by kids. It runs about 45 minutes and was cute.

I have to get back to work but I wanted to pop in and say hello to everyone.
