2007 Race for the Taste WISH Roster

Hey, I was thinking as I was walking today, who's walking, who's running? What do you estimate your finish time to be? Just wondering! :)

I'm a running, as luck would have it I am scheduled for a 6 mile run that day @ a 9:07 pace. I figure I will be at a faster pace because it being a race so I guess just under 50 minutes.

This brings up another question for me? If I am done at 8 I will need to wait for Epcot to open so I can walk back to the Boardwalk right?

I think it's because USATF has prohibited them in all of there races. Also is issue with insurance. They say no and you wear them and get hurt because you wore them, your up a creek without a paddle. I remember a story of a train running over a runner who had on hear headphones.

Yikes! I figured there must be a reason why :scared1:

Yes, that is true .

Wow, RFTT is sooo close!!! Anyone want to share a cab? I am staying at SSR.

About the headphones, I just did the disneyland half marathon and it too said no headphones. I brought mine anyway and I would say that 75% of people were wearing them. I don't know why they tell you not to....

Becky

I'm staying at SSR and will have a rental car....I wouldn't mind giving you a ride.

Im walking, and if I can I will attempt to run (I am a little pooh sized and this is my first race) I have no idea what my finish time will be, but I have been timing myself as I walk and I have made the time that it says, so I hope I make it! Just a question my friend has been to other marathons before (she is a runner) and she says the the runners hate walkers and are mean to them, is this true? Am I going to regret walking? Anyways cant wait to see you there! :cheer2:

Runners only hate walkers if they walk 4-5 wide like some charity teams or you start in the chute a faster than you can go pace line. This means you line up with 8:00 min/mile pace and then all the runners have to get around you. Line up at your pace and there won't be any problems. Have a fun race they are great. Have done Goofy twice and 2 races at Minnie and I walked them all.

Bottom line, be courteous to others around you.

That would be wonderful  Plus, I hate showing up alone to events. I still get really nervous on race day! I am requesting to be in the Grandstand area at SSR. I will PM you with my cell # closer to the race and we can pick a meeting time and place. Thanks!

Thanks for the quick response! I will make sure to stay out of their way. I am really getting excited for RFTT!!

I walked the Minnie 15K and didn't have any problems. I passed quite a few runners! It was funny, as my Walk! magazine shirt says on the back, Why run slow when you can walk really fast! I got alot of comments about that one.

The way I look at it is you have to be faster than a certain pace, whether you run it or walk it!

I'll look forward to your PM :thumbsup2

I don't really care where I stay at SSR I was happy to be able to get a room. I was on a wait list since July and finally got one last week.

Last week in our local newspaper, there was a really sad story about a cyclist wearing headphones while biking. We have a beautiful bikepath (Illinois Prairie Path) that wonders through most of the state. Unfortunately, this cyclist was hit and killed by a train at a crossing. It's so tragic. I fully understand why there regulations about wearing headphones. However, I would assume that on a mapped and monitored course there wouldn't be any reason to take such caution :confused3 I often walk with just one earbud in so I can hear both my music and the surrounding people.

Oh, by the way ... in less than 3 weeks, I'll be at Disney :dance3: and I'll be looking for fellow wishers.

I am so excited. We planned a last minute trip to WDW, and we will be there for RFTT. I am going to walk/run RFTT and then my DDs are going to participate in the kids' races at EPCOT. I will be wearing my WISH shirt and WISH hat. This will be my first RFTT and I can't wait to get the medal.

Only two weeks from tomorrow I will be running through epcot.:cool1: I can hardly wait. The kids still do not know they are going to disney in two weeks. Heck, I can't believe I will be at disney in two weeks. See you all at the starting line. :thumbsup2

Are we meeting before the race? I haven't gotten my WISH shirt yet, so I will have to keep an eye out for everyone.

Becky

I'm so excited! I'll be on the lookout for WISH anything. I don't have a shirt yet, but I have a WISH bracelet. It's lime green. What will you be wearing, Becky? Of course I would ask, as I haven't quite decided about what I'm wearing. But I thought if I knew what to look for, I'd keep an eye out! I do know that I'll be wearing a pink headsweats visor.

Stacey, all I know is I will be wearing a skirt. Probably my pink mickey tank, not sure though. Maybe I should wear my zebra stripe running skirt? That would probably make me easy to find ;)
