2007 Race for the Taste WISH Roster

I'm getting so excited :woohoo: to go to the RFTT. We arrive on Wednesday the 3rd and go home on the 8th. I'm bummed we'll be there only 5 nights, but I'll be back in January :thumbsup2

Good luck training!

In the final instructions it sats buses will run from Epcot in the am. I'm staying at the Boardwalk - is there any way I can get over to the buses in the am by foot? If so does anyone know how long it is?

Thanks

No, there won't be. I had to hitch a ride over to EPCOT for the Minnie. You can always take a cab or look for help from a fellow WISH'er like I did. Mel was nice enough to give DW & I a ride over to EPCOT for the Minnie:)

5 weeks from today (Sunday), we'll be doing the race! I was looking over my Minnie race pics, and can't wait! Is anybody else getting excited?

I am getting so excited about The Race For The Taste. . We only get to be at disney the Oct5th-8th. The kids don't know we are all going. (Surprise!) Oh well we will be back in January for marathon weekend for a lengthy stay. :) Cannot wait to see eveyone. I just had to post to to help with the wait. :)

Four weeks from today, we'll be race'n through Epcot :cutie: I can't wait to meet some fellow WISHER's.:dance3:

A course update from a friend who did the Race for the Cure at WWS this weekend and talked to a Disney Rep.

"They are going to start in the Television lot and end at the lot behind RnR. That was not a big surprise, but he did verify that they were trying to work out the 'off road' portion of the course. Once the details on the that section set they will be posting the route on the website."

I was hoping some of you who have run this race before could answer a few questions for me. This is my first time running in Disney and I'm excited because it has been a goal for me. I just lost 125 pounds and this is something I have been looking forward to doing.

First I have some friends who will be at the finish line cheering me on....Will they be able to experience the "taste table" with me. Also what is the finish line like.

I noticed they said no headphones.....Is it true....am I to run without my IPOD...how strict are they with that???

Thanks....And good luck to Everyone!!!

If I can do it .......Anyone Can!!!!

Congrats on the 125 lbs! Wow, what an accomplishment! I'm not sure about the "taste" as this is my first RFTT. I hear they aren't super strict about headphones, but most don't use them @ Disney as there is so much to see & hear & fun to be had! I didn't use them durning the Minnie 15K in May, and didn't need them. We'll look forward to meeting you, just look for green WISH shirts, or green WISH bracelets and introduce yourself.

  CONGRATULATIONS ON THE WEIGHT LOSS!!! THAT IS AMAZING. I HOPE YOU ARE SO PROUD OF YOURSELF!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

RFTT was our very first race last year and I had no idea what to expect. I HAVE to have my music when I run for lots of reasons, but I did not bring mine cause the "rules said so" I was so mad when I go to the starting line and A LOT of people had them. So it's up to you. There is a lot to see and hear but they are some boring stretches too.

As for the finish line, they give you a "bracelet" with your race package with four tear off portions and they tear them off when you get your "tastes" I don't know of anyway that your guests can sample also but that may be a question you want to email or ask at packet pick up.

Last year the finish line was in the Epcot parking lot, in fact all the races I have done at Disney the finish is in the Epcot parking lot, anyway, they have music and some bleachers set up. I really liked RFTT because the finish was not SOO packed that you could not find people, like the marathon was.

I hope this helps and everyone keep your fingers crossed that I will even be able to do it this year, I had to have MRI on my back yesterday and will get results next Thursday. If I can't then I will be there cheering on DH and a good friend of ours. --- And I still get to go the Food & Wine festival and pig out -- like I ran.;)

Thanks for your info on the race....I will definatly be bringin my IPOD...I need it to run.

Yes...I am proud of myself for losing all that weight....and I am trying to encourage others to do the same. It's sometimes hard to believe that I was able to do that ....but I did it.

I hope everything with your back is ok. I have 3 herniated discs in my lower back, a compression fracture and 2 herniated discs in my neck. The only thing that has saved my is chiropractic. So if you aren't seeing one now, you should look for one.

WOW THAT IS A LOT IN THE BACK!!

Actually I tried Chiropractic for a long time and I also have been working my core (doing the physical therapy but at home) -- FURIOUSLY. But the pain and numbness continues to get worse and the final straw was last week when I went to a neurologist and saw that I have lost all my reflexes in my right ankle. :scared1: That scared me. So we will see what the MRI says

I am just so frustrated because I accomplished so much last year (being that it was our first year running) and considering the fact that in high school I could not run a solid mile, now I have 2 - 1/2 marthons under my belt.

I just want to get better and get on with my life.

Wow, RFTT is sooo close!!! Anyone want to share a cab? I am staying at SSR.

About the headphones, I just did the disneyland half marathon and it too said no headphones. I brought mine anyway and I would say that 75% of people were wearing them. I don't know why they tell you not to....

I think it's because USATF has prohibited them in all of there races. Also is issue with insurance. They say no and you wear them and get hurt because you wore them, your up a creek without a paddle. I remember a story of a train running over a runner who had on hear headphones.

Hey, I was thinking as I was walking today, who's walking, who's running? What do you estimate your finish time to be? Just wondering! :)
