Ok, sent in my race application today! I am very excited about this race. I will be staying at SSR with my 1 year old DD (she'll be almost 2). I need to bring someone else with me to watch my DD while I run, so maybe my mom or my little sister. And hopefully my other sister will come down and run the race with me. (My DH told me I can go and leave my older DD home, but I have to take the baby LOL)

I'll be there (Ruth) with my DD15 and we're staying at POFQ. In addition to participating in the RFTT, we have ressies at Liberty Tree Tavern and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party on Thursday, October 4.

I have a dopey question ... where and how can I get the RFTT and 2008 Donald 1/2 marathon clippies on my signature? I apologize in advance for my ignorance.

Thanks Robert! We'll actually be there this year for both RFTT & TOT. Had already registered for RFTT & was planning on using it to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. Then they came out with the TOT race which is 3 days before our anniversary so really preferred that for our celebration. So, doing a quick weekend trip for RFTT and then will make a longer trip out of TOT. Look forward to seeing you at TOT.

I am planning on being ready for the Race for the Taste this year. I wanted to do it last year but I gave up on my training after my first race ever - a 5k that I didn't do too bad on (10.30 min per mile pace) I think my problem was I was trying to push myself to be better than that pace and it unmotivated me. I REALLY want to do this race so I have that as a goal and I am going to get serious about training since I am upset with myself for giving up training last year. So I haven't yet signed up for the race but I most likely will (depending on how training goes - I am starting training Sunday so we will see!!)

I just got a thing in the mail for the race and I had a concern about transportaion to the race. The pamphlet says.....

Race Day Transportation: Transportation will be provided for those athletes who stay at the host hotel, CBR and book thier travel through Anthony Travel. Travel packages for this resort and transportation service can be booked through Anthony Travel at 1-800-736-6377. This is the ONLY race day transportation that will be provided fro Disney's Race for the Taste 10k.

DH is running. We are already booked at POR and will be flying in from MKE to MCO. We will be using the Magical Express and are not renting a car. I was wondering how he will get to the race. Does anybody have an idea. Or are there really other busses from the other resorts that will take him to the start line? We've done the Marathon for the last 5 years and never ran into any problems like this.

We had the same issue at Minnie. We took a cab from BWV to DTD for the Go Red for Women 5K. It cost only $10 with tip and took just over 5 minutes. Great deal. You can rest and get more sleep. There is no transport for the smaller races unless you make a Anthony package deal.

Is anyone else going to the race from POR? Or POFQ? It will just be my husband going and he is not happy about the transportation. When he signed up for the race he had no idea that he would have to book through someone for transportation. He is thinking about not running the 10k. I would really like him to run. I was hoping to either have him carpool with someone or share a cab with someone. Please let me know! Thanks!!

Hi Princess Jackie,

I was just as surprised as you to discover that transportation is provided to the start line ONLY if you book through Anthony Travel. However, I've read that several people just take a cab to the start and that it isn't very expensive, approximately $10.00. Once he reaches the finish line, the buses should be running and he can return to the resort using Disney transportation.

I'm doing the RFTT with my DD15 and I haven't made our hotel ressies yet because I'm hoping that AP rates will be cheaper than Anthony Travel. Once the rates are released, I'll be making ressies at either POR or POFQ and we would be happy to share the expense of a cab with you.

I'm hoping to be able to get to Epcot for the finish to cheer the racers on But I'm wondering if DH might be done before I can get there. He's hoping to break 40min. but he hasn't been training as much as he would like either. Do you know what time the Disney buses start in the morning?

I just wanted to add that I used a cab for the minnie last month to get to the 15k. I was able to share one with a really nice lady who just happened to need a cab at the same time as me to get to the race. Our cab went from BWV to AK and cost $12 I think. I am thinking about taking a cab again for RFTT.
