2007 is here, whether I am ready or not?!? Comments and encouragement welcome!

Hi Lisa,

Happy Birthday to your DD! Hope she has a wonderful birthday!:goodvibes

That's great that you get to go to Palm Beach this weekend.... You should have lots and lots of :sunny: :sunny: for your vacation.:beach:

Keep up the good work with your training! You CAN do it!:cheer2:

Have a great week!:cool1:

HI Lisa,

I hope you had fun spending time with your daughter for her birthday!!

I hear you about working my workouts into my schedule. I have to do them right away afterwork or I don't get them in. So, I have been getting into a routine of bringing my running gear to work and changing before i leave and then heading right to the park near my house on the way home, that way I have no excuses when I get home to not go...lol!!

Have a great time in Palm Beach this weekend!! Enjoy the warm weather, and try to get a workout in even though it is your vacation!!

Laurie

DD had a great weekend we did a Circus theme ( JoJo from Playhouse Disney). It wiped me out... yesterday was my long run and it was not pretty... picture a sweating women crawling and panting... :rotfl: I am wondering if it was part the birthday party and that I ate crap this weekend too.

Today is a non running day so I am doing a Pilates DVD I have.

I am planning on getting some workouts in... I told DH to bring his running shoes and tennis racquet. We are going without the girls on a part work/ part run trip.

I am getting nervous as the miles increase that I can't do this... but I am just taking one day at a time.

Hey Lisa.

What training plan are you following? Are you training for the WDW marathon? (sorry, my memory skills are horrible) If you are...how much are you running now? Just don't overdo it too early, you know? Definitely follow a documented plan. (I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't know - I'm sorry)

Take care of yourself, ok?

Oh, and happy birthday to your DD!! (I have a 5 yr. old DS) :goodvibes

I am following Hal Higdon's 12 week training plan. I am (hoping) to do a 1/2 on April 15th... the St. Louis Marathon. I am doing a 5 mile St Patty's day first. I would love to do the Disney but right now we have a trip booked in May and I don't know if I can get there again... especially when my girls keep bugging me for a October trip there.

I put up the plan on the refrig... to motivate me but I think it is scaring me because on one piece of paper it goes from a 3 mile run to the half and I get to focused on that. I think I need to just put my plan for the week up and forget about the rest.

I talked to my brother, he is a runner, and he said don't think about April... it isn't this week, you know you can follow this week, next week and even February's plan... just focus on that not April... you can't run a 1/2 marahton today that is why you are in training so worry about this week this week and April in April... if you don't you will quit because the thought of 13 miles now IS scary. It was great advice now I just need to listen to it.

This week has not been the greatest for training... I did okay in the beginning part of the week but at the end I got a cold... I think I may overdose on Zinc... I really don't want to be sick for my trip. When it is hard to breathe it is hard to run.

But I have been doing great with the eating and drinking better fluids.:goodvibes

Hopefully this cold will be under control tomorrow, I really need to run tomorrow. I got Tennis in today so at least I did something.

Well I am off to get some packing done... I love traveling but HATE packing.

Hey Lisa--I am going to use the same Hal Higdon plan that you are using, my half marathon is April 29! I will start the plan a week from tomorrow. I have been working the last few weeks on building a base. I like the advice your brother gave you...I really need to take his advice. Like you, the thought of running 13 miles scares me sometimes. But he is right, April is so far away and that is why we are following a training program. We will get there, and we just have to take it week by week. I have started to do that a little bit, but I really need to just get it in my head that I will get there and in April, 13 miles won't be so bad!!

Have fun on your trip!!! Enjoy the warm weather while you are there!!

I'm back...

We had a great trip but it was a little colder than we thought, leave it to me to go to West Palm Beach and get records lows. But it was still wonderful I don't care what the temps are when I look out my window and see Palm Trees and the ocean.

The bad news is I still have my cold, it has gotten worse... I need to get better.

Hi Lisa! Welcome back! I'm sorry you still have your cold. I've been fighting a cold/bronchitis since Christmas. Maybe it's time to get checked out at the doctor?

I love your brother's advice!! When I tell people I'm planning on running a 1/2 marathon in January, their first response is always - how far do you run now? Then my response is - well, my longest run was 6 miles - but that's why there's TRAINING!

You're doing great, and like you said - April IS far away...plenty of time. And you'll be amazed when you look back at how far you can run with ease! :thumbsup2
