2007 Hilton Head Internet Access Status

I've searched the forum, but not found any recent information.

Does DVC Hilton Head now have some form of Internet access in the rooms, other than dial up? If yes, is it wi-fi or by Ethernet cable? What is the cost?

In june they just had 3 or 4 wireless sites, one at the pool, one at big Murgy'sandone at the beach house. There is also a telephone where youcan check your email.

No - there is no broadband available in the villas themselves. A few may be able to find a signal (weak) from the balcony. Otherwise, you can find free wireless hot spots at Big Murgies Den, near the pool and at the Beach House. The only option in the villas themselves is still dialup - but make sure you have a local access number. Any call off the island is long distance and subject to surcharges.

Our room was located near Big Murgie's so we were able to pick up a signal on our balcony. Lots of people in Big Murgie's using their laptops.

I always thought it was strange that HHI offers free wi-fi in the lobby, but none of the DVC resorts at WDW do. That kind of bothers me. Anyone know a good reason why that is?

We were able to get it on the deck when we faced the pool (a couple of buildings over) around the pool and in Big Murgies. Vero Beach does have free Wi-Fi in the lobby.

You might want to call the resort to find out but we were there in June and I was able to get a very fast connection in the room through my AT&T wireless card.

We just got back this evening. We stayed in building 31 all the way on the point of the resort near the mouth of the Marina and my son "accidentally" found a connection from the marina. It was very weak and not a Disney one. They have not upgraded connections to the rooms yet.

Our room is right above Big Murggies Den and occasionally I can get a very weak signal. Down in the den itself, the connection is fine though. The main way I'm connecting in though is tethering through my cell phone. It's not the greatest signal either (Sprint) but more reliable than the Disney WiFi connection.

Nice strong signal outside big murgie's den... I didn't know about the pool access area but I needed a comfy place to sit plus power since my batery doesnt hold a charge anymore...

Hmmm I should actually start a thread and post some information since Hilton Head info is hard to come by.
