2007 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC07 - October 21, 2007

Went to DL on Monday, and was surprised to see that the park was empty. We were told the heat probably kept everyone away.
Finally got to ride Nemo, only waited 50 minutes. They really need to get misters for that line. Anyway I'm glad I was wrong about thinking the park was going to be full.

Next month.......

What was the Nemo ride like? We were there in May and it wasn't open yet.

How was DL and the half marathon? We've been waiting for news? Or did I miss it?

Hi everyone:

Linda and I left DL today for each of our homes. I am in SLC now waiting on my next flight. Linda is already home.

She ran the 1/2 Marathon and slowly getting back to normal.

When she posts later on today she will tell everyone about it. Of course, I didn't run it. I had a hard time meeting her at the finish line. LOL - not really.

The 5K would have been a much better race to run.

She did FABULOUS. I was so happy to see her when she came past the finish line. Wish my pixie dust could have returned her to a normal state.

Talk about HOT HOT HOT. It sure was. Got up to 106. Didn't bother me that much but to the others it was horrid. Guess I am just used to the heat in FL. But then again, I don't go out that much except to the hospital and to PO and home again.

Linda will tell everyone her version, which is much better than mine, since she experienced the "wonderful" event.

I'll have to read everyone when I get home later, which will be in the a.m. early but will catch up by tomorrow.

What was the Nemo ride like? We were there in May and it wasn't open yet.

we rode Nemo on Monday also. It was almost like the sub ride but they just incorporated Nemo into it. We were pretty much behind the Dreams family for the day - they got to ride a sub by themselves. The ride didn't start until 9:15 on Monday. We got on the 2nd sub going out for the day.

But the wait was 1-1/2 hours to 2 hours.

I'm at work now. Been here for about 45 minutes and figured I better check in! HA! Got to get the important stuff out of the way.

My daughter Jamie (15) and I both did the 1/2. The whole weekend was HOT. I felt like I was back in Rome doing the Med and the temperature and humidity was following us around.

Went through both parks and then hit Ball Rd. on our way out to Anaheim Stadium. Used to go there with our whole family when I was a little girl. All our aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents used to go there every 4th of July and watch the Angels play and stay for the fireworks afterwards.

By the time we got to the ball park, it must have been 150 degrees. But rumor has it, it was about 106. We came in through the underground tunnel and then headed our way from the outfield down the 1st base line. As you got to the first base line, the mats on the ground read your "micro chip" on your shoe, and then the annoucer for the stadium said your city and name. then as you rounded home plate down the 3rd base line, your live picture was on the jumbotron and the Disney photographers took your picture. It was pretty cool.

Did I mention how hot it was?

Paradise Pier was great, the parks were basically empty except for the line for Finding Nemo. On Monday afternoon, a CM at Splash Mountain was talking to us and we told him that my daughter and I did the marathon, and he said that "you look hot, come here I have to show you something", and he gave us 4 fast passes to immediately get on. That was nice, cuz I was in the heat stroke mode by then. Of course, 15 minutes later we were cooled down cuz my husband, Robert, me, Jamie and Kay were soaking wet! :yay:

Cooled us down though. Saw fireworks all three nights. They were great.

Now I've got 2 hours of work before I go home. Can't wait to get my feet up, and have a nice cold drink. Got a big blister on my foot. Guess I am out of commission for a day or two, at least, when it comes to walking again.
Jamie has to go to dance for 4 hours tonight and she was sore. I have no sympathy, told her to take some Ibuprofin and she would feel better by 5 p.m.! I told her she could complain when she is my age!

Anyway, Kay is at the Salt Lake Airport, left her sitting at a computer in the Crown Room. She should be boarding in about an hour.

Okay, can't wait for my next vacation, it's the DVC Member Cruise!

Kay and Linda,

Sounds like you had a great time a DL. Linda congratulations on finishing the 1/2,what an accomplishment:cheer2: Hope your foot and your DD feel better quickly.

Hi All -

Another awesome day out here on the Wonder! Today we were at Castaway Cay - it was beautiful and we got some showers mid-afternoon. Tonight is the Pirates IN the Caribbean Party and we are all looking forward to it. I have also been doing my sworn duty to make sure all thr drinks are up to par and can assure you the Pina Coladas on Castaway Cay are a force to be reckoned with :thumbsup2

Oh, I went to the DVC Member party yesterday and found out the DVC Captains Log Books we got are a new thing, the guide Joan mentioned these were the first time they had them to hand out.

The books are very cute - they look like a "leather" (read: paper made to look like leather) book that is like a journal. You can put in your cruise notes, list your favorite things, it has pockets for keeping momentos, and (of course!) contains member referral cards LOL! The book came with a really nice pen (not a cheapy Bic pen) and two DVC lanyards for holding your Key to the World.

My husband took only one picture of the DVC Captains Log Book and is going to try and get it up on his Flickr account later tonight if anyone wants to see it - Clickity-Click-Here

Welcome home Kay & Linda. Sounds like you had a great time.

We are in planning mode here so I've just gone through the roster to make sure I have everyone correct. I've sent out a few e-mails and pm's to those we haven't seen in a while to make sure everyone is still sailing with us.

Can't believe how close the cruise is getting!

I am still here. Been very busy with school, work, and moving. I am very excited for the cruise and we are counting down the days. Very excited for the break!!

Hi folks..... Just dropping in to let you know we are still looking forward to the cruise. My friend retired last week and next week we all go to HHI for a week. After that, I come back a week and work one more week then retire after nearly 30 years in my job.

We go to Vero Beach the 19th and 20th before we drive down to the port and then, following the cruise, it's off to the BWV for 9 days. Great way to end a career.

Looking forward to meeting everyone. Let us know what you need for pins, etc.

I had a great time looking at all your pictures yesterday. But I have to ask - what do you do for a living? It seems you are always traveling. I would guess besides the pod cast biz, you work for a computer company?

Have a great trip and we look forward to meeting you and your family on the cruise.

Well my husband speaks at a lot of conferences - so that of course includes a lot of travel. Sometimes the kids and I go with him , sometimes we do not.

I own my own company and have a distributed workforce (meaning, we all telecommute) My theory is I hate being in a cubical and figure most other people do too. :) So, I do some of my travelling to visit my employees (sometimes my husband and kids come along).

Since both my husband and I can work from anywhere we can connect to the internet we do a lot of recreational travel as well. LOL, my employees told me I was NOT allowed to work during the cruise and I have been trying to be good. Shhhh, I have been checking email though. I just can't help it!

I am so jealous. I would love to be able to travel more, but Best Buy is not a company that would travel well as brick and mortar stores are heavy. HAHA I hope you didn't think I was being too noisy. But I really did enjoy the pictures. Tom Green and John Edwards!!! That is quite the combo.

Now stop checking your email and enjoy your vacation. :goodvibes

Oh no, not being nosey at all. No worries!! Well I got you beat on being jealous, I am jealous of you - you have the two sizes down graphic! I so need to get down at least two sizes!!!

It is our last night on board :sad1: The seas are a bit choppy this evening and you can feel the boat a-rockin'. Even with my veranda door shut I could swear I heard some waves hitting the baot a few minutes ago.

Sunset is turning out to be gorgeous just like Captain John said it would be. Going to make my husband take some photos and post them tonight.

Today was a beautiful day at sea. We pretty much soaked up the sun and relaxed. The boys wanted to do the kids club all day. The graduation they do for the kids in the Walt Disney Theater was the best and I am SO tempted to steal one of the boys graduation caps with the Mickey ears!

Ok, off the computer and time to get ready for dinner. Tomorrow morning will come too soon!! I am so glad we have one night at OKW before we fly home on Friday. It would be so sad to get off the boat a immediately fly home.

Eric tooks some really neat pictures today - total geek stuff like hallways with strange boat gear, hooks, things like that LOL!

Yay for the Vaios - such nice little computers. I still prefer my MacBook though. I am a major Apple geek!
