2007 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC07 - October 21, 2007

Chat - since we were talking about chat last week I thought I would let everyone know that the chat room has been down for the last week. So I don't think we'll be having cruise chat tonight. If it gets fixed today I'll post here and let you know.

PDFG and all who need it.

Good friday morning all, I wish us all the best Monday morning. I hope I can get back to sleep or I will not me a nice person Monday morning.

Kay, congrats on the new job. I understand about staying home driving you crazy. Just in case annette hasn't told all of you I lost my job on Wednesday, I worked for Aflac as an admin in a regional office and a licensed agent. I've been home 2 days thinking about what i wanted to do and found i don't want to stay home thats for sure. I realized over the last couple of days i love the company i work for and how it helps people. A couple of people have approached me about work for them on an independent basis and i'm mulling that over.

On to good news we booked our vacation airfare for the cruise. Spirit 37 each way.

Have a great day.

Amanda, I am sorry to hear about your job. It has to be very difficult, but think on the bright side you've got a great bunch of people to talk to and vent if you need. Kudos on the 37 Spirit Fares and on a bright note you get to cruise with all of us and the mouse in October.

We made it to Ocean City, MD for our mini summer vacation. The hotel is great just as we remembered it last year but better. We landed a bigger suite which is really nice since as you know there are six of us when we travel. We've got a jacuzzi tub in our room with a wet bar and a shower with three shower heads. Well I hope everybody has a good weekend, I know we will!!!

I'm sorry i was such a downer earlier. I realized when i went to lunch with annette that i have a great opportunity going independent and i think thats what i'm going to do. The best part of working for yourself is you dont have to ask if you can take time off. We're spending 2 weeks in October instead of rushing back on Monday after the cruise. I will be one of the early birds on Monday. I want to go fishing and it fills up quickly.

Have a great night if i dont long back in.

Board is acting crazy - tried to post this once and it got lost.

Amanda - sorry to hear about the job loss. Been there, done that! It does sound like you have a great opportunity and I wish you all the best in following that path.

No need to apologize for venting. That's part of getting to know each other. Having a place to share are ups and downs. :grouphug:

Has anyone seen an update from DCL on the cruise? Since we are less than 90 days out, it seems that we would have one :confused3

Good morning everyone!

I haven't seen any updates from DVC. I've been checking the new website but nothing looks new. Come on DVC - give us some news! I was hoping they would have gotten better at communication from last year but so far I haven't seen it. I hope I'm wrong.

BTW - anyone else a Harry Potter fan? UPS should be delivering my book from Amazon sometime today. Can't wait to get it, but also sad as it is the last book.

Have a great day everyone!

good morning all

just checking in - I'm not lost yet. ha ha

getting ready to leave for WDW on Monday morning. First I have my g/baby today and can't do much with her here.

My youngest DD's puppy, a little dashund (her name is Maddie) - has a ruptured disc and we had to take her to West Palm Beach last night for emergency surgery. The initial cost last night was $3,600 and more to come. YIKES !!!!

Maddie will be there for about 5 days and we won't know for about 3 weeks if she will be paralyzed or not. We sort of think not, but it is one of those wait and see things.

She is an avid swimmer (yes, the doggie is an avid swimmer and loves the pool) and the Vet said that was the best thing for her. When the pool was built we even had a large space built for her (and the other doggies) so that they could sit in the water if they got tired. It is really something to see.

We need a few prayers for Maddie. She is the sweetest thing, but aren't they all.............

It is an hour up and an hour back.

The weather here is wonderful. Actually too very hot outside but I am sure the g/baby will be in the pool almost the whole time she is here today.

Have a great day everyone

My dogs will be keeping Maddie in their thoughts.

Hi everyone. Back from Magicmeets and NYC. Magicmeets was great, it was fun to meet other dsney fans. NYC, I was at a great convention and learned a lot.

Hello all, just a quick question...I see the 90 day mark is tommorow:cool1: ...what time can we start booking excursions etc online? Looks like time is running out

My dogs will be keeping Maddie in their thoughts.

thank you - thank you - thank you

We checked on Maddie today. She is doing really good. No movement yet but the points the Vet is checking out for motor function seem to be responding a good bit.

That is such great news. This surgical care hospital is so used to seeing the little pets come in and they pass away, they are just estatic when a pet responds well and gets to go home at the end.

Prayers still needed for this little guy.

Oh Kay! We will keep Maddie in our prayers. We have 3 mini daushaunds, long haired red, black & tan silver dapple, and black & tan chocolate dapple. One we rescued from someone that was just going to shot it because they didn't want him anymore!! :headache: It was horrible! He is the best little guy. The other 2 are sisters that we adopted (twins for the twins:lmao: ) We got all of them 2 years after someone killed my little Dolly. I had her for about 5 years. She was truely amazing little girl. She could out run, out jump, out do any other dog big or small. :goodvibes Sounds like the vet you took her to is dong a great job. keep us updated.

So I am watching the Princess Diaries for about the 40th time and thought how cool it would be if Julie Andrews was one of the Legends on the cruise? Any thoughts?:3dglasses

That would be amazing!

Okay, I know all of you veterans have special consideration for booking reservations and events for the upcoming cruise. When the time comes, I am hoping there will be some slots left for us to take advantage of our first DVC Cruise.

BUT, the brochure we got from DVC is nice, but doesn't tell us what we really WANT to know for this cruise.

What really do we need to do in terms of getting a good experience from the event? I know we won't be dressing up in any costumes, etc. as we don't know what to expect for these types of events. As first timers, we will sit back, watch and learn.

I also know my wife and I will want to just lounge on Castaway Cay beach on one of the days we are there.

If this is the case, what should we definitely do? We hear a lot about Palo's so should we reserve a lunch or dinner there? We have a late seating for our dinners if that helps. We are NOT intersted in swimming with the rays, but probably would enjoy snorkling and maybe biking on the island one day.

This trip is in celebration of my retirement and our 25th wedding anniversary so we want to be able to just relax and take it all in.

Do they have good Pina Coladas on the beach?

You guys have all been great and we look forward to this trip. We want to be able to relax and yet enjoy what the island experience will have to offer.

Finally, it seems like there are only about 40-45 people who write on this board. Is this indicative of what the turnout will be for the cruise Will it be full? What is approximate capacity for boat?

Thanks again all..... ?:beach: :beach: :beach:
