2007 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC07 - October 21, 2007

We are only one night at SSR the 20th.

Their computers were awfully slow last night. I had to refresh and start over a couple of times.

Welcome to the DIS and the DCL forums. Most of all welcome to the cruise meets thread. Looking forward to getting your info and adding you to the web page.

I think you'll find a lot less drama here than on the repo cruise thread. Always nice to meet new cruisers!

Thanks to all for the welcome. We are new to the Member Cruise, but not to Disney Cruising or Cruising in general. We have done 3 cruises on the Magic and 12 overall. As a matter of fact, our last one was only 3 weeks ago (not normally this close together). We are also booked on repo cruise. It is very "busy" over there.

BTW, what is link dining? I thought I had heard most terms with cruising, but this one is throwing me.

Thanks,
Alan

Does anyone know what time you can get into the port? I am trying to get some info for Stacey as she is trying to coordinate the "party van" from WDW to the port. We're are thinking about leaving WDW around 830 am ( I think) but we don't want to get there too early and just either have to pay more for the van to wait for the gates to open or get out of the van and spend too much time in the terminal just being ansy. Any info would help. I can't find anything with this info.

I believe this was answered several times a few pages back by several cruisers. I will be happy to try and remember what was said.

You shouldn't get to the Port too much before 10 am. The gates are closed and you have to park across the street and wait. The prior cruisers are getting off and getting their luggage and leaving at the same time that we arrive.

Then they check you in and you can drop your luggage off at the luggage doors and go upstairs and check in. It is very nice and orderly.

We can board the ship around 11:45 am or so. They board by groups that are called.

The conceire and hdcp people board first and then the groups board.

EDITED TO ADD: If you do get there early, the van can drop you off just outside the gates and leave your luggage on the curb for the porters to take and you can wait by the gate. There will probably be others waiting there also.

For those worrying about booking floats, tire tubs, snorkle equiptment and bikes you can do all that when you get to castaway cay. They have plenty of everything so don't sweat it and relax. My last trip I got a massage also by just walking up.I quess i will not do palo again but then I will be tasting the food outside the clubs after 10pm.

I will be buying my refill beer mug again this trip so look for me walking around with it.

Sorry that some had problems making excursions last night.

From time to time you should sign on and try and make them again.

Sometimes they sneak open spots in when we don't expect it. We have to stay as smart as them. :rotfl2:

10:00 is good then.

There were some earlier posts that said people were there at 9:30...so when the Van transportation said they couldn't drop us off before 10:00 (they actually even said before 10:45) that didn't make sense.:confused3

Thanks.

accourtwdw - thanks for looking.....

Hi everyone! The poll for the Saturday DIS meet is now closed and the winner with 46% of the total vote is Beach Club at 3 pm! I'll try and get the info up on the website this coming week. We'll meet in the Solarium which is right down the hall from the marketplace and right before you get to the DVC villas. Plenty of comfy chairs and the weather shouldn't bother us.

As for a few other questions.

Linked dining is when a number of people send in all there info together (usually through one person which in our case is Joanne). That way everyone on a seating can sit with/near each other. There are tables of 8, 6, and 4 so you could have a table of 4 already but want to sit near the group you can still link. Or maybe a number of people want to group together at a bigger table for 6 or 8. Just a nice way to be able to sit with people you have already gotten to know through the thread. Hope that helps.

What are the mini-navigators that I have read about??

Back for our December 2004 cruise I made up a mini-navigator for the DIS group. It was just a single 8 1/2 x 11 page folded in half on lime green paper that have peoples names and cabin numbers in it. I've since done slightly different versions for the other cruises I've been on. Linda (seaulater) did a more detailed version starting with the 2005 Panama Canal cruise and has done them for her past cruisers as well. Linda has volunteered to do the ones for this cruise. Makes a nice little momento of the cruise and is great for those of you who scrapbook like I do. It is also great if you want to try and get hold of another member of the group during the cruise or if you just want to walk the halls and check out your fellow DISers door signs.

Kay,
Thanks for the info. I forgot that we had already covered this. I have looked at some many posts lately, I can't keep them straight

ha ha - no one gets more confused than me. I keep thinking I posted this or that on a thread and it ends up, I posted it on another one.

I don't mind being confused. Keeps people thinking. :lmao:

YEP, the mini little Navigators are nice. I made one for one of my cruises and it turned out beautiful. Sort of tricky trying to put it in a boooklet form, but keeps us on our toes trying to do something new.

OK - Beach Club at 3 pm. We'll try and make it - still have to get in touch with Linda. I don't want to slow down, I might stop all together.

We should have a real fun cruise this year.

Tiggerguy and family will be attending the first Disney meet.It will be a good way to see some of you before the cruise so we are famliar with each other. It's a good ice breaker so when we are on the boat it will be easier to interact with each other.
