2007 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC07 - October 21, 2007

Mary is correct about the Radisson. Linda and I will be staying there the night before and we will be leaving the car in their parking lot. The shuttle takes us to the port starting at 10 am and then they will pick us up at the same spot they dropped us off at to take us back to the Radisson.

They don't charge for keeping the car there either. Where as at the Port we have to pay per day.

Mary - never thought about b/fast as Grills. That sounds nice and different. We did have supper there the night before tho and we saw the Magic leave.

All of the car rentals are w/in a couple of miles from the Port and they will take you to the Port when turning in your car. All of them are within a radius of each other.

I have some catching up to do so I have to get myself in gear for this cruise.

Are we ready to cruise yet??????????????????? :cool1: :cool1:

Grills has a yummy breakfast and we met up with 2 other families before our May '06 cruise for it. It is quieter there in the morning and you can see the Wonder docked and waiting for you.

Of course as Kay mentioned it is fun to go there on Saturday night and watch the Magic sail by.

Here is a link to their website for any of you staying in the port area before the cruise. You can check out their menus and there is usually a 10% coupon which is always a sweet deal. www.visitgrills.com

BTW I found this site while surfing last night DISNEY LEGENDS

Wonder which one's we'll get on our cruise????

Personally I would love to see Julie Andrews, Fess Parker, Tommy Kirk, or Dick Van **** (which I know the word filter is going to * :rotfl: )

Quite a few interesting names on there.

It will be quite exciting to see ends up on the ship. Do they tell us closer to departure time or is it kept a surprise until we are on board.

OMG - I would love to see Dick Van ***.

That man is great. I watch Diagnosis Murder each and every day, as I TIVO all of his shows.

They usually do annouce as we get closer to the cruise. Of course there can always be last minute cancellations. Last year we were supposed to have Don "Ducky" Williams on the cruise but he had to cancel due to a family emergency. BTW if you ever get a chance to see him do it - he's amazing!

Mary is so right. Don Ducky Williams is great. We were lucky to win one his door prizes two years ago. We were even more lucky to have great friends named Mark and Mary who procured us a mailing tube to keep it safe.

Just wanted to stop by and say we wish we were joining you guys this year, but Matt's school got thier break wrong by one week. We will be disembarking the Magic on Sat morning before you leave. (yes Mary, we changed from a 4 day to 7 day - can't help it I am spoiled)

Oh Robin - you are being a tease! When I saw you had posted I was hoping you were joining us! Have a great cruise. I'll drop you a pm and maybe we can get together for a quick visit at WDW that Saturday.

I also heard on a podcast that Steve Martin used to be a cast member or something, or did some entertaining for Disneyland.

Do they let you have pics and some meet and greet type things with the "celebs" or is it formatted differently?

Just curious.

I hope the shuttle bus from the resorts isn't that bad that everyone rents a car?

You're right Cobbler. Steve Martin used to be a Disneyland Cast Member. When we were out there for the 50th anniversary he did a video bit in the place where the Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln used to be talking about the experience.

Dopey - we've done the DCL busses before and they are fine. The big negatives to them for most people are a) cost and if you have a family of 4 you are better off with a rental car and b) they get you to the port a bit later than if you drove yourself. The plus is that you are in a nice bus with a video running of what to expect on the ship and they drop you off right where the porters will take your bags. They will also remind you on the trip over what paperwork to have ready so check in is a breeze.

Good Morning All

Another Hot and humid day here in the State of Maine. Counting days until OCT. Can't wait to see the new changes on the Wonder. Noticed the discussion about shuttle to the Port. Nac and I used in 2005 and was pleased. They stopped at OKW picked up all of us for the cruise and in one hour we were there.
Everybody have a great day

OK cruisers: We have 113 days until cruise time. Still in triple digits but soon in the double digits.

Still rainy here in Ft. Lauderdale, but we desperately need it. I don't mind. If I have somewhere to go, I just walk out to the car. I might be wet when I get to my destination, but it eventually dries out. :lmao:

Hope everyone has a great day

Good morning everyone - happy Friday!

Wow - 113 days! That is going to go fast!

Cobbler - about you question about meeting and greeting. It really is different with each person they bring on. When they had Jodi Benson on they scheduled an autograph session with her so you could get things autographed and a picture taken. With Art Linkletter and Roy Disney their talks were on the stage in the Walt Disney Theatre. Some were lucky to meet them one on one up in the suite parties and if you saw them around the ship they would say hello. Most people left them alone when they were out and about and just say hello or maybe ask for a quick picture.

DIS Meets - with 113 days to go should we start talking about meeting up before and on the cruise? We usually have one at 3pm on the first day of the cruise. Would everyone be up for that? We've traditionally had them up on deck 10 out in the sunshine (with deck 9 undercover in case it rains). What do you think about that or would deck 3 in the Promonade lounge be more preferred?

What about the day before. I know we have some people staying at WDW as our Mark and I. Do you guys want to get together someplace on Saturday for say an hour or so? We did it last year at the Solarium at the Beach Club and that seemed to work out well. Thoughts?

Last, but not least, I think a number of people are staying near the port the night before. Do you guys want to get together? Before the first Member Cruise back in 2003 a group of us met up at the Radisson pool the night before the cruise.

All these meets are just a way for everyone to put names and faces with their fellow DISers. Then during the cruise some will met up on CC, or around the ship. Some will stop and chat, some will just smile and keep on walking. There is no right or wrong. I know that we've always enjoyed cruising with our fellow DISers and it is fun to know people all around the ship.

Sorry for the long post - thoughts just kept flowing this morning. I hope we hear from a majority on the meets. It will be great to get everyone's input. So all those who are mostly lurking please come and tell us what you think! :)

The beach club works for me. Definitely the deck 10 party is the way to go I think. Maybe we have a midcruise meet in the promenade lounge one night.

Linda and I will be staying at the Radisson the night before. That way we'll park our car there and the shuttle will take us to the ship.

Last year in June from another cruise group, a bunch of us stayed at the Radisson and we had a nice pool party the afternoon before and then we went to Grills for supper. It turned to be very, very nice.

If by any chance we had a greet and meet at Disney somewhere, it is possible that Linda and I could drive over and get back to the Radisson for supper at Grills later. I'll have to see what Linda wants to do. That is a lot of driving, so I'm not sure it could work out. As we get closer we can see who is staying where and how many would be at the Radisson.

I know there are a lot of new cruisers and we want to make them feel very comfortable and easy with all that might be planned.

Like Mary said, it is just a way to put names with faces together and to say "HI" when we see each other around the ship and on the Island.

Planning is part of the fun and makes the days go by and before we know it, we are ready to cruise.

I am up for an on ship meet. We won't be at Disney beforehand, just after. We will be staying near the port - Days Inn Cocoa Beach - the night before, but not sure exactly what time we will arrive, so I don't want to say I will be there and have a chance that I won't.

But definatly up for an on ship meet.

Hey Kay, we're going down to Weston this weekend until July 5th. Staying at a place called Mizner Place. Ever heard of it? We want to drive over to the beach one day. Any certain part of it that is calmer or not as rowdy as another? Any good local restaurants to eat at?

Mizner Park is in Boca Raton. Beautiful place. It is about 20 minutes North of where I live. I used to work in Boca, so not too far. Can't recommend any restaurants, can't remember where I ate there, but any of them are awesome. You'll have a great time.

How long will you be here??

Cobbler: Do you love seafood? I recently went to Legal seafood in Boca Raton, it was excellent. If you are in the mood to splurge Check out Abe and Louie's steakhouse in Boca.
