2007 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC07 - October 21, 2007

I can't believe we are less than 4 months away. I am very excited to meet everyone on the ship. I am not sure if we will be at Disney or down by the port before the cruise. Still working out the details. I think I am in trouble....my first cruise not only the disney cruise, but the member cruise.

Thank you to everyone for the information on the car rentals and shuttles.

here is what is crazy: Amanda & I are "seasoned" cruisers and we don't have a clue what we are doing before the cruise yet.

I missed the meet last year @wdw (amanda went to represent us), but the get together on the ship was fun but a little overwhelming. Last year amanda was on the disboards so she had a better feeling for all you and this year it is me. crazy how that works

will there be a pirates night on board?

Good morning Member Cruisers!
36347SS2007.gif
We sail in 16 weeks!

Kelly - I know many people who had a Member Cruise as their very first cruise and they all really enjoyed the experience. After all what better way to start a new adventure than with a "Welcome Home" and you'll hear many of them on the ship.

Annette - We had almost twice as many DISers on last years cruise. Last year we made 153 buttons and this year we have a total of 86 so far. Plus many of the 2006 DISers were repeats of 2005 and already knew each other. So I can see where the DIS meet was a little overwhelming. That's why we are looking for input from everyone so it can be a great experience for everyone. As for your question about Pirate night - yes I think we will have it again. Hopefully not conflicting with the Golden Mickeys so that Mickey is in formal wear. :lmao:

I think it was JayPD who early one commented that even though we have many new cruiers we also have some with years of experience. I've been keeping track on my spreadsheet and Kay recently updated me with her new numbers and Linda's as well. Kay will now have 17 cruises done when we sail and Linda will have 12. As a group we now have 121 cruises under our belts. So for all you brand new cruisers - don't be shy about asking questions. :)

Cobbler: Do you love seafood? I recently went to Legal seafood in Boca Raton, it was excellent. If you are in the mood to splurge Check out Abe and Louie's steakhouse in Boca.

Unfortunately not, and it doesn't like me either. I have seafood allergies.

This is our family as well. I think I may be spoiled.

Member Gallery Update!

I've updated the web page with the following:

skelly_wi (aka Trusha) and her family Joel, Vijay, and Justin!

Updating Kay (krdisneybound) and Linda (seaulater)'s cruises. Linda will have 12 by the time we sail and Kay will be up to 17!

Does anyone know the rotation for the restaurants? This is our first cruise. We are doing early seating. It is our anniversary while we are on the cruise so my wife and I want to do a Palo's evening (my parents are also going on the cruise so they can keep the kids). It'd be nice to do the Palo's on our actual anniversary, but we also would hate to miss one of the restaurants, so we'll probably do it on the night that repeats a restaurant. How do the rotations work?

4 day cruise
TAAP 5:30 and 8:00
APPT 5:45 and 8:15
PTTA 6:00 and 8:30

That is the usual rotation and the 3rd night out (the second night in the resturant is usually Pirate night). However last year on the Member Cruise which had the same itinerary (CC, sea, CC) they did pirate night on our second night (which would be the first night of the resturant). Hope I didn't make that too confusing. I would think they might do the same thing this year as I heard they don't do the fireworks at the end of a sea day but on a day after leaving port.

So you'll have to decide if you want to give up pirate night for Palo of if you want to give up the regular rotation in one of the resturants (with Animator's being the only one that does the show).

If you plan on getting to the ship early you might want to try Palo brunch instead. It will be hard for you to get online as you are booking at 75 days out but they do keep some reservations for on board booking. Just a thought.

We'll be here at Mizner until Thursday morning. Yesterday we went to Fort Lauderdale beach and stayed until about lunch. Then we went to Sawgrass mills. Saw a Legal Seafood there. shopped while there was a hideous storm outside. Then came back to the unit and cooked dinner. I think we may go down to Miami Beach today. Maybe the Keys tomorrow.

Mary -
I understand the restaurants on your list, but how will we know which one of the 3 listed we will be on?

I have chosen late seating, it says somewhere between 8-830 on my notes I jotted down. But I don't know which rotation I will be on? And are we in a restaurant the very first day we are on the ship?

I am probably making this way more complicated than it is.

Unless you request a rotation (and even then it isn't guartanteed) you won't know your rotation until you get your KTTW (key to the world) card.

Whatever rotation you get you keep the same dining time each night. So if you get TAAP 5:30 and 8:00 you spend your first night in Triton's and you dine each night at 8 pm (since you have late seating.

If you have APPT 5:45 and 8:15 then you start in Animator's and you dine each night at 8:15.

If you have PTTA 6:00 and 8:30 then you start in Parrot Cay and dine each night at 8:30.

Last year we had someone link all the DISers together and the early seating people asked for (and received) the PTTA seating so we at dinner at 6 pm each night.

Hope that explains it a little clearer. Yes you start the very first night. So if you have TAAP you would be in Triton's on Sunday night (the day we get on the ship). Animator's on Monday, Animator's again on Tuesday (one of them most likely the Monday night being the pirate's night menu) and Parrot Cay on Wednesday night. You would also then be in Parrot Cay for disembarkation breakfast on Thursday morning (the only morning you are assigned a time and place for breakfast) or you can go up to the buffet which many of us did last year.

PDFG and all who need it.

So, you were in that storm too?? It was horrible. Thunder was all around us.

My DD and I went to Sawgrasss around Noon. We went to the Disney Store.

Don't know which part of Lauderdale Beach you went to, but if you remember the roads, and remember Commercial Blvd. and US 1, you were about 5 minutes from me.

Hope you are having a great time.

It will be a long trip to The Keys. If going all the way down, it will be at least a five hour drive.

Thanks for info on the rotations. A few more questions...

What is pirate night? what makes it special at dinner?

Also, what is the Animator's "show"? Is that where the meal goes from black and white to color?

We have young kids (5 and 7) so from other threads it sounds like we will likely be in the 5:30 early seating, which would be TAAP. That would make this a tough call, as the Animator's show sounds cool and not to be missed. But it seems unclear what night it will actually be (the 2nd or 3rd night). Does this sound right? Do people have recommendations as to what is the best meal to "miss". How is Parrot Cay? Under the TAAP rotation (if we end up with that), our actual anniversary would be that day.

And we actually get to book at 115 days (the 8th) since my parents have purchased us a dining/spa package as our anniversary gift. Brunch doesn't appeal that much, as one of the benefits is to have a nice dinner away from the kids!

Here's a quick question,
My 17 yr old daughter wants to know if the cruise line offers any teen age spa treatments or facials. She wants to be pampered too.

Good morning everyone!

Ethan's Dad - pirate night has a menu that comes to you on what looks like a treasure map. The servers are dressed as pirates and they do a little parade after dinner around the dining room and get everyone involved, especially the kids. Yes the show in Animator's Palette is where everything starts out in black and white and then goes to color. If you have early dinner what you may want to do is what is called the Disney Double Dip. Have dinner with your kids in the dining room and then go to a later dinner at Palo. When people do this they usually on have an appetizer with the kids. We did it on SSMC05 when we were invited to dine in Palo and it was Pirate's night. We went to our early dinner with the group in our costumes and then changed and headed up to Palo for dinner. Since it sounds like you have the REAS package your Palo dinner would be included and you can book at 105 days out. Enjoy. Oh and one thing I forgot to mention. If you do the double dip it means you'll have to give up the show. The show on the last night of the Member Cruise is usually a special performance. Last year we had Jodi Benson and Jennifer Hudson in concert. So maybe something you wouldn't want to give up.

Raymond - not sure if they offer it on the shorter cruises but I know that at times the spa will offer a teens spa treatment. Most of the time it is 18 and over only. Just checked the most recent 4 day navigator's posted and didn't see any teen treatments. Sorry.

Well, thanks anyway. That should save me a little bit of money, but of course she'll find something else to spend it on.

Hi all,

We are back from California, I won't bore you with all the details. We went from LA to the Grand canyon to Yosemite and ending up at my sisters in Sacramento. It was great. Those are beautiful places. We went to an ordination( the reason for the trip) of a friend of ours who became a priest. What a moving experience. The calling these men feel is just amazing.

I have a few pages of reading to catch up on. We got another packet from Disney witht the correct date for booking on line. So I feel better now. I don't look forward to getting up at 2 am to book Palo, but I am afraid with only one sea day we will never get brunch.

Every one have a great week. I have so much work to catch up on!!!!

You are quite the traveler.

You'll get Palo. Even if you miss it online, once you board go straight to, I think, Diversions????, same floor as Guest Services around the corner, and book it then. Sometimes I get the ships confused - in my old age. ha ha

But then again, after you book Palo's at 2 am just start calling your closest friends just to talk to them. You'll be a hit w/them. :lmao:

Just kidding with 'ya. Welcome back - you were actually missed

Thanks Kay, How are you feeling? I hope all is well. We all ended up with colds in California, we had a hard time with the cool dry air.

I have to admit, we still have the prettiest beaches!!!!
