2007 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC07 - October 21, 2007

:wizard: I'm not sure if we have talked about this yet, but for first timer cruisers make sure to pack a very large extra bag. The gifts we get can big really big and heavy. We also try to ship some of the stuff home. Last year all crusiers received photo albums with wood covers in a wood box.

Isn't that the truth! Started with the first year (2003) when we thought we were finished packing on the last night and came back to our room to find a limited edition teapot! Then in 2005 there were large gift baskets for each person and last year the photo albums. That's why in 2005 and 2006 we drove down. Planning to do the same this year.

I got home from work and what did I find but info from DCL about excursions! :goodvibes I know these next 20 weeks will either go by fast or drag real slow.
We applied for our passports 12 weeks ago and are still playing the waiting game. I even called last week to see where they were and was told that they were getting everyone that needed theirs immediately or within a month done first. :headache: So basically, since we didn't need ours until October then we had to play the waiting game. Good thing I have extra birth certificates for everyone. It doesn't seem fair to those of us that got the paperwork off in plenty of time. That is our government at work-change the rules and not have enough people in place to take care of things.:crazy2:

Good morning everyone! Yes we got our excursion information yesterday as well. Just the generic DCL info which I hope doesn't confuse some new cruisers as it has Nassau information in it. I understand they can't do specific books for us but you would think they could have customized the letter that came with it to say this trip wouldn't stop in Nassau.

It lists my booking day (as a CC member) as July 23rd so those in the cat 2 & 3 would be booking in early July. Hopefully DVC will have a new e-mail out to us with some info before then so that people can make choices for their excursions based on what else is going on.

We got ours yesterday also. The date on ours is wrong though. It says we can't book until August 7th. Do I need to call DVC or DCL to make sure we are on as Castawy club members?

Joanne - for that I would call DCL directly.

Linda - the information you are looking for (as are we all :) ) needs to come from DVC. They do send out a number of e-mails prior to the cruise. Last year one of our main complaints was that the e-mails didn't come often enough or provide enough information to help us with booking excursions. For example it wasn't until after the excursion booking date that DVC announced the group picture would be taken at 10 am on the second CC day. So anyone who booked an excursion at that time was out of luck. :sad2: Hopefully DVC has learned from the feedback many of us left and will be giving us more information this year and sooner. I know they love to have surprises and we love to be surprised as well but please tell us the basics like:

  • when will the group picture be shot
  • what are our arrival times at the island
  • are we having a party the night before (like in 2005)
You know the kind of basics that can help us all plan. DVC if you are reading it is time for an e-mail. :)

Yes I know I'm quoting myself. :lmao: I realized that DVC did address the group picture in their last e-mail saying it would be on the 2nd stop at Castaway Cay. Based on past cruises I would expect this to be at 10 am though they didn't say that in the e-mail. So if you want to be included in the group picture I would not book anything in the 10-11 am range on the second day at Castaway Cay. We always like being part of the group picture as it is a great reminder of the voyage. They first year (2003) you had to purchase it if you wanted it, but the last two years (2005 & 2006) it was delivered to our stateroom as one of our gifts.

I just called DCL. They told me it was a standard form letter and everything was fine. So I go on the website to my reservation and it also says 75 days. Is there an email address for DCL?

Joanne - when you first log into the DCL site down at the very bottom is a link that says e-mail us. That should work.

I know when I call up my reservation it lists my CC number in there. I'm wondering if there is a way to enter it in your profile yourself and would that solve your problem.

Sorry I can't be more help than that. Definately best to get it taken care of now so that you can use the 90 window. As for the person on the phone they were definately wrong because our letter shows the 90 day booking date not the 75 day one. If all else fails call back and ask to talk to a supervisor.

Nice. Looks like I am in for at least 3 more weeks. And on top of it penelize those that actually make the effort to ensure enough time to get them in and processed.

Gotta love it

:woohoo:

I also recieved the DCL docments yesterday and have a question or course. Is there a place to see the prices of these wonderful things to do? Or do I have to wait for the booking date to rethink all my plans?

If you log onto the DCL website you can find the excursions and they have the prices and times available. If you log in to your cruise (using your reservation number) you can even put them on your wish list.

You'll want to log in before booking day to make sure you are set up. It makes online booking much easier.

WOO HOO, I received my documents today :) I haven't read them yet, but still exciting because this is our first cruise.

It's going in the scrapbook :)

Congratulations! BTW I'm assuming you really mean you travel planning document and not your actual trip documents. Those usually come 2-3 weeks before the cruise. Still anything we get at this point is a great joy!

This seems like a great time to remind everyone that you can fill out your documents online at any time since this cruise is paid in full. In doing so early you will have less that they have to print and send out to you.

Yep, I got the same planning things that everyone else was getting.

I just love getting mail from Disney.

Good morning everyone! So glad that so many are getting their trip planning kit. Really makes the cruise seem that much closer.

So I think we talked about this before but now that you can see the excursions what is everyone looking at doing?

Member Gallery Update!

We have two new additions to the Member Gallery on the web page.

Kelly (disney25) and her boyfriend Ron have joined us.

Also joining us is Linda (DVCkidsMOM) and her family DH Rob, DS Robbie, and DD Jean.

Stop on by the gallery to meet them.

Deck 6 looks to be the place with the most DISers. Don't forget to check out the deck plans to see who has a cabin near you!

Amanda wants to do the fishing excursion. Amanda wanted to do that last year but it was sold out. She will probably do that by herself because I'm not good a sitting still and waiting for things to happen
