2007 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC07 - October 21, 2007

Annette, Did you stay in LA too? I'll have to ask Amanda about her tour and figure out which one she did in Oct.

Also just a warning - watch out for gypsy taxi's - we recently met some people on the bus who paid $30 for a one way cab from Queen Mary Church back to SSR. You can find out more at http://www.mousesavers.com/taxi.html

Yes, we stayed at Marriott that was next to the Kodak theatre and on Hollywood ave below the hollywood sign.

Good morning Member Cruisers!

We sail in 20 weeks!

Oh my - week 20! Next week we'll be in the teens. It is coming up fast! Got some updates to do to the member gallery. Hope to have that finished later today or this evening.

keep your eyes peeled to your mailboxes, I just received excursion info yesterday!

Got our package as well, the booklet is very similar to the DVD package they send out by request, but it is put in a nice usable envelope that you can store all your documents in.
We can hardly wait, now the time is coming up quick.

Member Gallery Update!

As mentioned earlier I heard from a number of fellow cruisers who are joining us. Please check out the gallery updates:

TAP & DAP - Tom and Diana are veteran DCL cruisers with 8 previous cruises for Tom and 9 previous cruises for Diana.

Beastly & Beautyous - aka Bruce and Nancy have been on one previous cruise

Tigger1bounce - Mari will be sailing with DH Bob and twins Ashlynne and Allison who she lists as the reason they missed the '05 Member Cruise (the girls were born 9/5/05! :)

I received my package also - on Thursday.

Hey Tom and Diana - it will be nice to be cruising with you again.

Since Linda added our pic, I have added 3 cruises to my numbers.

I arrived in Hawaii this morning, which was 3:30 am my time at home but only 9:30 Hawaii time. So we didn't get in bed until the week hours of the am.

Today will be a definite rest day.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Just a random vent type thing.

Today is officially 9 weeks since we applied for our passports and according to the site, still processing.

Glad I did it early because I don't think I am seeing them anytime soon.

Nothing like having all our birth certificates out in limbo. Sigh.

yep, it can be frustrating. They will get to you soon. I keep telling my sisters they have to do it and not wait until the last 3-4 months. It goes in one ear and out the other - hopefully they will complete theirs soon also. Otherwise, I cruise alone :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

No need to fret - it will arrive shortly.

Cobbler: if it gets too long, you can call your congressman's office, they may be able to help.

Hi everyone - we just received a package of general DCL information. It's not specific to the member cruise though. I can't figure out if I'm overwhealmingly excited or having a panic attack... I want to get to know fellow cruisers, but look how many posts behind I already am! :scared1: I guess I'll be spending the week getting caught up with this thread. I can't wait to see Castaway Cay :beach: I know we'll love it.

Welcome Linda! Just jump right in. If you go to the first page there is a link to the group website and the member gallery which is a great way at getting to know who all is cruising.

Hopefully we will all be getting a new e-mail from DVC soon that is specific to the cruise. Those always help generate excitement as well.

Linda: It is probably for this cruise. Look at the letter at the upper right top and it will have the cruise date on it???

at the bottom it will show the deadline dates to go online and plan your activities - Is it in the large brown envelope??

This is the one, but I was hoping for information specific to our cruise - which shows when, special events etc. I guess I'm getting ahead of myself but how can I make spa and Palo rezzies if I don't know what else I am (not) willing to miss. I figure if I read 12 pages a day, I will hopefully be on the right page Friday evening... I have read the first posts and am so thankful for Mary, Mark, Linda. I have my email for the Navigator/buttons drafted and awaiting DH to download a recent photo of us to attach. And soon I'll be grateful for all other posters and their questions/answers. I'm also looking forward to reading the information links posted. This all assuming that the computer doesn't get cranky and I can give up some sleep :surfweb:

Linda: I believe the events and speakers are handled by DVC, I don't think DCL makes those decisions. Your best bet would be to contact member services and express your concerns to them. If you wanted to, you could write a letter to Jim Lewis as well.

Linda - the information you are looking for (as are we all :) ) needs to come from DVC. They do send out a number of e-mails prior to the cruise. Last year one of our main complaints was that the e-mails didn't come often enough or provide enough information to help us with booking excursions. For example it wasn't until after the excursion booking date that DVC announced the group picture would be taken at 10 am on the second CC day. So anyone who booked an excursion at that time was out of luck. :sad2: Hopefully DVC has learned from the feedback many of us left and will be giving us more information this year and sooner. I know they love to have surprises and we love to be surprised as well but please tell us the basics like:

  • when will the group picture be shot
  • what are our arrival times at the island
  • are we having a party the night before (like in 2005)
You know the kind of basics that can help us all plan. DVC if you are reading it is time for an e-mail. :)
