2007 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC07 - October 21, 2007

Can anyone tell me if it is mandatory to have passports for the cruise? When we booked with DVC, the gentleman said if for any reason we would need air lifted off the island that unless we had a passport, they would not let us leave.

I checked the government site and it is a gray area, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

First off welcome to the DIS and the DCL forums.

What you were told by DVC is true. You DO NOT need a passport to get on or off the ship. However you DO need a passport to fly into the country from outside the US. So if you and your family goes on the cruise and nothing happens you will be fine without a passport. However if one of you gets hurt or sick and you need to be evacuated it would be very very hard to get back in the country without a passport. Since passports will be needed starting next year anyway I would recommend getting one now as peace of mind.

Thanks! That is how I was understanding it.

Looking forward to the Member Cruise, this is our 1st one.

DVC Saratoga Springs members since 2004.

Looking forward to meeting you! If you go to the very first post on this thread there is some info on how to get to our website and what information to send if you want to be included.

Also if you click the monorailgreen link in my siganture below and then go to the DVC page you'll be able to go to the pages we've set up for past Member Cruises and read our trip reports.

We just went in for our passports yesterday. That set us back $358 + the pics. Post office said 10-12 weeks and we should have them back. It was pretty painless - except writing all those checks :teeth:

The gentleman working said he had received word that 250 new workers were hired to issue passports as they were getting loads of applications.

Ours took a while too. We mailed them off 1/27 and just got them last week.

geez, that is a long time to wait for them.

Mine is due to be renewed next year and I'll send it in for renewal after the first of the year.

Kay,

How are you? I think about you and am keeping your in my prayers.

Are any of you American Idol watchers? This is really making me mad. Gina should not have been sent home this week.

Hi

I am doing as good as expected. I have a friend from Salt Lake City, and her DD (Seaulater) flying in tonight and I am picking them up after midnight.

We are going on a short 3 day'er on the Wonder. We have had it booked since before January and I am sort of glad I am able to go.

My family left over the weekend and I was alone for 3 nights. My two daughters call me all the time and come over to see me.

I have a firend in Indiana that calls me all the time also and my sisters in S.C. call me every days - they have been doing that for a good year now - Our phone bills are many pages each month. LOL. So people are keeping me busy.

I will be home on Sunday, tho.

Thank you so much for asking

Have a great trip. Just relax and take care of yourself. We are supposed to have cold weather here this week end. So enjoy the sun. Have a Konk Kooler for me!!

Hi Everyone..welcome any new cruisers.

Hope all of you have a great Easter.

PD to anyone in need.

We sail in 28 weeks!

Happy Easter!

We're just back from Daytona Beach and an overnight at Yacht Club. It turned very cool at the end of the week and we were glad to head back to Georgia and warmer clothes.

Mary would it help to start a list on the front post that had a pre-cruise hotel roster? We have a studio booked at the Beach Club and look to make ADR's at Yachtsman steakhouse for Friday night, Cape May for breakfast Saturday morning and we're leaving Saturday night open for any pre-cruise "festivities".

I think that's a great idea Ursula. That way if we have enough people staying at WDW before the cruise and want to have a meet we can. We had a pretty successful one at the Solarium in the Beach Club last year.

We will be at Saratoga Springs saturday night. We are game to meet up some where.

Hope every one had a great Easter. Here in sunny Florida we woke up to 41 degrees and sleet & hail. I hope it warms up. My youngest came home from college for the week end. It was nice, I cooked too much, we ate too much, but it was fun. So extra time at the gym for me this week.

Have a great week!!!!

Just curious, how is the sail away party? Is it fun? We have two boys 11 and 6 and figured they would enjoy it.

Is it something you have to get to early so the deck won't be full?

yes it is a lot of fun. You really can't get there very early because it's after the safety drill. Deck 10 is a greatplace to watch, but if your kids want to dance then deck 9 is the place. We never get tired of it. The crew is so full of energy.
