2007 Basic Package Bookings Available NOW!

I am little confused as well after reading this thread. I booked my room only reservation, because the CM that I spoke with told me packages would not be out until Aug. or Sept. and they wouldn't even know exactly what day. He said that they don't know the exact date in advance, that it is basically just available one day. Don't really know how true this is, I would think they would know when packages come available, but then again I don't work there. I will call again tomorrow and ask about a basic package.

We have 2 of the all star family suites book for april and when I called the guy reccommended that we do the dining plan do you think that means they are making this available with the new vacation packages for 2007 or do you think he just made a mistake? Also they now let DVC members book dining so why not people who book suites? Maybe this will be a new option I hope so because if not we are going to switch to regular rooms especially if they offer free dining! But since I want them to I'm sure they won't! LOL!

You've always been able to book the dining with suites, as long as you have the package you can book it with any of the disney resorts no matter what type of room you get.

I tried 2 times to book through WDW reservations, but was told they have no AAA rates for 2007. I mentioned the "basic" package and everything.

Is it possible that, if it's available, only AAA agents know about it about this point?

You can't book an AAA package, only a room-only with AAA discount. If you want an AAA package, the AAA agent has to make it for you.

I'm a little confused about this as well.

We tried to book a "basic package" today with our AAA agent, and he said that NO 2007 packages would be available until the 2007 rates are out.

Does he just not know about the basic package? Are the basic packages only available in certain areas?

A lot aren't or weren't aware that a basic package could be book. It all depends on the agent you (or your agent) talked to.

You can book a basic package now. You won't get the AAA discount until the packages are out. Some of the agents at WDTC aren't very knowledgable.

Ok, I'm now very very confused. I booked a room only reservation for 2007 back in march. I likewise did this for 2006. When the prices came out for 2006 (june 30th) i just added MYW tickets that included PH, plus options and the disney dining plan. I was not refunded my down payment for the room only, they just added the ticket "package".

Obviously i am missing something here. Aren't the packages the same price as the room only plus the tickets with whatever options you want? Are they somehow cheaper? I know that disney didn't offer a discounted "package" until november for the trip last january, and my resort wasn't included in it.

This is kind of an important topic as other family members have booked room only reservations and assume I will keep them updated on what they need to do next.

belleandthebeast who posted above is a AAA agent and she is absolutely wonderful. I know this because she is my AAA agent. She is the one who cancelled our "room only" ressie on Saturday and rebooked the "basic" package for me. If she's telling you there is a "basic" package available for booking there is because she knows her stuff!!! She has been so patient and understanding with me and my constant changes that I would not hestitate to recommend her to anyone.

Just some FYI: I called Saturday to change my room only ressie to the basic pkg and the CM said it couldn't be done yet. I called back yesterday and asked to do the same thing and my CM, ROSS (if you're on the boards, you rock!) was able to do it. I'd suggest calling back until you find someone who can help you. He was very helpful. If you plan on doing a package, I would go ahead and switch to this. It will be much easier to change to a particular package once they come out. He commented that this is definitely the best way to go about it. Hope this helps someone!

I sent a message to DU today once I read that basic packages could be booked. The agent, Cathy, told me that she was not able to get pricing information for me until later in summer.

I really would like to book our "land" portion of the trip since we booked a cruise for next year as well. We are planning on several nights at Disney before going on the cruise.

I am now trying to decide what to do about this. Should I call Disney myself? Should I e-mail DU back and ask her to try again? Should I just let it go for now?

I have no clue about how hard to push on this. I just know that I am going to feel better when I have reserved our package - even if it is just the basic package to start with.

I read somewhere that you couldn't book the dining plan with a villa (dvc home away from home) but haven't heard about a suite. I hope thats not true because we've booked a suite at CSR and would like dining plan - theres no kitchen/kitchenette like at the villas.

The pricing isn't available yet so your agent Cathy told you correctly. I now have the "basic" package booked but I still have no idea what my complete package will cost. No one knows how much of an increase if any (yeah, right) there will be on passes and the dining plan so they can't price the packages yet. I hope this helps somewhat!

I only asked for the basic package to be booked and understand that I will have to add tickets and whatever other prices to it. I just wanted to be able to book it as a package instead of a room only which I would have to cancel when the full packages come out.

I just want to be able to reserve the room with the $200 deposit and just be able to add the things I need when all the information comes out later in the summer.

Has anyone been able to reserve a basic package at CSR or the Poly? These are the two we are considering.

I am thinking I might just call WDW on my own tomorrow and skip using a travel agent for this part of our trip.

The "basic" package should be good at all resorts. I think I would call Disney. If you get a CM who doesn't know about the "basic" package as many have said ask to speak to a supervisor. I don't blame you for wanting to go the package route instead of the "room only" so call and don't give up until you get your ressie!!!
I did the "room only" so I had to cancel, get the deposit credited back to my debit card, rebook and do the new $200 deposit not much work for me as my AAA agent did it but still a pain none the less.

I was able to reserve a basic package for the Poly on Sunday morning. At first the CM said LVC wasn't available and I almost started crying. She then checked a little more and found out the problem was they hadn't been loaded into the computer. So we are now booked for 6 night at the Poly LVC for May 2007. Now I just wish it would hurry up and get here.

We have called 2 different times and were told both times can't book a package until August. We have a room only ressies at CSR for May 2007 and each time we have been told room only is a basic package. Well, today is the 4th so I can't do anything today but I will call again tomorrow!
