Just called, got POR Aug 12-21 2007 $129.34 tax included :cool1:
That's 1164.00 for 9 nights. I'm so excited you can't even imagine, well... yea you guys can. It's everyone else who can't. :rotfl2:

The discount is low because starting in 2007 value season starts earlier in August. This August the same time would be regular season, starting next August (maybe the 5th) value season begins, so it makes the rates at the lowest. I was glad to see this change. Value season always started earlier for the Delux resorts, but not value and moderate resorts. This is why you got such a low rate, because it was a discount on an already low rate. It should only get better when AP discounts are released for this timeframe.

That is $129.34 per room per night and $1164.00 per room right? I can't believe you got a moderate for $65.00 a night so it must be per room. Of course if it is $65.00 a night I'll be making some reservations. :)

Did anyone get a mod discount during their new summer season yet? I'm wondering what the rate is?
Thanks! :sunny:

How in the heck are y'all getting through on a Sunday? I'm new to AAA and see nothing on their website, and when I call the 888 number, I get a recording telling me that they're closed on Sundays. :confused3

ETA: Nevermind. I guess y'all are getting the AAA rates through CRO. I need to book a package. Guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow.

i got that same rate for the middle of january! just called disney and was estatic that they had rooms available at the aaa rate!

YOu can book through CRO and get AAA rates? Do you have to be a AAA member?

You can only get a room only discount through CRO.

If you want a package you have to go through AAA.

You have to be a AAA member in order to get the discount. I had to show my AAA card twice during check in to prove I was a member.

My AAA office is open on Sundays :) I spoke with my AAA rep today. They had no idea 2007 package prices were out yet :teeth: I priced out summer and regular season at POR (we might arrive May 23 or 24 and 24th is the start of summer season). It was about $85 more for the summer package rate for 9 nights. HTH!

I sent my AAA agent an email yesterday about what package I wanted to switch my room only reservation too. She did it first thing this morning. We got 10 nights as POR in a king size bed room with 10 day MYW tickets w/park hopper & water park fun and more options for $2397.76. With the AAA discount that was a savings of $312.20 from the price quoted on disney.com.

What dates are you going? How many people? Thanks!
Edited because I realize from your siggy (and the king room) that it's probably just you and DH :) We're booking 10 nights at POR May 23-June 2 with 10 day hoppers, no water parks, with dining for me, DH, DD13, DS8, and DS4 (at time of travel). We were quoted $3954 for nine nights yesterday but we decided to stay there our first night also, so I've got to call and book tomorrow and get the 10 night price. :Pinkbounc I can't believe we're staying that long :dance3:

jenr812, when you stay at the POR with three kids, are you staying in one or two rooms?? If its two rooms,do they gaurantee you adjoining door rooms??
I was wanting to stay their also and we have threee children, but they said they couldn't gaurantee connecting rooms. I have had to book ASMU family suites so we could be together. Was your price through Disney or that AAA. I am in Australia, and don't think I could get AAA over here. Never heard of it anyway.

We stayed in one room (and will again next May) in Alligator Bayou with the trundle bed. Our older two shared a bed last year (they were 11 and 6) and our youngest (then 2) slept in the trundle. This time, they will be 13, 8, and 4...not sure that arrangement will still work, so we may have DD13 and DS4 share the bed and have DS8 in the trundle. I did book the 10 nights tonight for $4251.06 and that was through AAA. (AAA is the American Automobile Association, so you're right about it not being available in Australia - perhaps there is something similar there? But I doubt it would help you at Disney!) It was around $275 more to buy the package directly through Disney, so without AAA it would be around $4526ish. HTH! :goodvibes

Are some of you getting AAA packages with dining, or are you all doing AAA room only ressies? I was under the impression that you have to pay rack rate with dining.

We got an estimate from our TA for 8/07....12 nights at POR, 10 days of hoppers, and the dining plan (3 adults/1 kid) = $4500+. Ouch.

I did some number crunching. If we got an AAA room (room only ressie--used the figure quoted here of $129/night) and bought our tickets on our own, then the price would be $2600+.

$4500 - $2600 = $1900 difference!

We are not going to eat $1900 worth of food on our trip.

If my estimates are correct, we'd be better off doing a AAA room-only ressie instead of the dining plan, where we'd be paying not only for 3 adults and 1 child on dining but also would be paying rack rate on the room.

Thoughts?

(My dh is set on staying at POR, so the resort isn't going to change to renting dvc points or to a value to save & get the dining plan).
