nice website for the Gemz...........We are family!!! Great bow and arrows!!!

So I realized last night that my dd will don her high school's cheerleading uniform just two more times...once for the orientation for incoming freshmen, and once for "Unity day", a district-wide festival. Sigh...

where is she looking to go to college??? My DD has one more year left before that happens!!! UGH!! Time flies.

She was admitted to three colleges here on Long Island and two in New England, and we're waiting to hear from one more school (the letters go out next week). She really wants to go away to school, so she's not seriously considering the local schools...though when she got an opportunity to work out with the co-ed cheerleading team at one of the local schools, she briefly reconsidered staying here, she had so much fun with the team, doing stunts she neve did with the high school team.

So now she's got a major decison to make. The two New England schools ...they're both fine schools, they both offered her considerable financial aid, they both have a vibrant student body with lots of social activity on campus. One school is urban, the other is located in a suburban/rural area.

Now, as for cheerleading...

One school has a competitive cheerleading team. The team does sideline cheering at basketball games (the school doesn't have a football team) and local and regional competitions against other college teams.

The other school's cheerleading team supports the school's football and basketball teams, but does not compete. Nevertheless the team requires stunting and tumbling skills, e.g., everyone must be able to do a standing back handspring.

I know the cheerleading opportunities will affect her decison, but I hope it won't be the only facotr -- though either school would be fine with me.

We're off to Orlando tomorrow for American Championships

Hey Some of our teams are going to be there also!!! our Tiny1,Pee-wee 1,youth 1, youth 2.

What of your teams are going?? We need to meet!!! I will only be there on Sunday I am one of the coach for the Youth one team.

Good luck Brenda!!! or should I say Good luck to your DD!! Have a blast!! Love the website!!

We get word on the MRI either late today or sometime tomorrow!! Fingers are crossed but I know that regardless of what it says, she is competing at WSF and Worlds!!! Just not throwing the running tumbling!! She is quite stubborn!!!!

I wish we were leaving tomorrow!!! One month away for us!! UGH!!!

tnkrbll............will you be going to watch Worlds at all? If so, I will be staying at OKW. Most likely I will only be going over to watch the Co-ed teams because my other DD's rather be at the pool!!! LOL!! Can't blame them, especially after this winter.

I dont blame DD hanging by the pool is so fun!!!!

Anyone have any websites or ideas for cheer goodie bags. We want to make some up for our girls for our next competition. Thanks!

How old are your girls?? If they are young a fun thing to do is print this poem and put in the colors it says using candy, the kids love it!!

Magic candy
As I was running errands earlier today, I met a wise old elf. She was very pleasant and asked why I was in such a hurry. I told her I had a cheerleading practice with you girls - our last one before competition.

"Cheerleaders?" she asked. "Are they any good?"

Well, being the proud psycho cheer mom that I am, I responded - "Of course, when they put their minds to it!"

"So tell me more" she asked, and I sat down and told her about each and every one of you.

When we were all finished with our chat, she was pleased that I took the time to be with her. She was so pleased and impressed that she sent along a gift for each of you. She told me that if you follow the directions exactly as they are, you will shine at competition Saturday !

These are magic candies to be eaten very specifically and carefully. Look over their descriptions and consider your needs before you do anything.

The BLUE candies are for helping you to stick your stunts (whether you base, spot or fly) and any tumbling passes that you do.

The RED candies are for mighty Team spirit - to help keep it shining through.

The GREEN candies will make your jumps strong and powerful so that you'll seen to be flying.

The ORANGE candies are for mighty voices that will keep strong and not seem to be dying.

The YELLOW candies will help to make you smile - you know you're winners with those great grins!!!

The way these candies work is very strange indeed. You may pick three for things you think you need the most help with the night before the competition. No you can only take candy from someone you know

That's a cute idea for a goodie bag Brenda!! Too bad the senior kids wouldn't appreciate it! LOL!!

Good luck this weekend............bring home the title!!!

Thank you for the idea! Very cute! We have two squads and the little ones would like this. I'll have to come up with something different for the Seniors.

Any other ideas?

Hey Brenda,
I am trying to be there by 8:30 on Sunday, what team is your dd on?? I will try and go watch her!! I am short and blonde and will have on a white polo that says Gemz all-stars on one side and my name on the other.
I will be backstage with my Youth one team.

Hey is anyone going to be at Athletics in Destin next weekend? We are going to be there and this will be our last competition of the season.

Tryouts for next season are at the end of April. My DD wants really bad to make the youth squad, she has been working really hard lately to get her multiple robhs and tuck.

Good Luck to everyone who has comps this weekend!

Gifts:
For UCA, some of the teams made flip flops for their kids. Some of the older teams got Tote Bags that team moms decorated and added sharpies in the bags. Since this was the last competition of the season for us, they had the sharpies so they could autograph each other's bags.

hmmm....

Dd has to mke her decision on college and get a check into the school of her choice by May 1.

Cheerleading tryouts at school A are in April, but tryouts at school B are in May.

Sp she won't know if she's made the team at school B before she has to decide which school to attend.

Good luck to everyone competing this weekend. Our
all-star season is over.
DD11 is trying out for her middle school team tomorrow. DD9 is trying out for a new all-star team in town on Saturday after a year off for tumbling. Keep your fingers crossed for both of them.:scared:
rbuzzotta- Hope all is well with you and your DD.
