2007-2008 cheer parent thread

How excited are you guys?? Nothing better then Cheering AND Disney!!!!!! :) :)
This weekend the Florida Sharks had their special needs team and they were so amazing!!! They had the whole crowd on their feet!!!

We had a pretty good weekend my dd team took 2nd.

We are at the RNRR stage both days. It was like a steam bath in there last year. It was also way too small for the the number of spectators. I wish we were at the Milk House.
Good luck to you! We leave in 48 hours.:thumbsup2

We are at the Indiana Jones theater. However, hopefully we will get to head on over and watch your team as DD has friends on our team that is competing with you.

We had our final parent meeting on Sunday. Our gym owner warned us that we are going against the best of the best in the country, so don't be disappointed if we don't come home with the 1 place trophies. :goodvibes

We hold our own pretty well on the West Coast, but have been forewarned that the East Coast is a completely different story, with the UCA being the cream of the crop. We are ready to compete at this level, but wow, is it going to be tough!

We are SO excited to see all the great teams!

We leave on Thursday, as the special needs team doesn't have to check in till Friday. All other teams have to check-in by Thursday afternoon.

:cheer2: Good Luck to everybody competing this weekend at UCA!:cheer2:

 Congratulations! 2nd place is awesome!

The special needs team we are up against, the Kentucky Elite Showcats, are so good that they were awarded a full-paid World's Bid at Cheersport.

We are beyond excited to meet the team that started Special Needs Cheer. If anybody has a chance, try to catch them. They are phenomenal and such an inspiration!

I WISH I was going to that competition!!!! I would be in the first row cheering them on!!!!! :) :)

Kentucky Elite Special needs team had me on my feet at Cheersport!!!

During the awards ceremony (they had numerous ones on sunday), they opened up with the footage of the KE team getting awarded the FULL PAID BID to Worlds!!! I cried!!! It was sooooooooooo heartwarming!!! Those kids were just jumping up and down!! I can't wait to see them perform at Worlds this year!!

Glad to hear everyone is doing well. DD has been stunting and on Sunday actually did a few jumps!!! She said it was tender. Now she has to get worked back into the routine (her stunt group is fine but needs to get back in for everything else). I think they are waiting to see what she is capable of.

Her team leaves for Disney on Friday, April 25 on a 6 AM flight and return on Monday the 28th after midnight!!! WE are trying to go down the day before her!! She is staying at one of the allstar hotels and we are staying at OKW!! I guess I will only see her on stage!!! Her schedule is pretty well planned out with team meetings/practices/activities etc.

Will anyone else be at Worlds 2008???

That is great she is back in!!! :) :) I bet she is getting excited about the competitions!!! It is no fun to sit back and watch when they love the thrill of the stage!!! I KNOW!! I will not be doing the parent team this year (next weekend) because I just had a hysterectomy on Feb 13th!! :( I am so sad because it is soooo fun!!! I will just be their biggest fan!!:thumbsup2

She had a good practice again last night. She was stunting and HAPPY. They are working her back into the opening section of the routine this week. Not sure about the tumbling section but while the cross tumbling is going on (that is where she throws her double full) there are a few stunts going up in the back so maybe she can fly in that if she can't get back to full tumbling for April 5!!!

She is happy to be back even if only partly there!

Good luck to those that have competitions this weekend!!!

I know you all are already in Orlando so here comes some pixie dust for you!!!!!!!!*******:wizard:

Thanks! We are still down here, but had a great weekend. A bit cold, but we were happy with our results! Our gym did great. UCA awarded both special needs teams National Championships as one was an assisted team and one was an unassisted team, so too difficult to score against each other.

Congrats Polkadotminnie! It looks like Tumblebeez had a great weekend too.

Nice pics goofy, but you may want to tell the one coach she needs a longer shirt..........:rotfl: Not sure she wanted that showing for the world to see.:woohoo:

Mom21 does Elite compete this weekend??

Some of our teams do...some don't. Our Level 4 and 5's and one of our Level 3 went to DC this past weekend. The rest of us that didn't go will be at the USCA US Grand in Miami. Also, apparently there was a big brouhaha over DC and it may keep us from going to Jamfest in Tampa (you are going right?), because rumor has it that the same people that ran the DC one (Atlantic Coastal) have been taken over by the Jamfest people. I'll let you know if we end up not going.

BTW was anyone in DC this weekend for the AC Nationals?
