2007-2008 cheer parent thread

so I am guessing it is a state of the art facility. It certainly is much nicer than the old facility.

Yes!!! It is very state of the art!! Beautiful!!

And my DD team juniors My DD is the one in the begining down on the floor and tumbles across the screen in the start of song

Great routine!! Your daughter looks so much older then 9 in that video!~! Very nice!!!! I am really enjoying watching everyones teams!! I wish I had a video of our girls on u-tube!!!!

Vern, I'm sorry your DD was cut. Maybe she'll give it another try next year.
As for the makeup at the competition I attended, the girls who were not from that facility (Cheer Stars Extreme) didn't even wear much makeup. The competition was in the grandstands at the county fair. The girls weren't very close to the audience but right in front of the judges table. The only light was sunlight.

I bet you would be surprised. We have four gyms close to us (none in our town but within 30 minutes). This link has a whole list of gyms throughout the nation. http://www.cheerleading.net/cheerweb-gyms.html

Yea, I understand that but wearing the makeup year round, no matter what the lighting is, is to help the girls get used to it. You said they were all-stars which means they probably go to at least 2 championships a year. It is also practice for the parents (see if they can actually apply the makeup the required way) and almost like a dress rehearsal. If the coaches don't like how it looks, they will change it.

I can only speak from our limited experience, but no matter if we were at a competition, performing at a local festival, or riding in a parade, the makeup was to remain the same. Ours was pretty simple, light blue eye shadow with glitter, liner, mascara, blush was up to the individual, and those bright red lips. Early in the season we even had to have it for dress rehearsals. I think the idea was to make sure we were all on the same page. We're supposed to get new, better makeup this season, the the color scheme will be the same, but I believe the colors will be more intense.

Same with our gym. Even at our parent showcase, where all the teams perform their routines for the parents in the gym before the first competition, is done in full hair and makeup.

Just had our first regular practice / parent meeting yesterday.

Our fees this year:

Our gym just charges us cost as we are the Special Needs team. We have a 501c3 organization set up for fundraising & tax donations - so owners can write some of it off and we use corporate donations to offset some of the fees.

Our inclusive price will be $70.00 per month. This includes gym time, practice t-shirt, shoes, bow, makeup and competition fees. Does not include airfare and hotel for Nationals.

Due to our being the special needs team, our fees are way less than the regular teams, although we do go to most of the competitions with them.

We are doing new uniforms this year, so don't know what the cost of those will be. It depends on how many donations we get.

The fees are not too bad, but I cannot imagine paying what you all pay :scared1:

We will hear where we are travelling for Nationals in March by early September. Keeping my fingers crossed that we are going to Orlando for the American Open.

I am getting so nervous. We have a competition at the fair tomorrow night. The squads are nowhere near ready. But for only having about 10 hours of practice they look alright. But last night nothing was coming together and everything was falling apart. I just hope it all comes together. I am just hoping they get to the right spots and don't look completely clueless.

OMG Good Luck!! pixiedust: We don't have our first comp until October, I don't think that we would look real good right now.

:cheer2: Good Luck!:cheer2: Do you know about what time they will go on? I'd LOVE to rip myself away from working our display and come watch them!
I know DD will be in the audience. She's been looking forward to this for weeks!

We are the Just Kickin' Starz. My DS' group opens the competiton at 6:30. My DD goes on at 6:54. We will have on pink and black skirts with black t-shirts. The uniforms didn't come in like they were supposed too. Our older girls go on at 7:26 and 7:50. I had no idea how big this was. They have squads every 4 minutes from 6:30 to almost 9pm. It is going to be a long night.

Well don't worry about the little things! Tell the kids to have fun! They're going to be GREAT!:thumbsup2

I'm going to try really hard to get over there. Hopefully DH won't be too busy and I can sneak away. :rolleyes1
