Well, starting yesterday, the day they were posted, I've been trying to find decent prices for summer 2006. How much earlier could we be for the early booking discount that seems to be non-existent at this point. For a category 7 we were quoted over $4000 for two people! And a cat. 10 is a hair under $3000!!!!!

I don't know if I'll ever be able to afford a DCL vacation again. Boo hoo!

We booked our first cruise for July 30th 2006 for 6 Wife, Kids, (17, 14,7,4), and myself. We have 2 cat 7 rooms ( 6140, 6142). It was 7460.78. That was no ground transfers or vaction insurance(covered by credit card). That was a 7 day land and sea cruise with 4 days a wdw resort.

Those prices were just a bit higher for the same time frame for 2005.

This is a one in a life time thing before the 17 year old goes to college.:(

Her 17th B-day will be on July 31st 2006

good luck

Lori - We are doing the same only during Easter - I'm still swallowing hard over the prices... but life is short

I found the August 19th 7 day sailing prices to be comparable to current "off season" prices - check around various weeks in the summer for lower rates. Good luck!:earsgirl: :earsboy:

We are booked on the oct 22-05 and we are paying 2605.60 for the 4 of us in a 12. I checked yesterday with costco for the oct 14 -06 two days at C.C. and it was only 2465.12 for the same people. so it would be cheeper for us to wait 1 more year, (now that would be two don't think I can wait that long) but would LOVE to go to C.C. twice.we have never been to any disney before and want to go in oct for my sons birthday. Don't know what to do now, unless I book both and go next year and wait if 07 will have two days at C.C. also, If not go both years.

I got quote for my DD and I for 06 and it seems only around $100 more than what I am paying for the same type cruise for October 05.

This is what ALLEARS quoted me

10-14-06 Special Western for 2 people-Cat 10 SPR 5020 on hold
is $1874.

5-27-06 Special Western....All SPR GONE!! Cat 11 for 2 was given as $2099.00
Cat 10 $2200

I did not think that was too terrible. I think further into summer it was more expensive??

We are struggling with this too, and I am afraid we won't be able to do any more Disney Cruises again after the one we have in December (which was priced as a value season cruise in 2002 when I booked it--now it is sold out).

We can't go in value season anymore (the twins are moving to Middle School next year and it is too difficult to take them out for a week). I am going through DCL depression. I had hoped that by booking at the very earliest (now) that we could get a good summer price.

Oh well, it has been fun while it has lasted.

Try Dana at CruisePlanners (1800-385-8233) She is great and has even beat the best price I found (Costco). She seems to work really hard at getting the best price.

We spoke to DCL this morning and they are already having
price INCREASES for 2006!!!

IF you are holding space with DCL make sure to put
down your deposit so you do not loose your rate.......
also make sure to confirm your rates with the TA or
DCL.......

DCL is getting a unbelievable response to the 2006 sailings
and they said that they are not even holding GROUPS for
their peak times......(for now) :) Alot can happen between
now and then, BUT, as long as you put down your deposit
you can protect your rate and watch if any specials are
offered at a later date.

DCL also has changed their cancellation policies AND they
have also started raising the 3rd and 4th guests rates on
certain categories so make sure to confirm your rates with
the agents over and over again. This is still new to the
res agents at the cruise lines also. No excuse, but they
are human also, so just watch yourself and reconfirm :)

Did you check the 5-27-06 dates?? Won't your twins be out of school for the summer then???
I did not think the rates were to bad and I am willing to give up my window and stay with the inside cabins if it means I get to still go. Plus booking this early we may get lucky and be upgraded.

You know these double CC trips will be popular and so they may end up wanting more room in the lower cat???:hyper: Ya never know...

Now the one I have on hold till Monday is the 10-14-06 cruise and it would work cause DD is always off school for 2 days the 3rd week of October...So she would only miss 3 days of school. I don't mind taking her out for that many days.:wave2:

Good luck.....

I really have no business going either, but I figure I have 2 years to pay it off...

I'm pricing some summer 2006 cruises also. Not noticing huge discounts. The prices will NEVER go down if people continue to pay the prices. supply and demand, etc.

After reading these posts I was thinking that my first Disney cruise this month could possibly be my last. So out of curiosity I got a quote from Disney on the same package and date as this one and because of the early booking discount it was actually $8.00 cheaper than what I paid for this years. So depending on how this one goes there may be a second after all.

School goes until the end of the first week in June so that wouldn't work for us. It sounds like a lot of Dis members are going and it should be fun!

I just got off the phone with Dana ( www.micdan.com ) - She was suggested to me in another thread - and she is wonderful!!!!

I just booked for week before Easter 2006 and she saved me enough money to actually cover what I figure would be my excursions plus a few drink of the days me for me and dh :bounce: :bounce:

If anyone hasn't booked and is depressed about the prices - try Dana - you just never know!!!

I'm goin' to Disney (cruise):goodvibes

Have to set up my countdown

Lil

We are looking at the 8/19/06 cruise and our quote for 2 adults 2 kids (11 & 4) for a catagory 4 was only $5500. Your quote of $4000 seems very high. I did mine through DU

Hope you find a better price

Judy

Just out of curiosity:

Lots of people have been commenting on the high prices for 2006. Is that because people are booking summer, holiday weeks (like Easter) and the special itinerary that goes to CC twice?

I had 12/5/05 booked and moved to 12/2/06 (both regular W. Carib itineraries). I got exactly the same stateroom, kept my onboard booking credits, and got a price for about $300 less. Of course, I was also moving my res from DCL to my TA, which accounts for the discount, but if anything, it's a comparable price. After reading all the threads on the unexpectedly higher prices, I was starting to worry!

My high quotes were for summer. My kids don't get out of school until early June and have been starting again around August 23, so those late May and late August cheaper rates won't work for us. We don't have many days off during the school year either! After this year's hurricanes, I'm fearful of booking in August, although i know July can also have hurricanes.

I think the high prices are in the peak seasons (when school is out). I had looked at a 3 night in July and it was up $500 from this year's rate. But the value season rates still look fine.

We have always cruised in September, but with my girls in Middle School next year we have to go by the school schedule for now on and I am having sticker shock.

I noticed the same thing. We don't have any kids yet so off season is great for us. The price of 2006 is just over $100 cheaper than the 2005 price for the same cruise. Except the 06 cruise has the two CC stops! We are definalty going in 06! By the way it was for the Sept 16th cruise.
