Well since Cindy is still posting she must have survived the weather today.
They had some very strong storms. I hope she had no damage!

Cindy - saw on the news this morning that the roof came off a strip mall in Schaumburg. Hope you guys are ok! The storm wasn't very strong when it rolled through here last night. Heavy rain but that was about it.

The nasty weather rolled through here about 5:30 and lasted all of about 1 minute. Those in the area who might have seen the news last night, the strip mall that lost it's roof in the "wind" is about a mile from my house. Our end of the block only lost 1 limb of a larger tree and not in my yard, thankfully. The other end of the block lost 3 huge trees, right in a row, as well as had at least 2 trampolines and a shed pass through their neighbors yards.

The kids and I were working on homework, we looked outside, the skies didn't look so great, the lights flickered and it hit -- fast! We took off towards the middle bathroom and by the time we were in there, I came back into the kitchen to see if the sirens were going off - which they weren't, but it was all over. Strangest thing.

A friend on the next blocked called us to see if we were okay as she couldn't get home. If she hadn't, we most likely wouldn't have known anything was amiss until I tried to get out later. And, we didn't even have much rain.....when we walked down to the end of the block, it was hardly even drizzling.

They said it was strong wind that caused it, but looking at the damage around here, I just don't know. Things are toppled over left and right and when we drove by the stripmall last night, it was a sight to be seen.

The best news is that no one in our area was hurt, which is amazing based on what I saw of the remains of the storms furry!

Wow Cindy!! I'm glad to hear that you and your family didn't suffer any damage. What a scary event!!! I haven't even talked to my brother. Was it just in the Schaumburg area or was it all over the NW suburbs?

....Oh--wait, you wanted house details didn't you?!?!

And yes---we found a house. 2 actually, and they're right next door to each other. We fell in love with this one community. And it wasn't the one I thought I'd like best. Both are going into foreclosure which can work to our benefit b/c it takes some more time but now we're waiting on Bruce's work. He has a meeting today where he's going to try to put this in the fast lane, but we'll see what happens.

Diana - see if your agent can find out if either of the 2 homes are FHA loans.... IF SO.... you can bid less than payoff generally.... they can get an FHA appraisal through their mortgage co and they will find out what the lowest they can accept. minimum accepted is 82% of AS IS appraised value. Of course in FL homes tend to appreciate a bunch so this may not work to your advantage but it is also a possibility. ASK your realtor about a short sale (pre-foreclosure sale).

Amy - did not know you bought into AKV - we thought about it and delayed. Still might do it cause I really liked it a bunch. I am on a waitlist for Nov 21 and 22.... uugh

Yeah, we got talked into it while we were on our cruise. We just did an add-on because Chris really likes AKL and we figured the girls would really like it!!!

We went and visited the rooms set up at SSR and wow they are gorgeous!! If we weren't planning on this move, we would have added on in a heartbeat!
