Just popping in for a quick minute...I see you guys have been busy this weekend. This is the first time that I have checked email, and been online since Thursday afternoon.
On Wednesday Tim had a Spinal Lumbar puncture, that has caused a lot of greif since. They had trouble locating the fluid, so there was 3 puntures, and sicne he has had an unbearable headache. He did go home on Wednesday, to wake up that evening with the worst headache he has ever had. We called the surgeon who performed the procedure, and he said to lie flat, and if the pain was still there return to the hospital on Friday afternoon, and they would do what is called a epidural blood patch, this is where they go back into the spine, and insert your blood in the hopes that it will clot, and seal the leaking spinal fluid.
So we go back to the hospital on Friday afternoon, and hes prepped for the blood patch. We are in the surgical waiting area, and the dr comes out, and explains the risks, and complications...100% of people have some sort of back pain that can last up to 30 days, 20% develop infection from reinserting your blood into the spine, 1-2% the headaches increase because they re-puncture the spinal fluid sack. So the Dr, says we have one other option, and that is to stay in the hospital on pain meds, and wait it out, most of the time the pain subsides within 7 days of the puncture. We both decide to wait. So he is admitted to the hospital at this point. And has been there since.
He was scheduled again for the blood patch on monday, and then his Dr's consulted with another Dr, and decided after the complications with the spinal, they would not do it, and would just let him wait it out. I have been at the hospital, night and day since(Thank God for my parents, they have had the girls). Today was my 1st day back to work, his dad is sitting with him today. The pain has subsided about 40-50% for him since last night. He is able to sit up, a little now, and is getting better. Hopefully he will go home on Friday. I just hate to see him in all this pain. Well, I have a mound of work to catch up on, and have no energy, or desire to do it, so I had better get to it, so I can head back to hospital and check on Tim.
Hope everyone has a great Tuesday, and the rest of the week.
