2006 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC06 - October 22, 2006

How can I forgot that morning! DH was on the cell, I was on the house phone and using my office line too. At first the phone just rang and rang and then a disconnect! About 10 minutes later the phone rang and I was placed on hold. I was so afraid I would get disconnected that I told DH to continue to try to get through. I really hope all of us that want to go again can get through. Annmarie

Ok, coming out from underneath the rock I live under. Been home almost 2 weeks and didn't know this thread had been started. Good thing Cindy mentioned on it on another thread.

We will be trying to get through too, using the home line, business line and 2 cell phones. Anything to get through!

I was under the impression that you had to be a DVC member to go on the cruise - from what I'm reading a DVC member could book for other non members?? I understand for non members sharing your room, but could you book a seperate room for a non member family?

HI Gail - glad you found us.

You could book it if you have the money and points. I HOPE people wouldn't because it would mean taking a room away from DVC Members and I know that the cabins on this sailing are going to be even harder to get. More and more members want to go.

I guess for me, I don't mind if non-members go on the cruise. But, it would be nice if they are considering DVC, at least!

Welcome, Gail!! :) Don't I know you from somewhere?? :rotfl2:

My BIL Marc is a non-member and he went on the cruise. But he was in my MIL's room who is a member. So he wasn't taking up another cabin.

I wish the rumor was true that the Wonder and Magic would sail in tandem....both filled with DVC'ers. I think we could fill them!

One for DIS board DVC'ers, the other for "regular" DVC'ers ;)

Good morning hopeful cruisers.

Call in day is 10 weeks away

(if they keep to the 12/3 call in date)

Can anyone tell me why, when the cruise was 10 weeks away, we were getting so close....but with the call in date being 10 weeks away, it seems like an eternity? Maybe it's just me..... :confused3

Diana - I know what you mean. :)

I think part of it is that by the time the actual cruise was 10 weeks away we had all been talking for so long and the anticipation was building. We were getting close to finally getting together.

Now we have 10 weeks until we can even find out if we are sailing and the anticipation is going to make the weeks go slower!

I don't know, but 10 weeks sounds SO far away. But, if we all get in, it will be a GREAT holiday present!!!

I'm sure you will never be able to forget me and if we both make it on the next Member Cruise make sure you stay close by me with lots of $1's & $5's. :rotfl:

I feel like I'm missing out on a great story here. Want to share?

Giddy is a good word. :teeth:

I didn't think it would be difficult to get through. I was in charge of cashiering at the preschool book fair that day. Fortunately, I was able to get through and make it to the school in time to help set up. I would have felt uneasy leaving Gary to try and get through but I would have held up my volunteer duties. Who knows, maybe it would have been the difference between getting a cabin and not. I'm glad it worked out the way it did. :cheer2:

Thanks for the confidence in my abilities :rolleyes1

Karen and I both stayed at the VWL after the cruise. John dropped off our luggage with the bell hop and went to park the car. I was getting on the elevator with Karen and her family and Karen heard me talking to John on my cell phone telling him I only had $20's & $50's on me and nothing smaller to tip the bell hop. Then the bell hop guy gets on the elevator with us with my luggage. Mike loaned me some smaller bills so I could tip my bell hop. The bellhop dropped off my luggage and then passed John in the lobby. John stopped him to ask if he had delivered luggage to our room and the guy said yes. John was going to tip him, but the bell hop told him I had tipped him already. So here's John doing one of these :confused3 When John got back to the room I told him that I borrowed money from some strangers on the elevator :rotfl: Karen's poor daughter - already thinks Michigan is a foreign country, now she meets people from Michigan in the elevator and her dad is giving them money! :rotfl:

I didn't know that you were a Christmas baby. My brother and his wife are expecting, and they are due on Christmas day.

Every always thought I got ripped off for having a Christmas Bday.....My answer to them, is that it's always been my bday, and I don't know what it's like to have a bday any other time of the year! My parents always did a great job keeping bday stuff separate from Christmas stuff though. And don't you dare EVER send me one of those cheap "Happy Christmas Birthday" cards! :rotfl2:

I have a friend whose daughter was born on Christmas. They would always open presents as a family on Christmas Eve to keep her birthday special. And there would always be two birthday cakes....one for the daughter and one for Jesus. They would light the candles and put Jesus' cake out on the porch so He could blow out the candles. (Sometimes, if it wasn't windy, Jesus would need a little help.) ;)

OK, I am on page 5. I wanna go; we will make an effort. I wonder if they will do anything special for Ian...

Must read this thread and comment further...

MarkRG, WE ARE IN at this point...

:jumping2:

David, see you found the thread.........do you think you guys might need a nanny to go along? :rolleyes1
