So would I get mother of the year if I give my family Julia's birthday cake for breakfast? Emma suggested it and Bruce was all to happy to chime in. Now they are all saying Cake Cake Cake. I don't think I'll win this battle, and it is a special day, plus cake has some nutritional value.

Anyone ever see that Bill Cosby routine--Dad is great, he gives us chocolate cake. That's my DH.

Haven't you ever hear to not fight with your kids about eating? Dessert first is a good thing, once in a while. Give them the cake and then go for a mid-morning snack of fruit and all is good!

I wonder if I could sell that idea to my State Food Program?

Speaking of....Mike used to eat one of those Slimfast meal bars every morning for breakfast.....and then we started comparing the nutritional label to that of poptarts. Ya know, there really wasn't much of a difference!!!! Seriously. If memory serves me correctly, the poptart was a bit higher in sugars, but other than that they were pretty darn close.

And poptarts are cheaper!

That's funny because during there's so many things that are marketed as "healthy" that have the same nutritional value as junk. Like that flavored vitamin water, I saw that with some brands, you'd be better off just having a coke.

We had cake for breakfast. The kids loved it. They don't usually get pop tarts or sugared cereal for breakfast. They get them but I usually get them for mid-morning snack. You are right, they will remember cake for breakfast as a good thing and could care less if they have pancakes and waffles like the do any other day.

Now I can sleep better tonight Do you ever have things that you just can't figure out that bother you until you do? And, then you scratch your head and wonder why they were so important??

Well, we're heading out to an apple festival later on, so I see some fruit in their future!

I have to say, my girls are wonderful eaters, especially when it comes to fruits and vegetables, I don't even have to disguise with cheese and sauces. I walked past bananas in the grocery store and Julia threw a full fleged kicking and scream temper tantrum because I didn't buy them. Emma can sit down with a bowl of lima beans and eat them all. I don't eat veggies at all so it amazes me what they'll eat!

Put her with Walker for dinner anytime (how about on the cruise ). Walker also loves any type of beans -- kidney beans, lima beans, butter beans, any & all.

Walker also loves the yolk of hard boiled eggs. My BIL always says he's going to take him into a bar and have guys place bets on how many he'll eat. Loves, loves, loves them.

I know several familes who give their cards and gifts at breakfast INCLUDING cake on birthdays!

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Tip Of The Day

Lunch on boarding day is held in two places. Parrot Cay on deck 3 or Beach Blanket Bufft on deck 9. They serve exactly the same thing so the choice is yours if you want to eat outside or inside.

What a great tip of the day! We have always gon to Parrot Cay because we like the atmosphere there, but I agree if the kids want to swim, deck 9 is the place to be!

Boy, it's been years since I've posted on DIS (Feb 2004 to be exact)! So I'm starting back at square one!

Anyhoo...a suggestion. Would anyone like to start contributing DVC trivia, sorta like a study group? Over the next couple weeks, everyone could submit any DVC trivia they know. I would then compile all the info into a "cheat sheet". Then, around Oct 14-15th, everyone could print it out and be ready to sweep all the prizes at the DVC trivia contest!

I'll volunteer to keep a running document of any DVC trivia info that anyone wants to send me. Anything you can think of, such as DVC resort opening dates, number of rooms per resort, resort name changes, themes, etc.
You can PM your info to me, or post it here on the thread (a good way to clock up more messages in search of the elusive 20,000 message goal).

Go for it!!! Its only one day out of the year and its a special day for her...they may be climbing the walls later on a sugar rush, but its early enough for them to run it off.

Nice try Cindy, but some how I just don't think that would work...My girls hate the fact at their day care makes them take a little of everything they serve and try it...They serve 1 vegetable, 1 meat, milk, usually some kind of bread, and fruit...My girls are a little fussy on their eating, and Kryssy doesnt like vegetables much, and Haylee doesnt like many meats...so its a little hard on them, but I tell them that it does them good to try new things.
