Oh, it was a story in itself.
Let's just start by saying I bet she never makes that mistake again.
When I took the kids in August, we stayed at VWL. We had no problem coming through the guard shack, most guards looked to see we had a valid parking pass and waved us through with a smile. Then one afternoon, it was raining Mickey & Minnies (can you imagine, we have cats & dogs here

) and I pulled up to the guard shack. Instead of waving us through, she came out and asked for my drivers license and/or room key. I said and pointed that I had a parking pass in my windshield but she was adament, I needed to prove we were staying there. When I finally dug it out and was soaked myself from the rain, she pointed to the other lane, telling me I could go through that lane in the future with my room key, rolled her eyes at me, turned her back on me and muttered "welcome home".
When we got into the lobby, I sent the kids to the arcade and spoke to a manager. I could understand it if it was the norm to be asked to prove I stayed at the resort, but this wasn't the case. Even the manager said they always use the parking pass unless it's late at night. I can fully understand that. I truly think that I ticked the guard off by pulling up and having her have to come out of the guard shack in the rain, and she was trying to make me pay for it.
When we got home, I also wrote a letter to guest services and had a long conversation with a cast member who took the time to call me and apologize for her actions.
It was less than a perfect Disney moment.
