BAD, BAD storms coming through Chicago.

We spent the last hour barrelled down for tornados. Very, very scary. Power went out and sirens were wailing.

Last I heard they were heading towards Mark & Mary.

Looks like we're missing Monsters on Ice. Roads are flooded in my area from what one of my daycare parents told me.

Hope everyone is safe. pixiedust:

Cindy - I hope everyone is safe. Sorry you missed Monsters on Ice. I used to enjoy Shawn and Mom days when he was young.

Double sleeping bags, Stacy! And, they have these feet warmer things at Walmart that you can toss into the bottom of your sleeping bag to help make you toasty.

And, sleep with a hat on -- it's suppose to help a lot. At least that's what Cameron was told when he camped out in his first Boy Scout campout in the below zero temps.

Have fun!

Thanks for the advice. I slept in one of those mummy sleeping bags thats rated to 20 degrees. Jeff order himself a new sleeping bag that showed up today. He can't wait till next weekend to use it at Scouts Fall Camporee.

Ok, I have to share this on this thread too, because you guys are all the voices of reason.....is this odd to you? Or am I just too practical????

Ok, I thought I saw bizarre gift registries for the last wedding we went to, but this one is just odd.

My nephew (26yrs old) is getting married in December (we'll be at WDW.)
They registered at Sears and Target.
Their Sears registry includes towels, bathroom stuff and a bunch of stuff from the automotive department (motorcycle/ATV jack, tools, foam mats for the floor, etc) Their Target registry includes some household stuff AND candy corn (about 12 bags in different flavors,) board games, a box of Pamprin, and an ant farm. :confused3 :confused3:confused3

I told Mike I might just get them 10 bags of candy corn and call it done!!

Ok that is a bit odd. I would probably be thinking the same thing.

I don't know about everyone else, but my kid LOVES sugar!:rotfl:

My wacky child eats it straight from the packet. When I'm not looking of course.

Oh I wonder if Dad would go for new Marketing photos - :rotfl:

Anything to help Julie. Heck it might be kind of cool to be part of a sales promotion or ad! :smokin:

LOL I can already see it now "Attn lifeguards (the offiical ones people not me) we have reason to believe there will be 7 women and 1 man with a large group of other cruisers taking over sections of the beach and drinking trays of Konk Koolers - do not, I repeat do not approach them without a specialty drink!"
:rotfl2:

Ok that is just freakin' funny!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

We'll be filming episode 1 of "Jeffrey's Diabetic Angels".

Curt, you can be the police officer ::cop: bringing trays of Konk Koolers while I say my signature line of 'My name is Jeffrey and these are my girls'. :smooth:

I love it!!!! I just hope it's not on at the same time as any of the other shows I love to watch!! :rotfl2:

I was a fan of ER from the very beginning and loved Dr. Carter. They lost me during the season where Dr. Green was dying. Just haven't watched much since they.

Missed CSI last season (can't remember what I was watching against it but I know I didn't watch it). Watched it last night and liked the subtle exchange between Sara and Grissom (I had read about the ending here on the DIS). It was so sad to see Katherine go through all that. I would have put my clothes on and ran. To have to take all the evidence on yourself - so sad.

That was the season that I stopped watching ER. I haven't made the time or seen the commercial to draw me in to watch it since then.

I won't eat at Burger King because of a bad experience, but mine wasn't food related. Someone was being funny and wrote F*** You on my Chicken Sandwich wrapper. I wasn't laughing and haven't been back since.

I'm not eligible because I live in NY!!! :furious: It's a chicken conspiracy I tell you!!

Diana,
It is not your week for chicken, beef, pork or fish tomorrow??
Sorry for all of you nasty fly ridden, raw chicken mishaps.

Wow, you are the woman!! Through gall stone pain and all you found the song!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
I hope you feel better soon. I had my gall bladder out 2 weeks after DS was born. I agree that if you are in too much pain, go to the ER instead of waiting for the planned surgery. I went to the ER with my gall bladder pain, it just took them 2 days to figure out it was my gall bladder causing the pain!
Good luck

Speaking of winning, turns out Ian won a drawing at Little Gym last week during their 30th birthday celebration. We found out this week when we arrived and picked up his prize on the way out, a $20 gift card to Starbucks. Hmmm, do you think 21 months is too early to start a caffeine habit?

Ok that one just boggles the brain!

Wasn't her name Kem? Thanks to this thread at least I know what I missed on ER last night. I taped it downstairs while taping Six Degrees upstairs. When I went to play it this morning before work I realized there was no sound recorded. Ugh. I must look into TiVo. I hope it's easy to use.

Go for the TIVO!! MY DH was always trying to convince me we should get it. I thought, we don't need that. Now that I have it I can't imagine not having it anymore. Go for it!!! You will love it! Never miss a show and fast forward through the commercials!

We use Dish Network and their "TIVO" is called a DVR. It is so easy my 9 year old operates it!:happytv:

Oh yeah, mine is DirecTV. My 7 year old knows how to record shows and find the shows that are recorded. Very easy. You can set up a season pass to get every show (first runs and/or reruns) or if your watching a show and have to go out, push the record button - it's that easy!

So it looks like it's going to be one of those days. :headache: Julia still has a cough. It's not really a nasty cough, it's just annoying to her. She's not really been hacking, so were going to the Y. We're all dressed, eating breakfast, bag packed for the day. I run to grab my pants to put in my gym bag and Julia starts coughing and throws up all over the place. :crazy2: So I couldn't go to the Y and had a big mess not to mention a kid to throw in the tub. :crazy2: She's totally fine, I guess it was from coughing but they're now both crying because we aren't going to the Y. :headache: :confused3

Oh I've been there too.
I hope she's feeling a bit better now.

Well it is ER but I hope not since Dr. Carter's baby died. I was on pins and needles the entire time. But I do feel that those of us who have not given birth should have been WARNED about the GROSS stuff they were going to show. Plus we were eating pizza :scared:  which was not a good idea!

I was cracking up hysterical when I read your post.
Maybe you should watch the Discovery Health Cannel a little more so you won't get caught off gaurd with such thing.

I was really surprised when Walker said he wanted to go. He went in the spring to see the Incredibles with a friend and enjoyed it. I'm hoping he likes this as much.

It's Mommy/Walker weekend as Gary & Cameron are off camping this weekend with Boy Scouts.

Walker has soccer at 5 & then we are off to a 7 p.m. performance.

Walker & I are selling Cub Scout popcorn tomorrow morning outside the grocery store. Is anyone interested in any? If not, maybe you'd be more interested in a pine wreath that Cameron's selling for Boy Scouts. It never stops around here.

Thanks but I'll pass on the popcorn. We're selling it here too. So far he has around $200 in orders.
Last year Nick sold around $330 or $350 and earned $110 to use in the scout store or for camp. We used it towards summer camp and it paid for 50%. Not to bad.

First ya gotta know I hate all you scrapbookers for doing this to me...I did NOT need another hobby, LOL :confused3
I've gone a bought the cheapie starter kit from AC. It was black and well ya know how that brings on Mickey ideas so......ya got me!

YEA!!!!!! And SORRY!!
I hope you do enjoy doing it though. When I started I thought, oh I just need a thing or two and I can do my scrapbook, then I became a little crazy. Plus they make SO MANY cool things for scrapbookers now a days.

OK. Once again, I'm coming to my friends for advice. What do I do? Here's the story....

Earlier in the week, I had to run out as soon as Bruce got home so he called from the car and I told him to just grab some Wendy's. It's right around the block. So he comes home and gives me my standard Spicy Chicken Sandwich, no mayo, no tomato. Because I'm a freak, and the people that work at Wendy's are morons, I always check my sandwich for mayo :crazy2: before I bite in. I opened up the bun and there was a dead fly lying there. :faint: Alrighty, trash...appetite lost, no dinner.

So today, Julia was totally fine after she brushed her teeth so we packed up and went to the mall. I'm prefacing this by saying--different Wendy's, different town. Stop for lunch, grab Wendy's. Open the Spicy Chicken Sandwich to inspect for mayo---all clear. :thumbsup2 Bite. Raw chicken. :crazy2: You know when your teeth break the surface of a chicken sandwich and you can feel the moist oil laden chicken. Nope--raw. Not frozen, but definitely no where near cooked. Now I have raw chicken in my mouth. :crazy2: :scared: :faint: The same mouth that almost ate a fly earlier in the week.

So, OK, lesson learned....no more Wendy's in any town for me. I mean what are the chances. It wasn't like it didn't taste good, it wasn't even edible. I didn't go back with the fly, didn't call, didn't keep it. I thought it was a fluke. I didn't go back with the raw chicken, was too grossed out and holding back the vomit, I just wanted to get home and sterilize my mouth. I'm going to try to call Corporate Wendys and tell them my nasty tale because really on the local level I don't think they care. Should I send a written complaint to the department of health or something? I mean---that's just nasty!!!

ETA--I called Wendy's while typing this and the stupid voice message goes round and round and you can't get a person. Now it's telling me they close at 5. :badpc: Now there's a seriously nasty letter in their future. If I have to go through the trouble of typing the letter--I'm cc'ing everyone and their mother!!

Ok let me start by saying GROSS!!!

I might have thought the fly thing was a fluke but I think no matter how gross the raw chicken was I'd be up in that managers face asap!

Isn't there a website were you can see if a place has passed or failed recent health dept inspections? I thought I heard or read about something like that.
