I was just glad he was crossing over becasue at one point he said he didn't want to do Boy Scouts.

I admit it, I was not excited for Cameron to go to Boy Scouts. I was more excited that I was done being a leader. Cameron begrudgingly decided to go on to Boy Scouts on a 6 month trial basis because one of the Dad's pursuaded him. 6 months ends about now and I'm very certain that Cameron is hooked so it was a good move.

I felt that Mother pride though when during both his Courts of Honor when he received his merit badges. And, I definately was SO proud of him last week when we did the parade cleanup and he was telling me to take a break.

I do have an update of that situation with our Scoutmaster --- he had no idea that we were actually bagging the garbage and truly thought that all we had to do was toss it into the street for the streetsweeper to clean up. So, two things he was working on. One was trying to change the scheduling of the streetsweepers for next year. And, the other was the request the boys who ran ahead of us to come back next year and do their full time committment and effort.

Walker has his first soccer game in about 3 hours and it's pouring here. :umbrella: I told him since he can't use his hands during the game, they'll all look funny out there with their :umbrella: And, if he's goalie, then he'll have to wear his :mickeyjum poncho. Man, those are ponchos are getting a lot of use this past week. :) Almost like getting a Disney fix here at home.

I packed our first suitcase for the cruise yesterday. I was cleaning up our bedroom and although it's not packed entirely, I put everything in there that was ready to go. It's really starting to feel real now. :cool1:

In honor of our 6 week mark I think it is time for another round of GTKYKFC SSMC06 edition:

This years theme is Celebrating Magical Milestones so tell us about your first time at each of the following that apply (including how old you were, who you were with, where you stayed and best memory of that trip).

1. Disneyland

2. Walt Disney World

3. Disney Vacation Club (first stay as a member)

4. Disney Cruise Line

5. Tokyo Disneyland

6. Disneyland Paris

7. Hong Kong Disneyland

1. Disneyland - first time was in Fall of 1979. I had taken a trip out by myself to Southern California. I stayed at the Universal Sheraton (next to Universal Studios) and took a day trip to Disneyland. I had only been to WDW about 2 times at this point and I was entranced by Disneyland. Back then the sky buckets were still working and went through the Matterhorn. I also remember there was this fun little shop over by Pirates called the one of a kind shop. Very unique items and I got a pair of gold plated owls there (I was a big collector of owls back then.

2. Walt Disney World - first time was in the Fall of 1976. I was 19 years old and made the trip with my Mom. We stayed at the Howard Johnson's in Luke Buena Village. Back then it was only the Magic Kingdom and when we walked in the first time my Mom started crying. She had said that when I was very little and Disneyland was the big popular thing she never thought she'd ever be able to take my Brother or I as she was a single Mom. Yet here she was. As for memories - oh so many. I think I took about 100 pictures of the castle alone. We also went to Treasure Island (as it was called then - later changed to Discovery Island and now sadly closed).

3. Disney Vacation Club (first stay as a member) - our first trip as Members was December of 2000 with Mark. We had just purchased in January and booked a one bedroom at our Boardwalk home. When we got to our room we were thrilled to see we had a Boardwalk view (this was back before you could be guranteed with a Boardwalk booking). Best of all the balcony was decorated with large swags of lights for the holidays. It was magical!

4. Disney Cruise Line My Mom died in October of 1997. After we had her estate settled I wanted to do something special for my in-laws to thank them for all they did for her. Mark and I orignally had planned Hawaii but my MIL had surgery on her ears and the doctor didn't want her in the air for that long so my FIL said what about a Disney Cruise. This was in 1999 when the Magic was the only ship. We did a land/sea package. 4 days at Beach Club followed by a 3 night cruise. I didn't know about the DIS so went in pretty blind to what to expect on the ship and we were in awe. Especially when we went over the bridge and saw the ship for the first time. I remember a quartet singing as we boarded and I also remember really wanting our picture taken with Captain Mickey. We were in a Cat 5 up on deck 7 mid-ship. It was a great cruise and got Mark hooked on cruising and me re-hooked (I had cruised about 9 times before in the late 70's/early 80's.

1. Disneyland
This is easy I was 34: My first visit to disneyland was Dec 2005.
We stayed near the LAX airport. ( Bad decision - Stay on site)
We met up with Mark and Mary. My best memory is Todd trying to get pictures of all the 50's for the happiest celebration.

2. Walt Disney World
I think I was 14/15. I recall going with my cousin and my parents.
I remember Epcot was just opening.

3. Disney Vacation Club (first stay as a member)
Boardwalk villas in 2000: I was with my mom and Todd. We went in August, my cousin and my aunt and uncle went too.

4. Disney Cruise Line
2003 I was on the first member cruise and it was my first cruise. Todd and I went some of my fellow cruisers from this thread.

1. Disneyland I was there in 1976 at 16 with my parents. Stayed with my uncle near LA and my fave memory is riding POTC for the first time and 20,000 Leagues ride

2. Walt Disney World 1987 27 y/o Coleen and I took our kids there for the first time. Stayed offsite (never gonna do that again!) Fave memory is our son being completely terrified of Space Mountain

3. Disney Vacation Club (first stay as a member) December 2000. 40 y/o With my wonderful wife. We stayed at OKW and then a few days at VB. Fave memory Our last day at VB we woke up to 67 degrees and the sound of waves outside our verandah and since we drove, we spent that night in Ashville NC and woke up the next morning to 27 degrees and 5 inches of snow

4. Disney Cruise Line May of 2000 40 y/o Coleen and I did a 4 day cruise on the Magic and shared a table with DVC members who then TOTALLY convinced us to join! So we did. I think when Tink sprinkled PD on the front of the ship during Disney Dreams and the lighted ceiling lit up was the most memorable part of a Magical cruise shared with my lovely wife!

5. Tokyo Disneyland N/A

6. Disneyland Paris N/A

7. Hong Kong Disneyland N/A [/QUOTE]

BB Update - the jury members had their time to question the 2 finalists last night and everyone was mentioned when Boogie and Erika recapped the questions (including Will, Danielle and Janelle).

I'm sure someone has hijacked your DIS account, because this CAN'T be Julie reading the spoilers!!!! :lmao:

1. Disneyland Never been

2. Walt Disney World 1975 for the bicentennial celebration, I was 3, my brother was maybe 6 months old. We stayed at the Contemporary with a view of the Castle, we were there for an orthodontist convention, with my parents grandmother and her male companion, the orthodontist :rotfl: Not a "best" memory, but I remember this as clear as day--we were on the balcony of our room and the Electric Water Pageant came by....I freaked out because there was a giant dragon in the water and wouldn't step foot near the water or pool that trip. :rotfl2:

3. Disney Vacation Club (first stay as a member) SSM03 pregnant with Emma! We bought in June 2002 when we got married and in August got the invite for the cruise that February. We booked with my friend from work and her DH. We stayed 2 nights at BCV post cruise.

4. Disney Cruise Line June 2002, yup, if you're keeping track I was on the Wonder twice within an 9 month period! Our honeymoon. We got a free upgrade at the port from cat 11 to cat 8 and it was the worst experience ever because turns out, I get seasick when I see the ocean. From that cruise, it's inside rooms only for me, but I keep coming back for more!

5. Tokyo Disneyland Never been

6. Disneyland Paris Never been

7. Hong Kong Disneyland Never been

1. Disneyland - 1995 right after college graduation I took my sister to California just the two of us and we spent one day at Disneyland.

2. Walt Disney World - 1978 or 1979 I was 6 or 7 and Amy 3 or 4. We stayed at Fort Wilderness in my grandparents RV (they didn't go thou) and did the Magic Kingdom and River Country. I don't think any other parks were open way back then. I don't remember a ton but the photos are cool. I do remember that my dad conned my sister and I on Big Thunder by telling us it was a choo choo train. I rode with him and did NOT like it so I grabbed his leg and he had hand prints from me. My sister liked it but said "Dad that is not a choo choo train". :rotfl:

3. Disney Vacation Club (first stay as a member) - December 2004 at Saratoga Springs, our home resort. We stayed one night before moving to the Boardwalk on cash (no idea why we did that)

4. Disney Cruise Line - SSMC05 was both of our first trips on a DCL ship!

5. Tokyo Disneyland - haven't been

6. Disneyland Paris - haven't been but it's possible if we stay on the Med cruise

7. Hong Kong Disneyland - haven't been

Good Morning All!

Check your Travel Channel schedule. Having about 3 hours of Disney related shows today! Our DVR is set!

1. Disneyland -- 1975, I was in 8th grade and we stopped on our way back from Hawaii. I remember riding It's a Small World with my 1 year old neice over and over and over again. It truly was enough for a lifetime.

2. Walt Disney World -- 1976, we stopped on our way back from Jamaica. We stayed at the Contemporary, first floor as my Mom did not do elevators. The only park was the MK and we stayed for an entire week! :confused3 My sister and her daughter were with us again. I remember my neice sleeping in those old metal strollers with the blue seats/sun canopy. Cameron sat in one of those same style strollers our first trip there with him. :rotfl2: They were awful!

3. Disney Vacation Club (first stay as a member) -- Hilton Head, July, 2001. We bought in Sept, 2000 and didn't want to go back to WDW. So we thought we'd try something different. We fell in love with it and added on the second day we were there.

4. Disney Cruise Line -- SSMC05. We always wanted to cruise but I was very intimidated by the entire idea. But, I had seen Mary's scrapbook of SSMC03 at a Chicago DIS meet the year before and said if they ever did another member cruise, I was going to be on it.

5. Tokyo Disneyland -- have not been

6. Disneyland Paris -- have not been yet but we're tossing around the idea.

7. Hong Kong Disneyland -- have not been

1. Disneyland I went to Disneyland the first time in 1986, when my kids were 7 and 8. We went to visit my sister and her family who lived in Canyon Lake. And then we went back this year when her oldest son got married!

2. Walt Disney World: My family went to WDW in Oct. 1971. We stayed at the Contemporary. I was 17 and my sister was 14 and we had the run of the place! There were 4 kids inour family and we all drove down with my parents in our car.
3. Disney Vacation Club (first stay as a member): We bought in 2000 at Hilton Head and we stayed there right away.

4. Disney Cruise Line: 2004 we went on a 4 day on the Wonder
5. Tokyo Disneyland Not been here, but my 27 y/o DS would love to go!

6. Disneyland Paris: not been
7. Hong Kong Disneyland: not been

1. Disneyland - 1978 (I was 8). Family Trip. Stayed with an aunt and uncle. We went to DL for 1 day. This was when DL was ticketed and space mountain had just opened. My favorite ride was IASW (still is today).

2. Walt Disney World - 1989 (I was 19). DH and I lived in NC and we drove to FL for the labor day weekend. Did not realize how long a drive it actually was. We stayed with some friends and went to WDW one day. Did not go to Epcot. Saw signs for the building of MGM.

3. Disney Vacation Club (first stay as a member)-Our first DVC stay was actually HHI. We were able to get a 2 bedroom @ the 7 month window. HAd no idea at the time how lucky I was getting that ressie. We stayed @ HHI in July 2003. We had some old friends from NC meet us and we had a great vacation with them. They have been the most appreciative because they don't usually vacation because they cannot afford to. They have been our best guests to this date.

4. Disney Cruise Line -September 2002. DH was on sabattical from work. We had gone on a Hawaiian cruise and decided to do a Disney cruise too. This is where we heard of DVC for the first time. They were selling BCV at the time and we really wanted OKW. Ate lunch with some DVCers and they talked us into looking at resale. We headed up to the computers and decided that we would go resale. Came home and made an offer within two weeks. We closed on our resale by November 2002 and made two different ressies within a month. We thought 300 points would last us awhile. Ya right! We have added on twice already!

I'm so glad that Nick crossed over because he is not really into sports so this was an ectivity he could do plus I believe in the Boy Scout program and how a well rounded young man comes out in the end. Plus those that make Eagle Scout are truly motivated it will get far in life.
Nick loved summer camp, plus Jeff & I had a good time at camp too.
When we got the information about his class overnight trip that will be at the same place that we camped at for Spring camporee Nick was like "this will be easy". I thought so too since the outline I received of what they will be doing sound just like Spring camporee.

It's unfortunate about the misunderstanding of the garbage cleanup. At least the Scoutmaster was made aware of it to hopefully avoid such confusion in the future.
I'm glad he is also going to have the other boys "make-up" what they were supposed to do.

Good luck to Walker today. Hopefully the soccer game goes ok today.
Sending ome sunshine your way! :sunny:

Would you BB fans please post the spoiler address? My neighbour is a huge fan and is driving me crazy with her speculation, lack of patience waiting etc.

Perhaps this will keep her busy until Tuesday. However, turnabout is fair play and I keep reminding her that 6 wks until my cruise--nah nah nah.
