I have been working on our magnets too!!!!

I have a few generic ones and planning on some more creative ones.

It is a quiet day here. The boys went to Cedar Point for the day. I will try and be in chat tonight, Mary.

1. Disneyland -- I think my first trip was in 1967 when I was 8 years old. While it wasn't a great memory, the only one I really have is of my dad trying to get me to take my picture with Grumpy. I didn't want to. If it had been any other dwarf, I would have done it, but I didn't want my picture taken with the Grumpy one! I don't know where we stayed.
Ken's first trip to Disneyland was on our honeymoon. We stayed there for two days at the Disneyland Hotel. He didn't want to go because he thought it would just be like another Six Flags, but when he walked in and saw it for the first time, he was like a little kid again! My favorite memory of that time is taking his picture while he was riding the carosel!

2. Walt Disney World -- Our first triip to WDW was in 1986 and we stayed at The Disney Inn (now Shades of Green.)Strangely, I think my favorite memory is coming back to the hotel in the afternoon and playing with the girls in the pool. It was easily the nicest pool we'd ever been in at the time. Also, it was the first and only time we got to ride 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

3. Disney Vacation Club (first stay as a member) -- It was a split stay--4 days at VWL and 6 days at BWV in July 2002. There were 8 of us, 6 adults and 2 teenagers, in a 2 BR. (Yes, it can be done! :thumbsup2 ) It was especially fun because we were there on July 4th and we got to see the special fireworks. We were still there when our anniversary rolled around and Ken and I got to spend the entire day without any of the others. We had a special dinner at Rose and Crown with a patio view of Illuminations.

4. Disney Cruise Line -- SSMCO5 with my sister, Emily. I kind of lurked and followed the SSMC03 thread, and when DVC announced the 2nd cruise, I told Ken I was going to go and if he didn't want to go with me, I was going to ask my sister. He said he didn't think it was worth it for just 4 days. When I got home, I couldn't stop talking about it, so guess who's going with me this time??? :teeth: I'd have to say my favorite memory was getting to meet some of the other DISers face to face, especially Cindy at the life boat drill!

5. Tokyo Disneyland -- Haven't been here, but would love to go someday, especially since we had a Japanese exchange student in 2000 and it might give us a chance to reconnect with her.

6. Disneyland Paris -- Haven't been

7. Hong Kong Disneyland -- Haven't been

I am finally getting certified for Scuba. Back in June, I decided to get my Scuba certification (PADI open diver)

I purchased my basic equipment, the book and DVDs and set up a weekend for the classroom and pool work.

Had to cancel...3 different times due to scheduling issues, illness, etc.

FINALLY....was able to get in this weekend. Did my classroom work....got 100% on the first 4 quizzes, and a 94% on the final test (I questioned two of my answers and changed them.....and should have left them...duh)

Spent all yesterday afternoon and today in the pool....REALLY fun...

I just have to do 4 open water dives and I will be certified! I will be off work on Tuesday and am setting up 2 open dives for then..... I want to see if I can schedule my 3rd and 4th for Saturday.

I can't wait to get into open water......what a fun hobby.....how come all the hobbies I like are so expensive????

In honor of our 6 week mark I think it is time for another round of GTKYKFC SSMC06 edition:

1. Disneyland: As a couple Karen and I haven't made it out to the birthplace of the Mouse. As for myself, well... When I was in 12, my father announced that I would be going with him to California while he attended a convention. Boy was my sister PEEVED.:furious: For a week he gave me $20 and an E ticket; I was not to leave the park, but Disneyland was my playground. The best story of the whole trip was my sister informed my mother that she would DISOWN me if I came off the plane wearing Mouskaears. Sure enough there I was walking down the jetway... (I think it was a purple cap).

2. Walt Disney World: Karen and I have (had) a list of vacation locations where we always to visit. Second or third on the list was WDW. In 2002 we booked a May vacation with our local travel agent for a week at the Grosvner. With the majority of the interior walls painted pastel pink we immediately dubbed it the Pepto Palace. On the last day of that visit that Karen and I stopped at a DVC kiosk and took the plunge.

3. Disney Vacation Club (first stay as a member): Our first stay as members came in February 03 when we went to Vero for our anniversary. A very nice respite from the hustle and bustle of WDW. We had a very relaxing anniversary and an awsome time in the Sandcastle pool.

4. Disney Cruise Line: Our first cruise was a four night to Nassau with a close friend of ours as a birthday present. It really got us hooked an the luxury of cruising.

5. Tokyo Disneyland: Not on list of things to do.

6. Disneyland Paris: Not on list of things to do.

7. Hong Kong Disneyland: Not on list of things to do.

Last year we called the cruise the TZ (or twilight zone) cruise because of all the things we had in common. Like the fact that we had Ann Marie and Tom and Annmarie and Tom who both had BCV in their screen names.

This year it is kind of like the "near miss" cruise. I wonder how many other times we've been at the parks etc. together but just never knew it.

Karen and I were at the Member Homecoming and the Saratoga opening. RIP DeeVee Cee. (Many well wishes for the actress and her new(born?) child!!) I think we still have the bottle of water around here somewhere. Near Miss!

Welcome to the underwater world Kevin. I've only done 10 or 11 dives but I remember each one, the latest being the DiveQuest tank dive. If given the opportunity - DO NOT HESITATE. Book and do not cancel. It's only a tank dive but one my most memorable moments underwater. I have the video on my laptop and wil of course play it if you are interested. (I like having the logo in my sig too.)

Be patient my friends from the Empire. I have no doubt that the prize will be awarded quickly, it not rocket science here! (Clue:.... {I was going to post a clue but Karen says, NO.}

We were also at Member Homecoming! (this was when I was still shy and didn't post much on this board) We were with the same couple we went on SSMC03 with, only this time, we had baby Emma with us (8 months old) and I was quite pregnant with Julia. So if you were sitting on a bench by Mission Space the night at Epcot, chances are you sat by me at some point! :rotfl2: Or if you waited in line for the Artists drawings near Ariel's Grotto, you were probably near me too! That was a great opportunity for gigantic me to get off my feet and watch those guys draw--I could do that for hours.

I'll be in chat tonight---I have some Teas that need drinking. :drinking1

Definitely one of the dives I want to do. I figure I won't tell the kids, and have my wife be in an area where they can see me, and surprise the kids being in the tank (If they are in Coral Reef, would they be able to see me?)

I would love to see the video.

BEST part of the dive was "messing" with the kids in the Coral Reef. Come in from above. There is a "lip" around the windows to pull yourself down into view. It really blows their minds. I had one of the proverbial George Carlin moments for the class clown. (Somebody figure that reference out!!:happytv: )

They would definately be able to see you from Coral Reef (as Curt has shown). Last time we ate there one of the divers came right up to the table next to us and held up a sign that said Happy Birthday. I'm guessing it was the Father of the Mother and kids eating there and it was one of their birthdays. Very Cute!

Us three!
We were at Member homecoming with my parents and family friends.
I don't know if anyone remembers a boy trying to get Goofy's autograph in front of Mission Space that night but Goofy was dancing around and Nick was trying to dance and not doing a very good job at it.
It was pretty funny.
We did love that people left early the night at Epcot so we were on Test Track for an hour. We just kept going around and around and around. It was pretty awesome. Then to walk back to the Boardwalk at midnight with no one in the park except a few cast members who made sure we didn't "get lost" on our way home. :rotfl:

So all you who came to Member Homecoming - did any of you come to the DIS meet at the Land? I know Gail & John, Cheryl & Todd, and Mary and Karen did. Anyone else?

Member Gallery Update:

Heard from another Member Cruiser. Come meet Michelle (aka MLC), her DH Dave, DD Daniella and Disney Grandpa Jerry. Welcome aboard!

Not me, I'm much too shy to meet people from the internet!

Eh--that excuse doesn't fly anymore b/c most of you know I met Bruce online AND I'm one of the more active posters on this thread. :lmao:
