Member Gallery Update!

First off my apologies since I received both of these a while ago and just didn't get them updated. The Member Gallery has been updated with the following cruisers:

Rose (aka sock68) says she doesn't post much and is traveling with Janet and Sue. Rose we hope you post more so we can all get to know you!

Hope (aka tn4mickey) is traveling with her DH Duane (who just celebrated a birthday on 7/13 - happy belated birthday Duane.

As we are getting closer and closer to the cruise nows a good time to encourage anyone else who hasn't given us their info to send it in. Right now we have 41 families and we are making 98 buttons. Are we missing you???????

A caravan would be COOL!:cool1:

We are planning on driving to the new M & M store before we head to the Port. DD doesn't know yet. She will be very surprised:teeth:
OOohhhh, it's a really cool store, you'll love it! I don't know what time you were planning on going to the port, but I would definitely check the hours of the M&M store. Because it's a Sunday, they might not be open until 11 or 12.

Edited: Ooooooppps! Didn't realize that Mary already addressed the time issue. We actually missed Mark & Mary by minutes in the M&M store when they were down in May.

Isn't that cool? And, without the DIS, we'd probably pass in the hall and never even know each other. :cool1:

I think it's great to see everyone wearing the buttons. It's such an easy ice breaker -- even for those of us who are on the shy side.

I admit it. I am a lurker. I've managed to keep up with the thread by only not replying I think. I am looking forward to the cruise. I am traveling with my sister as we did last year and a friend of hers is joining us as well. They met a few years standing in line outside of Disney Store waiting for pins to be released. And some people say Disney doesn't form friendships. I will try to better at posting. We are flying in on Friday and meeting up with a group from an email loop I am in. Hi Debbie. I hope to make the Saturday with this group too. I will try to post more but know better than to promise.

I agree but you know we have half of the DISers we had last time. On the 2005 cruise we had 74 families and made 205 buttons. So are there less DISers going or just less posting. :confused3

Hi Rose

If I remember correctly, you were quite comfortable lurking last cruise as well. Maybe we'll draw you out more often. :thumbsup2

The M & M store? Is that short for Mark and Mary? :lmao:
You know, as a Mark and Mary stalker, I might be able to find some cool things there!!!! :lmao:

Lurking can be fun - it's also one way to get to know some of us here -

Here's my answers to the GTKYFK -

1) How are you getting to FL (fly, drive, already live there)? Driving

2) Are you planning on attending the Saturday afternoon DIS meet? Yup

3) How are you getting to the cruise (rental car, own car, Disney transportation)? Own car

4) How many days before the cruise are you getting in and are you doing WDW? 3 days - waitlisted for Thursday and yes

5) How many days after the cruise are you staying in the area and are you doing WDW? 3 days and yes, yes, yes

6) This one is for DVC if they are reading - do you hope the ship backs in, pulls in, or does it different each of the two days? just to be there will make me one happy gal!

It sure is quiet around here. I suppose everyone is figuring out their excursions!

I'm sure we are all going to get exactly what we are hoping to get. No pressure, Diana, no pressure. :rolleyes1 :hyper:

My turn!

1) How are you getting to FL (fly, drive, already live there)? Fly from Buffalo, SWA was ok priced but will look for better but anything is better than airfare from Toronto the taxes will kill you

2) Are you planning on attending the Saturday afternoon DIS meet? Sure but call me stupid where is it?

3) How are you getting to the cruise (rental car, own car, Disney transportation)? Rental car, unless some Prince Charming comes up with a better idea for the 4 of us

4) How many days before the cruise are you getting in and are you doing WDW? We'll get in early Friday, likely stay at the Swan and then tour some parks still not determined or maybe the water parks

5) How many days after the cruise are you staying in the area and are you doing WDW? We fly out on Sunday--doing MNSSHP on Thursday but nothing else planned at this time

6) This one is for DVC if they are reading - do you hope the ship backs in, pulls in, or does it different each of the two days? Would really like it to be different each time we dock.

I must get a digital picture to the site--we just got a digital camera and once my son gets his cast off (Aug 4--yippee) I will send in a picture of the family

Ugh. :headache:

You should see the very complex spreadsheet I've compiled with both of our reservations on it. I'm such an organized freak!!

I don't think I told you guys about the analysis I did comparing the cost of the Dining Plan vs getting a DDE card for our meal needs in October. If I showed you what I came up with, you guys wouldn't even want to be seen with a geek like me. :teacher:

Okay you don't have to show us, but what did you decide? I'm curious.

I know the kids and I won't do the dining plan in August, but I've thought about it for us for October. Of course, it doesn't really matter as we check in on Thursday and out on Friday. Not a lot of meal options for our 1 night.

And, why did you think I was asking you to do our excursions for us? I knew you'd do a fantastic job and you'd have it all figured out.

By the way, you are doing my bookings before yours, aren't you? :duck:

So what was the final results? Dining Plan or the DDE Card?

ROFL now that is the question of the day isn't it?

Thanks for the reminder to get my booty out of bed Sunday night and book the excursions. I'm off to see Mom and Dad this weekend so I probably won't be able to check in much if any. Guess I should have asked Diana to book ours too :rotfl2: just kidding Diana!

For us the DDE card was going to be the most economical route. What I did was, I went into each menu for each restaurant we are planning on eating at and got the cost of the meal. Then I added tax and tip to that.

The dining plan is a great deal for sure---but with us arriving at the hotel at noon on Friday and then leaving around 11 on Sunday morning, we were going to need to pay out of pocket for at least 2 meals on the pre-cruise part of the trip above and beyond the 2 CS and 2 TS we get. Then the post-cruise because we get there early on Thursday and don't leave until later Saturday afternoon, we ran into the same problem, cash for at least 2 meals. And of course I wanted to eat at more Table Service places than 4 during the 6 days we'll be there--that was the kicker.

Then, when taking my August trip into consideration, it was WAY cheaper for us to do get the DDE card over the Dining Plan.

Oh my goodness!! Could you imagine what a nutcase I'd be!!

My big plan is to get the laptop running and try my best to book them both at the same time. We'll see how successful that is and if Cindy and I get anything!

Annmarie,
I'm so glad you got on board with us for the Grand Gathering Fireworks cruise. There are 38 of us apparently. How many does the ship hold?
I've only done the poontoons, is this the yacht that they do from the
GF. I know we are leaving from the Contemporary so I'm just a bit confused.

Got all my dinner ressies for our upcoming trip in Aug. Got Thur nite at Tony's / Wishes, Fri nite at Rose and Crown 7pm / Illuminations and Sat nite Raglan Rd at 8pm / Entertainment. Wed nite I have to book Margaritaville at the request of my DD. Anyone been there?

Diana,
I do the spread sheet thing too. I have used the same template for the last 20 yrs probably. It works for me but what I have noticed over the years I got much less "comando" style and we always make sure we relax at the resort pools now...Age takes it's toll, LOL. I have one for the cruise too but it's been difficult to fill out with no communication from DCL.

Diana, we'll get some thing. ::yes:: We always have the banana boats if nothing else!

I was just kidding, you know. I fully expect you to take care of booking for you & your family before worrying about my family. I'm very happy and thankful that your going to do any for me.

Could you just see me off on Hilton Head trying to find a 24 hour internet cafe? :rotfl:

We have too!

The thing for us, with DVC, is we know we'll be back so there is no need to do it all in one trip. :thumbsup2
