Mary, thanks for the update on the magnets! That's great news. Before I left, one of the projects I was working on was the identification of Members sailing without using points. We were in the testing phase of determining Members via database comparisons and tests were successful up to that point. I'm thrilled to see that it's now in full practice.

When I designed and ordered the magnets for SSMC05, I ordered enough to be used for exactly what you experienced. The idea was to identify Members throughout the ship as away to encourage non-Members to ask Members about the magnet and about DVC. The legacy lives on! Thanks for the update.

We'll look for the other things you mentioned. Will hasn't experienced the pirate party before, so the whole thing will be new for him. pirate:

David :earsboy:

Hi David!

I'd have to day if anyone wanted to put one out from the last one, name written in the margin in Sharpie makes a reasonable deterrent, but with the ones identifying members being put out now, they'd be kind of redundant.

We always wear our DVC lanyards and I wear one of the 4 colors of hat I now have, and am always happy to chat about it with just about anyone. :)

Now, as for the Pirate party, it's been enhanced a lot by the addition of the Dumbotron(or as it's really called in the navs, the Ariel sky vision), as Mary said, and they've buffed up the show some since the last Member Cruise version. And watching PoC after the party was great, if a bit windy and cool from Deck 10, try to find a good spot on 9 first, if you can.

what's all this about a Pirate Party? Please fill me in. Do we need costumes?

Warmly,
Ilene

All this talk of the cruise sure makes it get exciting.

I am looking more forward as things start heating up. We got our cruise booklet today. That made it seem real. Then DH was reading and said Nassau and I said nope...So it somehow seemed a bit odd. We know we're not going to Nassau. Even though, we are looking forward to this more and more.

We received our mailing too - although we had quite a surprise as DVC or DCL (we don't know yet) has decided I have already changed my name to Matt's last name :dance3: ... while that's wonderful we are concerned as none of my docs (passport/dl etc) have been changed and since we get married AFTER the cruise we have no idea how this happened. Guess I will find out tomorrow when I call.

What is your name? Julie
Where do you live? Keller TX
Where were you born? Burlington, Ia
My favorite food is? Sterzing's Potato Chips
Last night for dinner I ate? Take out pizza
I hope to someday improve my ____? eating habits
Nobody knows that I _____? am engaged :rotfl2: just kidding
If I were going to the moon, I would take ____? Matt - who else to share that with?
The worst advice my mother or father ever gave me was ____? That my hair looked great the day it actually turned green on the tips due to swimming :furious:
The one thing I can't stand in people is _____? Bad attitudes

Any new experiences we should know about before we go?

Talk to you soon,

Not new, but a reminder that before you get up from having your Cabana Massage, make sure they close the windows!

Good morning everyone!

Ilene - the pirate party takes place starting at dinner. There is a special pirate menu and the servers are all dressed up. I'd say about 1/4 of the passengers dress up. It seemed on the last cruise that most of those that dressed up were DISer's.

After dinner there is a big deck part up on decks 9 & 10 which ends with fireworks. Something new on the Magic and it will be on the Wonder by the time we sail is the large TV or as we call it the Dumbotron. I think in the navigator they call it the Ariel View Screen. Anyway after the pirate party they played Pirates of the Caribbean on it. We actually got to see a preview clip of the new one and then the original. We stayed up on deck 10 in chairs but many on deck 9 lined up the loungers and it looked like a mid-ship drive in. Great fun to be sailing in the Caribbean and watching the movie late at night. I think it got over about 1 am!

David, I just have to ask. :scratchin

Do you know of plans for a new DVC resort on the moon? Hence, the reason to take your DVC Member card! :rotfl2:

Cindy - I was thinking the same thing! :lmao:

For those of you who might not have seen any pictures of this.

Here is the Dumbotron on the Magic. This was taken between dinner seatings so there weren't a lot of people up on deck. It was a music video that was playing.

Here it is in action at the pirate party. The nice thing is that now even those in the back can see most of the action since it is up on screen.

The dumbotron is cool looking. How neat to watch the movie under the stars. It's funny how when we go on our cruise in September it won't be there, but 3 weeks later on the Member Cruise it will be! Can't wait to see it.

Here's a new set of GTKYKFC to get the day started:

  • What was the #1 reason you booked this particular cruise?
  • Are you hoping that DVC offers some exclusive merchandise for sale again?
  • If you could only visit one Disney park on a visit which would it be and why?
  • Are you planning any time before or after the cruise at WDW? If so when.
  • What do you think makes DIS DVC'ers different from other DVC'ers?

Gail - that's right! I forgot your 11 day was on the Wonder. Wait till you see the improvements they make. I hope they also add in a Goofy's Gallery in place of Scoops on the Wonder. It was fantastic!

How is the Goofy's Gallery different from Scoops? Do they offer different things other than the ice cream & fruit?

Here's a new set of GTKYKFC to get the day started:

  • What was the #1 reason you booked this particular cruise? Mark and Mary are going on it! :lmao:
  • What excursions are you looking at for Castaway Cay? Haven't given it any thought.
  • Are you hoping that DVC offers some exclusive merchandise for sale again? Would be nice!!!
  • If you could only visit one Disney park on a visit which would it be and why? Magic Kingdom....b/c it's the original (in FL, that is) and b/c to me, it's the most magical and b/c it has the highest percentage of rides I can ride! :)
  • Are you planning any time before or after the cruise at WDW? If so when. I will be in the FL area from October 22-October 29th. If the waitlist doesn't come through that will ALL be WDW time!!
  • What do you think makes DIS DVC'ers different from other DVC'ers? Community and Comeraderie (sp?)

They still have ice cream but it is off to one side and is self-serve (well sometimes they have a CM there to help). It is in little bowls now and only has chocolate and carmel (I think) toppings. No sprinkles.

However on the rest of it (about 2/3 of the area) are glass display cases full of goodies. In the morning there is milk, yougart, pastries (including the Stollen bread from Palo - minus the whipped cream and berries), cereal and fresh fruit. At lunch there is fresh fruit, wraps and paninni (sp?) sandwhiches. A much bigger variety then when it as just Scoops.

Also if you go into Cove Cafe there is now a self-serve cabinet full of yummy pastries in the morning and other goodies in the afternoon.

Goofy's Galley was Scoops. Besides the soft serve and fruit they now have a deli case that has wraps and other light food during the day and in the Am baked goods including the stollen bread from Palo.

(snip)

On our January cruise they also had strawberry topping at the new Scoops area. But even then it was hit or miss....sometimes they had it, sometimes they didn't. :confused3
Here's an idea for the ice cream---we did it several times on our double dip cruise.....get a soda cup from the deck 9 drink station. Take it and fill it 1/3 to 1/2 full of ice cream. Go back to the drink station and fill it with Coke. Unfortunately, no root beer was available, but at least a Coke float was close!!! Yummmm

Mary, were those goodies in Cove Cafe free? Oh, sorry, I mean "INCLUDED?" They looked good, but I was leary to grab one and then find out I had to pay!!!

Here's the questions of the day:

Nobody knows that I _____? Was adopted

f I were going to the moon, I would take ____? My family
