Hey all, Congrats to Deeanna, and...
Um Diana, please understand I was not intending my post as deameaning. I apologize (humbly and publicly) for a poor word choice. I really meant no disrespect to you, your children, your ability as a paerent, or any other sexual or religious implications that can be drawn from the use of that term.
I guess I really miised on the "Trying to be cute factor..."
BTW, I DO REALIZE that at his age they don't play that way!!!! I will, however, argue the point about him knowing boys from girls... He can tell boy/girl children his age. I am not saying he understands the concept, but he will flirt with girls when we take him out to eat sometimes. He usually won't talk to boys his age.
As far as other kids in Flounders, I hope he does have someone to play with. I remeber that there weren't a lot of kids in '03 when we went, and I would very much like for him to be able to play with children his own age.
Diana Lyn said:I've been hesitant to say this, but I feel you are completely overestimating the capacity of a child under two years of age. Children that age typically don't usually engage in "playing with others" in the sense you are thinking of. Ian isn't going to notice who is in Flounders much less care whether or not they are boys or girls. Furthermore, referring to little girls as a "harem" is completely demeaning to women of all ages. I am raising my daughters to be strong minded and independent and will continue to remind them that they are EQUAL to boys and men at any age. It's 2006 and ALL women and girls should be viewed that way ALWAYS. At ages 2 and 3, I will not allow my DDs be classified that way.
Rest assured, there will be plenty of other children in Flounders.
