And now for a Cruise related question??????
I just got back from Sam's club - had to pick up 200 of the 300 pictures I took this trip. I know I remember seeing this mentioned somewhere in these 500+ pages:
How many of you bring the rolling collapsible coolers on board? Do you take these on Castaway Cay?
Does anyone bring their own snorkel, mask and fins?

Hi everyone,

Karen has clients for the next two weeks or so and I have been lurking lately - so here are OUR responses.

(1) What do we do for a living...

I am a federal police officer working on a military installation and Karen owns a pet sitting business. Instead of boarding their animals’ clients have her come into their homes and feed the critters. Since she was in a past life a Vet Assistant she will also do "light" medications. She also will change shades, collect mail and water plants. Basically make the place look like someone is there. Now one of her clients has hired her to put her green thumb to work and do gardening. Essentially she has the ability to take what she loves to do in her spare :rotfl: time and make a living at it.

(2) Taking things onto CC.

We only take the towels and beach stuff. I SCUBA dive so I have my own equipment and since I want to get Karen certified we went out and got her geared up too. I TOTALLY agree about the snorkel, if NOTHING else use your own. Remember to rinse the salt water off the stuff that you get from Sam’s/WM it might make it last a little longer.

Curt - are you and Karen moving soon by chance to the DFW area? I love that Karen runs a pet sitting business and one of my very good friends does this as well. We have a very happy/healthy/exhuberant 90 pound 6 year old choc lab puppy that would love to have someone to come in and care for him.... oh and the psycho cat we adopted who scared off our pet sitter... lol.

Tell her she can catch up soon - we'll be 100 pages ahead.

I have another get to know your fellow cruisers question. What does everyone do for a living?

I am the controller at a local non-profit, and my DH is an electrician. He opened his own shop last year. He loves it, but it is not easy to get him to take a vacation now.

We are also planning on going to MNSSHP on the 26th.

OK, now I will go back to lurking! ;)

Karen and I are doing the Halloween party on Thursday, if there is a meet – we will be there! We have our costumes ready and will be dressed for the occasion. We are also doing the Wishes cruise on Friday, after hanging out at Epcot that day.

Boy! There was a lot to catch up on! We plan to do MCSSHP on October 26 too but will need to come up with some costumes for this. I'm sure we'll do F&W too won't do the special dinner. I heard it was very crowded last year and I'd rather just sample the different items as we walk around the world.

Julie - your wedding pictures will be beautiful in front of the castle! Last year, Tom and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary and I decided we will renew our vows in Disney for our 25th in 2010. Of course, Shawn (DS)thinks I'm crazy and has told me that I talk way too much about Disney.

Curt and Karen - I wish you lived in MA. We don't have anyone to watch Chicklit (short for Chicken Little) when we go away and I don't like leaving her alone for so many nights. We used to have a neighbor come in and feed her but that didn't work out. Too long a story for tonight!

Walmart - It's the only place I can find one flavor of Fancy Feast in a 12-can box. Chicklit will only eat Ocean Whitefish! She is so finicky. I have tried other brands but she won't eat them.

What do I do for a living? I am a Budget Manager for the #1 Health Plan in America. I work in the Sales and Marketing department and have been with the company for almost 12 years. I love my job but sometimes it can be very demanding and working long hours seems to be the norm.

I keep saying my dream job would be to work at MK. I want to stand by the exit wearing MM white gloves and wave to everyone as they are leaving the park and say, "Have a good night! See you real soon!" Now that would be a wonderful job. Of course, I'd also like to work for DVC in their accounting or finance department too. That would be a challenge!

Tom is retired but used to work in the banking industry and then was involved for many years with local and national youth hockey programs. He was President of a program that had over 20 teams ranging from Mites to Midgets. Then he helped out another program that hired professional hockey coaches to coach the kids rather than dads. Shawn has been coached by at least three former NHL hockey players - anyone remember Chris (Knuckles) Nilan?

I would really like to do MNSSHP again - I've only done it once but I might have to tag along with some of you since I might be solo after the cruise. Thursday would most likely be my preference.

Mary - You can hang out with us! We Michiganders can take bets on how many houses will burn to the ground in Detroit on Devil's Night... :firefight

Diana must of taken it. It's 38deg (according to Weatherbug) and overcast here.

...With freeze warnings for tonight! :cold: If it kills my roses and clematis, I'm gonna hafta have words with Mother Nature!

"Light" medications?!? I guess that I never thought of sub-Q fluids as "light" before... :confused3

And for my DIS friends in other states - I'd be happy to be your pet sitter! (All you have to do is pay for my transportation there and back, as well as my regular fees...)

Curt failed to mention that I'm also going to school to become a Medical Technologist. I'm anal, and I like to work alone, so it should be a good fit. I spent 20 years in retail management, and I'd rather put a flaming stick into my eye than go back into that! :crazy2:

Now that I'm nearly 40 years old, I may have finally figured out what I want to be when I grow up! :rolleyes2

Ha!!! All caught up! Too bad I'm supposed to be studying for a quiz that I have in 12 1/2 hours... At least I have my priorities straight! :teeth:

Julie - Congratulations on 1000 posts!!! :woohoo:

(It looks like I've gone over 300 now. I'm a bit more modest than my husband... ) :yay:

Out of college I was a software programmer, then a trainer, then a testing project manager. The last company I worked for I was a software consultant/trainer. I loved that last job because not only did the software work, it was fun to use. Unfortunately for me the company got rid of anyone that did not live locally - they're out in CA and I'm in TX. Now I'm a SAHM and loving it. I can honestly say I don't miss working outside the home, though sometimes I do miss adult conversation.

Good to see you post. We really don't bite hard -- come out and post more often. :thumbsup2

Good morning all!!! I've got a busy day today!! I'm trying to get myself prepared for Madison's birthday party next weekend. Somehow I always wait until the night before to clean up the house, so this time I really want to start early!!!

Reading this, I thought of another GTKYFKK question. Maybe it's been asked, but I have short term memory so I'll ask again.

If you could have any job at WDW, what would it be?

I want to drive the monorail. I want to have a hand in getting people to the parks but more importantly, I want it to be a magical experience for the people sitting up front. This is something we do several times each trip. And, sadly, I can't tell you the number of times we've had a monorail driver who doesn't make any eye contact or doesn't even utter a "hi" :sad2: . It's such a special place to ride and the awe of seeing the track in front of you is so neat that I think the person driving it should make it special too!

Gary wants to drive the boat from the GF & Poly over to the MK. The people with the blue & white striped shirts and white pants/shorts. Not the ferry boat, but the smaller boat.

Back to trying to catch up. :moped:

Karen, come on over to NY!! Of course, I only need a petsitter for the week of Oct 22nd, and I suspect you aren't available! Penny has to be boarded at the vet's $$$$$ because I just don't trust most people with her. She deaf, so can get spooked easily since she doesn't hear you coming unless you stomp your feet to make vibrations. Plus, she can barely get up or down stairs anymore, so I have to lift all 90lbs of her big fat butt up the 3 steps from the outside back in. I know, I know, maybe "it's time" but she eats and plays fine, she's nice to the girls and tolerates their abuse as long as they share all their meals with her. :lmao: She's even been known to chase bunnies in the yard even though some days it's hard for her to walk. :confused3 At 13, she's still got a lot of spunk to her and will probably be around for another 13 years so I keep the local vet in business.

I would either like to work for Orange County Sheriff's Office on the Disney detail. Or work as one of the people driving the "Security" boats. You know that ones that get the "mouse" boats off the shore and such. That would not be a bad job. I LOVE working on the water.

Hey....I'm here too! I have to leave for my volunteer "work" in an hour though, so I'll think about Cindy's question today and respond when I get home.

Of course to make me look like a schmuck - three people posted before my wake up call hit. Eggs for breakfast anyone - I seem to have extra... :teeth:
