2006 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC06 - October 22, 2006 Part 2

We have definitely decided not to do the Med. It was not any easy decision, however. I have always wanted to see Pompeii, and Curt is fascinated by the Count of Monte Cristo - the 10 night would have been perfect for us. Alas, the price is not perfect for us. <sigh>

Plus, it looks as if we'll be cancelling the Double Dip that we have booked for September. Two cruises within a month of one another seems awfully extravagant for us. And I'll have at least one class with a lab next semester. Miss a lecture - no big thing. Miss a lab - not so good. Since I'll already be missing one lab for SSMC06, I probably shouldn't press my luck.

So... We'll have to have twice as much fun on SSMC06 to make-up for our "lost" cruise! And I'm counting on all of you to help make that possible! Don't let me down, friends!

Sorry to hear about not going on the other cruise, but you've definitely made the right decision in choosing SSMC06!

Well, Chris got called for work, so we are delayed! Unfortunately, this puts us in the middle of rush hour traffic through Tampa (and the horrible construction). Oh well, it can't be avoided. The sad part is that Chris is off call at 8am. Urggggg!!!!!

Okay, I think Ian is ready for this cruise. He found David's cup collection and the "Junkanoo" 1/2 yard from our first cruise.

Ian, Ian, Ian, Are you going to give me competition for the chocolate martinis I like oh so much?? I'm not quite sure I want you hanging with Julia all night long if you like to drink!

Robin--I can't believe how big he is too!! He's adorable.

Karen - insurance helps with things like weather that can effect the cruise as well. We don't get it for our WDW trips but do for the cruises. If something happens out of your control at least you get some help. Especially since the cruise is still in hurricane season.

Something to think about.

Exactly, that ship sails and you're not on it, you're out those points/cash. I would say we couldn't get a blizzard in October, but then again I wouldn't normally expect snow in late March either. Doesn't have to be a personal health problem that stops you either, say an immediate family member has a health issue that makes you stay home. And even if we don't go for some reason that DCL covers, they'll only refund the cost of the cruise itself, not for any other expenses. And the travel insurance definitely helps with that.

Diana, at this point I don't think you have to worry about your chocolate martinis. We haven't given Ian any chocolate yet. We've reserved that honor - first taste of chocolate - for his grandfather. But Grumpy Grampa has decided he doesn't want to be the one to start Ian on that path of "destruction". So for now Ian doesn't get any chocolate. (What he doesn't know won't hurt him, right?)

Thanks, I think he's pretty cute, too. I look at him everyday and wonder how he got so big. I guess that's what happens in 15+ months.

I must say Emma & Julia and Emily & Madison are gorgeous. Ian's looking forward to some quality time with his harem in Flounders. BTW, when can we start reserving time there?

Thanks! It's definitely going to be a fun time for the little ones! You can start reserving Flounder's the same day you can make Spa, Palo and Excursion ressies. Last year for the member cruise it wasn't the regular 90 or whatever days out for CC members, it was a specific date they told us in advance. You can reserve up to 8 hours for a 4 night cruise in advance, so what we did was we (well, I) booked 8-10 every night and then when we got onboard, changed it to 11. Then we played it by ear from there. There were literally only a handful of under 3s on SSMC05, so availablity wasn't really an issue, except for Pirate night, and it was full then.

Can anybody use a free child's admission to Shaggy Dog? I realize that everybody got one in their Lady and the Tramp, but some of you have more than one child, so I was hoping that someone may be able to give it a good home...

I would have taken you up on your offer, but we are planning to see the Shaggy Dog while we are in Hilton Head. We leave for Hilton Head in the morning! I guess we will just have to pay for DD to see the show. Unless you want to mail it to the Hilton Head resort and see if we actually receive the letter

I am sure someone will take you up on your most generous offer.

Karen - No worries, we are ready for the are you ready for us??? I think we are still shooting for a reservation on one of the 10 or 11 day MED cruises. Sorry to hear about your Pancreas - I agree with Diana, get the shirt We will purchase insurance for cruises and trips out of the country as we have elderly family members and well, when we lost our bags in Jamaica (um actually Spirit airlines did and you can't pay us to fly them ever again) we were reimbursed for our expenses, so it was worth it!

There's a DFW Dis Meet at the end of April, if you're interested. Unfortunately we can't make that one because of prior commitments, but we do try to go whenever there's one scheduled.
