Yeah, that would be fun to take a limo. I was a *bit* concerned about getting 4 people and luggage in a regular limo.

I'm sure I'll rent a car. We have done both -- taken DCL bus and rented a car. The car is just as easy.

Hello all- Boy, I sure feel late to the party. I've been trying to catch up on this thread, but I'm still only on pg 30! So I thought I would introduce myself and give some info:

Me = Kara, will be turning 32 the day we get off the 10 day DCL cruise in December.

Eric = DH, he's 36

This will be my fourth cruise and Eric's third. All have been on DCL.

My parents will also be on this trip with us. My DH and I gave the trip to them for their 35th anniversary. (Well, we're paying for part of it anyway.) They are very excited to go through the canal, a dream of theirs for years.

I've seen several of you from the Silicon Valley arey here in CA. I would love it if we could do a mini-meet before the cruise!

Strangest fact: We are booked on three DCL cruises between December 04 and November 05, so we will be on the Magic for a total of 31 days in a one year period! LOVE IT!

As of today, I don't have cabin numbers for the Panama cruise. We were booked in Cat 8 cabins on deck 6 (6012 and 6014), but just gave them both up to upgrade to Cat 6 rooms. But now we don't have assigned cabin numbers. Oh well, at least we have verandahs!!! :teeth:

I will email Jeff with our details to add to the list. Is there anyone else I should communicate with to keep in the loop?

Welcome Kara!!! We are on the 10 day Magic Cruise for Christmas also!!!!!

There are a few of us on both cruises.

Welcome aboard!

Linda

Hi Kara! Welcome aboard. :wave2: I'm from San Jose and I think we have one cruiser from San Francisco and one more from up north here somewhere...

It would be nice if all of us could get together sometime for a Bay Area pre-cruise party!! :)

Jeff is the one you want to give your info to; Peter is the one who will make sure you do it!

Any idea when you guys are flying out for this cruise? Do you generally fly out of SFO?

-jindy

LOL Jindy

Still in planning Stages as to when we will arrive,,

I would like to Arrive Friday Do Disney and Then Go to The port that Night... But Annual pass expires on May 11th 2005
so We will See /.....

LOL

Boy you all were busy today!

I am still waiting on Jet Blue to open the bookings. As of yesterday they were still only up till May 2 2005. Aimee and I both have $60.00 credit vouchers and currently the one way price to MCO is $79.00, I believe it was $136.00 from LGB to JFK. I plan to grab them at that price! I would like to fly down on Friday morning, but after hearing that Ron Jon's is very strict about checking in before 4:00, I don't know about that yet. Peter, I am counting on you to report back the entire experience. (well maybe not all the personal stuff ya know!)

Welcome Kara and Eric! I am jealous of all your cruise plans, maybe once I am a Florida resident I can do more than one a year. This will be #6 for us.

Sandra, I was the one who posted the link to the Dolphins in Curacao. Come to think of it, they never answered my email. I will have to call them. Apparently the same day we will be there, another cruise line has ALL the royal dolphin swims booked up. I wanted to know if they plan to change that since Disney will be there special. Here is the link: http://www.dolphin-academy.com/

Linda, I also was the one who posted the link to Randi's happy horses. I found about about her on Cruise Critic "port o call" board. Randi posts on there, and everyone raves about her. This I plan to do for sure, but have not booked yet. I was kind of holding off in case Disney changes things again. Here is the link: http://www.mazinfo.com/horsebackride/index.htm

I've been a little busy lately and no time to excursion research. I would love to do the Pirate ship in Cabo, but it was a little pricey. I will post more links as I find them.

Robin

Welcome aboard to Kara and Eric.

Stay tuned in here for the latest and bestest info etc.

Okay, so we're getting new people! Whoohooo!
Since we've been at this for a few months how about a little getting to know you segment? It just helps making some common bonds and all...
If you choose to particpate answer the following questions:

What do you do for a living? Do you like it?

What did you want to be when you grew up?

If you were stuck on a deserted island what would you bring and is the last person you would want on that island with you?

Favorite Disney movie? or movie in general?

Why the Disney Panama Canal Cruise?

And silly question: If someone wrote a book about your life, what would be a good title?

My answers:

I'm a NICU nurse, and I love it. I love making an immediate effect on someone's life.
I wanted to be a rock star when I grew up (hey Bon Jovi was HUGE in NJ)
If I was on an island I would bring a boat load of good books, Palo souffle and Lake Breeze wine. I would not want Bill Clinton with me.
Fox and the Hound
Why not? Any chance to be out in the middle of the ocean with Jeff is worth it to me. (work can't find him!!)
The Bold and the Blonde (One woman's flight into dizziness)

1. Currently work in A/R and setting up customer accounts. I like it, but it is not what I want to do forever or what I set out to do.

2. When I was little I wanted to be in movies. When I was a teenager I wanted to be a rock star. When I was in college I wanted to be an actor/writer/rock star. When I married and had a child I decided to be an event planner. Currently I am not any of these things! :(

3. If I were stuck on a deserted island I would bring Johnny Depp along. If other humas are not allowed, I'd bring a guitar and books instead. (And movies, can I have movies , please?)
I would NOT want Britney Spears on the island with me.

4. The Nightmare Before Christmas  & Life is Beautiful (a GREAT movie). Other faves: Pulp Fiction, Edward Scissorhands, Shakespeare in Love, Cry Baby, The Princess Bride, The Flamingo Kid, Its a Wonderful Life, The Shining. Disney: Herbie movies, Escape from Witch Mountain, The Black Cauldron, Sword in the Stone, Toy Story, Beauty and the Beast. I could go on forever...

5. The DCL PC cruise because...well to be honest I thought it was time I did something for myself. I don't buy myself clothes or *things* because we live on a really tight budget and my job is to provide for DD - so that's what I do. We miss out on a lot of things, sacrifice stuff a lot of people take for granted, and DD never complains when I say "we can't afford" this or that. She is a good kid who appreciates everything and never fails to be thankful for what she has. She realizes how fortunate she is. I have not taken a vacation since 2001, only weekend trips that I take during holidays so I don't have to take time off from work, and we always stay at the cheapest (and sometimes dumpiest! LOL!) places. This trip will be the first indulgence I've allowed myself in about 6 years. That is why I am so excited and it means so much to both of us.

For some people it's just another vacation, for us it's a trip of a lifetime!!!

6. A book about my life? Hmmm....it would be called "shaken, not stirred!"

Jen, good post! (some might be a strain on the brain to answer:confused: )

1) I work in customer service for a direct mail order company. I am on the phones all day with some absolute idiots (they do provide my paycheck though indirectly) I have been with the company 14 years (started in 1981, but took an extended break when I had my DD) I have worked for every division in many positions through the years. I do not like my job, but it is a good company to work for. Next time any of you see an ad in a magazine or TV guide for either Danbury Mint, Postal Commemorative Society, Easton Press or Willabee & Ward you can think of me and pray hard! LOL

2) When I was little I wanted to be a Mom to twins, (thank god that did not happen) in High School I wanted to be a court reporter, but ended up getting married to get out of the house and never continued with my education.

3) If stuck on a deserted island, I would like sunscreen, books, music and movies (if allowed) The last person I would like with me is my ex!

4) My favorite movie is a hard question. I love movies! You would think I was nuts if you saw my VHS/DVD collection. Here are a few of my favorites: Finding Nemo, Bridges of Madison County, Aloha Bobby and Rose, Harold and Maude, The original Blob, Walk in the Clouds, Benny and Joon (Johnny Depp for you Jindy:teeth: ) I own just about all of Disney, I could go on and on! I have movies for every mood.

5) After 5 previous Disney cruises, I am really ready for this. When we first took our land and sea (before the 7 day) I decided that we needed more time on the ship. Once we heard about the 7 day, we were hooked! Two Eastern, then two Western, this is a much needed change. The bus driver told us back in 1999 that the ships were specially made panamax, and I have been hoping ever since! Now we really get to go!

6) my book: Welcome to my nightmare! Seriously, too many unbelievable tales to tell, the book would be too thick to print.

Thanks Jen!

Robin

I am currently a Dental Assistant still in school for Hygiene, but thinking about switching to the R.N. program.

I wanted to be a race car driver! Still feel that way sometimes on the interstate!!!

I would bring my daughter, Kaylin and husband, Carl.

My fav movie is Hildalgo.

This will be our third Disney cruise and I have always wanted to see the Panama Canal!

I guess today it would be the hectic life of..., but I love Jindy's shaken not stirred!!! That sounds about right!

Oooooo we have another Viggo fan.... we're traying to figure out a Viggo Johnny Depp night

Thanks for all of the warm welcomes everyone!

I love these kinds of questions, so let's see:

1. I am a Compliance Officer at a Brokerage firm. I love what I do and I like the company I work for, but I have a wicked witch for a boss...

2. For almost as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a lawyer... :earseek: Sick, I know. I'm in a similar field now without all of the extra schooling, but also about 1/3 of the pay.

3. I would love to be on a desserted island with my best friend, my husband! It would be the ultimate nightmare if my boss showed up.

4. Favorite movie? Wow, tough one. From Disney, it would be a toss-up between Treasure Planet and Aladdin. Over all, Dazed and Confused, Fast and Furious, Notting Hill, Gone in 60 Seconds, Lord of the Rings series, just to name a few.

5. The Panama Canal is one of the greatest accomplishments of mankind, and has an incredible story to go along with it, so who better to cruise through it than with my favorite mouse!!

6. Book? Whoo boy...it may be a toss-up between "How to survive as an only child" and "Two steps forward, one step back":yo-yo:

Oooh! another Vin Diesel fan on the ship????

Jen, the Johnny Depp/Viggo party would be hilarious!! I'm still working on getting Depp on that ship with us... ha ha.

These questions are great! It's interesting learning about everyone...

moocow35 . . . I had also emailed that same site about the dolphin encounter. I want to do it there -- rather than doing it on the west coast (Mexico). I never got a response. I was going to wait until later to pursue it.

When do we think we'll received excurision info? Anyone know when the new itineraries were released for this summer / fall when those people got info.

Okay, I have had to think all morning about these answers, but here is my attempt:

1. I am the Director of Finance for Girl Scouts of Utah. I have been here about 7 1/2 years and love working here. A very satisfying career. Working in the non-profit sector is so different and just makes me feel good about what I do.

2. Well, I haven't grown up yet-but......I think I wanted to be an actress, then I wanted to be an attorney. I still debate about the attorney thing, but I am happy with what I am currently doing.

3. If I was stuck on a deserted island I would definitely bring chocolate and diet coke. The last person I would want on the deserted island with me? Gee-I'll have to think some more about that. Maybe my ex-husband?

4. My favorite Disney movie is probably The Little Mermaid. I just love that movie. Our golden retriever's name: Sebastian! My favorite movie-Dirty Dancing. My husband and I met dancing to music from that movie on a van on the way to Lake Powell!

5. Why? Do I need a reason to cruise? Okay, 1st Disney Repositioning Cruise, 1st time the Magic through the Panama Canal, and just an excuse for another vacation!

6. My life-I'm not good like you guys with coming up with book titles, but let's see....how about, 101 Easy Ways to Make Your Life Difficult!

Okay, I'm going to get back to work!!!!

Linda

:teeth:

1. I work as an office manager for a very small office. I don't mind working here as long as my boss takes lots of vacations ::yes::

2. Well, I wanted to me a stay at home mom. I always felt secure knowing that my Mom was around if I needed her and didn't have to worry about disrupting her at work.

3. I would bring music, movies suncreen and Dale Jr, Johnny, Orlando and Viggo (or my DH :teeth: ) I would not want Christopher Walkin there...he freaks me out :crazy2: :scared: :faint:

4. Favorite Disney Movie: Little Mermaid...other movies...Star Wars, LOTR, Crimson Tide, Glory, A Knight's Tale, White Christmas, Holiday Inn etc.

5. Well...14 days with the Mouse...who wouldn't want to go...actually it is the free Mickey Bars :mickeybar and I guess seeing the Panama Canal will be nice too....

6. A book about my life...yikes...how about "I drank to much water and my head rusted...Answers to the age old question "Where did you get your red hair?"

1) Currently I am temping as the assistant to the Sr. VP of Participations and the VP of Residuals at Walt Disney Pictures and TV. I have been temping off and on at Disney for two years. In a few weeks I'll start a 4 mo assignment at my church's international headquarters. Do I like it? Well, the people are great - but I'm not a financial girl and that seems to be most of the work I’ve been doing at Disney. I’m still trying to find my place. The flexibility has been nice but the financial instability, lack of health insurance, no vacation, sick or holiday pay can be tough on the nerves.

2) When I grow up, hmmm… Well as a kid I wanted to be tons of stuff as a teenager and college student I wanted to be and was educated as an actor. Life post college is simply not linear, so now I’m not sure but after 6 years away I am dangling my toes back in the acting waters  – plus I want to be a mom.

3) Deserted island necessaries - My bible, sparkletts water, my dog (she can live on veggies), balance bars, a cell phone with unlimited service & internet access for disboards and so Amazon.com could make airdrops  – who is banned? Jessica Simpson – I have a very low tolerance for whining.

4) Beauty & Beast is a great film – I too love lots of movies Princess Bride, Better Off Dead (80’s John Cusack classic if you think any film is enhanced by dancing hamburgers), Scavenger Hunt, LOTR, Philadelphia Story (Hepburn & Grant), Roan Innish, Anne of Green Gables and so many more.

5) When my cousin’s (TinkerBellMom) DH suddenly left her (mid-life crisis) last Christmas she had an open spot on her annual January cruise so I joined her and her DD. We had a blast. So we made a date to do it again next year. And when I found out in March (I was in touch with a friend on board) that the Magic was coming home (I live in So. CA and am a former DL CM) we started dreaming big. I just think that the opportunity to travel and in the luxury of the Magic just can’t be missed. It’s worth pinching all of our pennies.

6) Today’s title (it will change) “The Adventures of Tinkerbell and Stinkerbell"
