PinDiva,
I know you're a bit south of me, but if you really want a great place for your babies and don't mind paying a bit extra, Almost Home Pet Resort is the place. It really is a puppy resort. They have a playground, a pool, and a running area for the dogs. The "kennels" themselves are huge. The staff is wonderful. My two never want to leave, every time I go pick them up it's s truggle to get them in the car as they run for the playground... If it's to far for you, they might be able to reccomend someone closer to you. They have a web site which I can't remember off the top of my head, but they are located in Valrico FL.

Thanks Jeff...not a problem...whenever you have time!

Whew! Jeff showed up, beginning to think people were going to think I had an imaginary husband!:groom:

Wow, Renne - you got that really fast! Doesn't seem like it was that long ago that you mentioned (on the other thread) you'd ordered it!

Yes, I know it was fast. I only ordered it last Monday! It came from Seattle.

I just ordered the Panama Canal map too! Now, let's hope we can swing this cruise! Looks like I have a lot of catching up to do on this thread! I've been away for a few days
:boat: sailing, sailing on Disney's first Panama Cruise!:boat:

Hey we should order one of those maps...being that we are in Seattle it should be to us in a flash.

We bought that book "Cruising the Panama Canal" and read though it in like a week...we were soo excited about our cruise. We didn't read the chapters on the ports we aren't going to and I will probably want to skim it again before the cruise. The book came will a wall map that we had talked about taking with us. (I had completely forgotten about that map until I started writing this)

I wonder what kind of general Panama Canal info DCL will give us that Friday as we go through.

I probable missed this... please forgive me if it's posted already. How do we find out which ports we'll be stopping on for thie first ever Disney PC cruise?

Thanks!

The itinerary came from DCL:

5/14 Depart

Good morning everyone! :wizard:

Thanks Jen and Jeff for the link to Almost Home Pet Resort. It looks great.... kind of far from where we are.. and in the opposite direction of where we'll need to go... but we are going to go for a visit anyway next time we're up in Orlando July 1-6.
We really like the looks and sound of the place and it may be worth the extra miles and time if they are that good! Do you know if they give a "multi-dog" discount at all? Esp if two stay in the same "suite" Having to board 4 is going to cost us a fortune but we have to make sure they are well cared for since they are SPOILED babies!

Okay.. back to work...today I promised myself I would clean out at least one closet and make ebay, garage sale and TOSS piles!!
Wish me luck...

:wizard: I think I figured out how to put a picture in the post...
Let's see if this works...
These are the babies....

Ok Jeff, we need to add Copper and Josie to my tag!
All these puppies... good thing Disney won't let us bring them, there would be no sleeping!!

I don't know about a group discounts for the dogs. We board ours but in seperate runs, have to, they fight like an old married couple. But you can email/ call them.

They are worth the drive, they spoil my two something awful. Both my dogs have a ton of seperation anxiety, Copper especially. He doesn't cope with the world very well if we're not with him. When we went on our honeymoon and came back, Copper was inconsolable. He was in a funk for months anytime we even left the room without him. So when we came back after being in Germany for 2 weeks in April, I was sure he was going to be a mess. Not a chance. Walking out to the car he BOLTED and I mean bolted for the playground and barked at me when I said no, we're going home. He was upset with me!
So while it did cost us over $300 for the 2 1/2 weeks they were there, complete with extra pool and playground time, it was worth it... Oh, they also file down their nails, not just trim them so they are short and smooth!

Oh Leslie... I LOVE the picture of your babies. We lost our dog (my baby) in '96. I still miss her so. Seeing your WONDERFUL puppies makes me want to go out and get another one!

Great Picture!

Since the disney website has been back up, I've been trying to price our cruise. It is showing nothing available. Do guys think it is *really* sold out now?

Interesting. I have not called DCL to check. Anyone talk with DCL lately about this?

And, any idea when we may get some more useful information about what type of excursions and so on?? I will be very unhappy if they wait until the last 60-day minute to announce information like that.

Hi Guys,

I know I'm pretty quiet. (OK so 1 post in 52 pages is almost dead;) ) But I did take a giant step of faith yesterday and purchased my airfare for the cruise. It was a pretty good price and I just needed to do it. Hope for the future you know. Now to save up the other 3850.

DisneyPinDiva: Have you thought about a dog sitter? With four dogs and for 2 weeks it may be easier to have someone you trust come and stay with them. I know my girl (Brandi - Dalmatian) does far better that way.

Also on the issue of packing and room for souvenirs. I found a great possible solution and reasonably priced too. Check out this collapsable suitcase. I am going to get one. (haven't yet - need to pay for my airfare first) Has anyone seen one of these in person? What did you think?

Actually I was pricing fares yesterday! I found really cheap one-way fares of $179 from San Jose to Orlando. I don't have a nickel to my name to spend right now - or else I would have booked them as well...

jindy

Carasoyn~Thanks for the link! Those look like something that would work perfect!

Great news on the air fare...I'm still watching since I will need two one way tickets....

JinDiesel-I know what you mean about no $$. We just got back from WDW and the cruise....so have to save, save, save.....or maybe get a fun part time job to help! Or better yet...maybe I should sent my 15 yo DD out to get a job....she is the one that seems to 'suck' the money right out of my pocket!

Vicki

Oh Vicki we are literally in the same boat. (Dumb pun intended!!) :boat:

We are going to Disneyland for her 7th birthday in July (3rd-7th). So we will be fundless when we return! This little girl's birthday ends up lasting 6 days and costing me a fortune! She REALLY needs a job! Too bad those labor laws keep me from putting her to work!!

I have to admit though, the excitement of the cruise has really helped me explain dollars and cents to her. She knows we have to save "x" amount per month and suddenly she's not asking for so much, and going to Target is becoming a lot easier on my checkbook!! :rotfl:
